Talitha made it to the hill right as the sun set, watching the last of the fiery rays sink below the horizon. She looked around for Lexis, hoping she had found the right hill. The stars began winking into veiw, softly illuminating the forest below.

Lexis ran up to the top of the hill shortly after Talitha did. Smiling, he looked up at the sky and saw the starts staring to twinkle into sight. He sat down next to Talitha and said, "The view from up here is great."

"Yep!" Talitha gazed up at the brightly lit sky, "The number of stars is almost endless, I'd love to sit up here some night and just see how many I can count before the sun rises." She laughed, "Though I guess that's a little kit-like of me." Her green eyes scoured the sky, looking for her favorite constilations.

"That's not too kit-like. Granted, I only know one kit pretty well, but when Zinnia was little she too energetic to sit around and look at the stars. Actually, she's still sorta like that," He added, laughing some.

"Yeah, I know how that's like, Chaos is the most kit-like Namir I know and she's an adult!" Talitha laughed, "I'm glad I'm not too kit-like to watch the stars, they're so amazing."

"Yeah, they are." Lexis looked around the sky. He had heard that sometimes Venus or Mars could be seen in the night sky. After a few moments of looking around he wondered if he'd even be able to tell if he was looking at a planet or not. "Do you think either Venus or Mars is visible tonight?"

Talitha laughed, "Both are close to the moon, they shine brighter than most stars if they're close... Though I can never seem to be able to tell if I'm looking at Venus or Mars..." She located one of the planets quickly and pointed to it, her ears perking as she remembered an event that was supposed to happen tonight. "There's supposed to be a meteor shower tonight! Somewhere off to the north!" she said, turning around to face the area of sky the meteor shower was said to occur.

Lexis looked in the direction she indicated. It did look brighter than the other stars. "A meteor shower?" said Lexis, "Wow! I've never seen one of those!" He turned to face north and waited for the shower to begin.

"The meteor showers is supposed to be caused by particle meteors or asteroids that have been discharged by a passing comet," as she spoke the first couple of flashes lit up parts of the sky, "They burn up in our atmosphere and cause the pretty flashes. It's rare that they actually hit the earth, but still possible." She smiled, secretly wishing that one would land near them so they could see it. "They're also called shooting stars, you're supposed to make a wish when you see one."

Lexis listened with interest to Talitha's lesson. He knew some if it, like the fact that meteors burn up in the atmosphere, but certainly not all of it. His ears perked up at the mention of shooting stars. So that's what they were! He'd always wondered, since it didn't seem possible that stars could fall from the sky. Smiling, he asked, "Should we make a wish?"

"Sure!" she squeezed her eyes shut tight and tried to think up a wish. One of her eyes slipped open and she glanced over at Lexis, smiling as she made her wish.

Lexis closed his eyes and tried to think of a wish. Then it came to him! Glancing slightly over at Talitha, he made his wish. He opened his eyes again and looked to see if she had finished hers yet, wondering what she had wished for. Not that he would ask, of course.

Smiling over at Lexis, Talitha layed back in the cool grass, making a pillow out of some leaves. "It's a beautiful meteor shower," she said, curling up in the leaves and watching the sky with bright yet sleepy eyes.

"Yes it is," replied Lexis. He layed back with her, and looked up at the sky again, watching the meteors rain from the sky and burn up in the atmosphere. He was starting to feel tired, but considering how long of a day it's been he fully expected it. Still, he fought to keep from falling asleep so that he could continue to look at the stars with Talitha.

(Should we have them fall asleep and then start again with them waking up on the hill the next morning?)
Talitha had to resist the urge to yawn, not wanting the night to end just yet.
