Von:
he could tell she was embarrassed or ashamed of her need of the concoction becuase she immediately felt the need to defend herself for taking it. he didnt really care he agreed it was better for her to take it. he couldnt help but laugh when hse mentioned that he must have gotten wounded using this form of weapon. "actually they cant hurt us...the explosion is more like holy fire...it wont even singe us." he said after she so readily decided she would be the one to wield them. he knew she was probably more nimble and quicker then he was considering her kind but he felt uneasy giving them to her. "ill give you some but i would prefer i keep some...simply because these things are the only real thing i can use against daemons up close''. He had finished his first scroll. covered in at least 30 small latin markings and verses. he didnt know what they meant but he knew they worked. He continued making another one. "the only problem with these is there hard to make...even one mistake screws the whole thing up." he said noticing her curiosity.

"I understand" she said "Im a worry wart. I always try to make things easier on my comrades. Especially when I know they can get hurt more easily than I. We'll split the notes that way you are able to use them in a pich." She looked at the markings once more. "Where did you learn this? Was that part of your training as a member of the vatican?"
If they were going to work together she might as well get to know the man. Maybe that would help them overcome their differences. Plus it was common practice with her to find out about her team mates. She felt it brought them closer together and increased their trust in one another. Not only that but Namine needed to know her comrades somewhat. She recalled the night she was turned. Her comrades were slaughtered trying to defend themselves and her. One of them even put itself between the vampire and herself, but it was for naught as he was struck down quickly. She could still see the glowing orbs of the vampire before he took her, and she shivered slightly at the memory.

Von:
he laughed at her question. "oh...haha .... im sorry its just what you said made me laugh...haha training from the vatican...oh boy as if....they wont let me anywhere near the Vatican." he could tell she didnt understand. "im...not actually a part of the Vatican...i just do as they say...anything i know how to do now is becuase ive learned it myself or through various interactions with Vatican members. I cant ever be a member of the Vatican...sinners like myself cant even enter the Vatican city." he said staring at his feet. Talking about his past crimes always made him depressed. The idea he was going to hell frightened him. he pulled out of his pocket a small iron cross necklase. On the back of it had a small latin phrase. "it means God Forgive me of my sins for they are many." he said handing it to her.

Namine listened intently to what he was saying. What did he mean he did not work for the vatican? Why did he do missions for them then? She wasn't sure she understood. He handed her a small iron cross necklace and explained what the inscription on the back said.
"Von im not quite understanding what you've said. How could you work for the vatican but not be a part of them? And if thats the case why would you? No one is without sin." She didn't believe that Von had committed some atrocity. Then again she did not know him at all. All she knew was what she had witnessed for herself since their encounter. "Von something heavy weighs upon your shoulders and I do not want to pressure you to speak about it. I will say that it may help you to speak about it and also help to ease the confusion in my mind. What is this necklace to you? And why does it affect you so?" She held it in the palm of her hand for both of them to view.

Von:
he sat down at the table the conversation was actually starting to tire him out. "to put it simply....a long time ago i was a terrible person. I am condemned to hell for what i did...and the only way i can be forgiven is if i serve the Vatican. The Vatican wont allow people condemned to hell to join there ranks." he said taking a look at the cross. That cross....well its a keep sake." He took a look out the window he could see the girl waiting on the step out front. "im not going to tell you what i did ....unless you specifically ask. It wont help me talking about it."

Namine put the trinket on the table. She realized it was selfish of her to ask about his life. It was something he was not comfortable in discussing and it plagued his mind. "Im sorry I asked. I know how difficult it can be to discuss something you do not wish to recall."
His burden was great..condemned to hell. Now he was making it up by working for the vatican. She was saddened that such a fate had been cast upon him. There was much evil in this world and it was their job to get rid of it. She wondered if he questioned god in the same way she did, asking the same questions each time. Why me? Why did it happen like that? Did I deserve it? But the answer never came. "I hope you find peace eventually. No one deserves to be tormented forever..."

"its ok...(sigh)...why i do this isnt important the fact we get things done is." he said standing up. he had made 3 scrolls and gave her one. "ok they have to be placed so that none of it is crumpled. Try aiming at the chest ...um thats all you need to know about these things." he said trying to change the subject. he suddenly remembered something he forgot to ask her. "Oh i almost forgot to ask...have you ever fought Daemons like this before?....do you know what to expect?"

She took the scroll he offered and listened to his explanation of their use. He was right it didn't matter the reasons they had for doing what they did. It just had to get done and they were the ones to do it. " I can't say that I have fought one like what you've described. Still it must be done and again I'll try not to hold you back. Im sure my previous experience may be of help but I wont know until we are face to face with the beast. Speaking of which..do you think that girl could be helpful to us?" Namine recalled that he had sent her off to investigate and gather information. She wondered if the child had found something useful.

Von:
"well my first peice of advice is not to be face to face with it" he said loading his guns in his Cross. "as for the girl....she knows this place better then we do...who knows she might find something." he thought carefully about what Namine may need to know in order to at least stay safe. "as for the getting in my way...stay out of my firing zone thats all you need to do about that....um if i get injured and the daemon isnt almost dead then run....um if you dont have a kill shot fire at its eyes then take cover." he considered what she had said and decided he might as well ask. "You said "previous experience" tell me about it...the more i know about you the better" he said.

She nodded after each pointer. He really needed to have more faith in her. "Von lets get this straight. If you fall in battle and are still breathing, it is my duty to see that you survive. So no I will not run away. My objective will be to take you with me. That is not difficult to do, I could easily carry you. The problem would be if the beast pursued us. At that point I would have to leave you somewhere while I draw its attention and try to rid us of it. As for my experience...I have much. It may not be with this kind of demon but with its lesser counterparts. Vampires, hell spawn, Soul eaters, ogres, devils, succubi, and the list goes on. I have never used that scroll you made though. My previous team mates and I used weapons and holy water. The most powerful weapon we've used are bullets made with holy water and incantations. Those things pack quite a wallop by the way. I know how to handle myself in a situation and I can adapt. That is a choice one does not, make it just happens, and it happens because you want to live to see another day." She finished her litany and looked at Von.

Von:
"what i meant was that if i fall in battle...you should run becuase chances are the daemon will be to busy playing with my corpse....its better you live to fight another day then die saving me." he said calmly. "as for incantations i dont cast spells....and holy water bullets? i wish i could afford those. The thing is the creatures you've fought before although dangerous arnt the same as fighting daemons. These things dont just tear you to peices....they will mock you tempt you...ive seen other exorcists shoot teammates because of the thoughts the daemons put in there heads." he said firmly. "my piont is when you fight this thing, expect bad things to happen, there is no "adapting" to an image of you killing children appearing in your mind. The only thing you can do is stay focused and remember that anything you hear see or even think may not be the truth" he said strapping the cross onto his back. "Id gladly fight an army of ogres then a daemon....becuase its not just a matter of spilling blood...its also trying to fight the voice in your head."

Namine looked at him. She was unsure of this creature now. She could see how it would be difficult to battle such a thing especially if it were to get into their heads. It could use just about anything against them. If their minds were weak and if they believed what their senses perceived to be true, they could very well hurt each other and bring about their own demise. She did not like this at all but knew she could not back down. The vatican never took no for an answer, nor could she, after talking to Von, leave him to face such danger alone. "I understand Von. I will do what is necessary. She condeded feeling defeated. Could anything be worse than what had happened to her before? She didn't know and hoped nothing would happen that would make her think so.

he could tell she was worried. He had probably gone a little over board in his descriptions. "look um...sorry...its not all bad...when i fight them i try to keep my mind on one thing. One specific thing...doesnt matter what. Its just when your focusing on that one thing it tends to drown out everything else." he said looking out the window ounce more. "um....You do know how to kill them though?....right?" he asked realizing that hed better make sure now. If she didnt know the specifics of killing a daemon she wouldn't have a chance. He had seen all to often people thinking they have killed a daemon after blowing it to pieces with a grenade only to find 10 seconds later it had regrown and was chewing on there torso.

Namine watched him. He was distracted by something. It was obvious this mission was not going to be a piece of cake. There was more to this than she had been told. As a matter a fact she wasn't told much. His last question caught her off guard. He was askng if she knew how to kill a demon. "Well blowing it to pieces does not classify it as dead. At least not with all demons as some can respawn. You have to make sure that everything is disintegrated in which case you use holy water to take care of any remaining problems." She wondered if his methods differed greatly to the methods she had seen used. So far she had come across one and that was the scrolls. She moved to the window wanting to see what attracted his attention.

Von:
he didnt like the way she thought killing a daemon was as simple as that. "that might work with small daemons but thse are different." he said He quickly grabbed a peice of paper and drew a crude drawing of a large daemon. "ok burning of the flesh is only one part...that can be done with scrolls or holywater." he quickly drew a pentagram in the middle of its chest "but after that you have to quickly kill its heart...and i mean quick the wound will heal in about 3 seconds. The heart is a stone conected to its skeleton...its a pentagram shaped rock...if its not cracked the beast will just regenerate again." he said handing her the drawing. "its important you learn how to kill them....you burn the flesh covering the heart...then you break the heart" he said recapping. he remembered back when he last killed a daemon. It was 2 months ago.
((memory))
He had his shield in front of him trying despritly not to be knocked back by the fireballs hitting it on the other side. The daemon was cakeling as it pelted him with fire. "BURN SINNER" it screamed the beast had stopped to take a few steps closer and von knew that would be his only chance. he ducked out of cover slightly with his shotgun and fired at the daemons head. "YEAARGH!!" it screamed as its face erupted in blood. Von left his shield behind and ran up to the daemon with a wine bottle filled with holy water. he leaped toward the daemon only to see the daemon wip around and catch him in mid air. The daemons hand clutching tightly around his chest a single sqeeze could kill him. He smashed the bottle on the beasts hand burning it off and setting him free. "See you in hell b***h" he cried as he slapped on a scroll to the beasts chest. In a firy explosion the beast fell backward now without a chest screaming in pain. He had only seconds the flesh healing as he grabbed the closest thing he could find. He grabbed a brick off the floor and began smashing it at the Pentagram shaped rock within the creatures chest. IT wasnt working fast enough so he wiped out a grenade. He was far to close it would kill him. He pulled the pin and placed it on the pentagram. The daemonic flesh had regrown over the heart and over the grenade. The daemon had punched him across the room just in time for the grenade to explode. He awoke hours later only to find the skeleton of the daemon and a cracked rock in the middle of its chest. he had killed it...but only just, the crack on the heart was only small.
