"Back when I first started, back in the beginning, I was always trying to be old and grumpy and important.... like you do when you're young."

So then being a grumpy old fart is like the Time Lord version of adolescence? xd heart

Hm.. I dunno.. just all of that bit at the end.... it was so amazing... *sigh*
I wanna see it again but I don't wanna start crying again.. whee

Oh Rassilon, that was brilliant!

Here are some of my favourite quotes.

"...like 'eh, I'm the Doctor, I can save the universe using a kettle and some string, and look at me, I'm wearing a vegetable'.

"Aw, the back of my head!"

"Aw, and out they come! The brainy specs! You don't even need them! You just think they make you look a bit clever!"

"Well, actually, the exact size of...Belgium. That's a bit undramatic, isn't it? Belgium?"

TEN: Wibbly wobbley...

BOTH: Timey wimey!

Poor Ten. No high five.

Haha, this one's the best.

FIVE: You're...oh no...
TEN: Here it comes, yeah yeah, I'm...
FIVE: A fan.
TEN: Yeah...WHAT?!

Okay, this is the best one.

"Check out this bone structure, Doctor, cos one day you're gonna be shaving it."

The end.

The first time I saw it I was shocked,I was expecting something more.. angsty and serious, I guess, which was a bit stupid of me! xd ... the second time I thought it was OK, by the third time I was convinced it was brilliant, and it's just been getting better since smile .

"I've never met anyone who could fly the TARDIS like that!"

"Sorry mate, you still haven't."

Awww. Is it me or did 10 have an angsty 'last of the timelords' look after that?

It's everyone's version of adolescence, since adolescence is the only time in one's life where one is expected to prove you're an adult.

Over in comics fandom it's a bit of a truism that teenagers think the stories which are 'mature' are those which are dark, cynical, grim'n'gritty, serious, etc. While older readers tend to think the stories that're really mature are those that're optimistic and fun.

Same principle. smile

It's actually the angriest I've ever seen the 5th Doctor... at least in the kind of snapping at someone sense, rather than just a moral talk.

He calls Ten a 'skinny idiot' AND tells him to shut up.

The only thing that bugged me was that I'm sure Tom Baker's Doctor does not count as a grumpy old man...

Oh and was it just me or was there some classic series music playing in the background at one point? Definitely some classic-like sounds and stuff.

I like the 5th best when his characterisation goes.. repress, repress, repress, repress, SNAP! But I suppose they didn't have time for the repress, repress, repress, repress here so had to cut to the SNAP!, which was a bit jarring at first.

But the Fifth Doctor can be a massive snark to random skinny idiots he takes an instant dislike to. For example, have a look at his treatment of Will all the way through The Awakening. He's not giving a moral talk there, he's just snapping every few minutes because the chap annoys him. smile

I also found the Fifth Doctor to be surprisingly irritable during the start of Time Crash (to the point where the characterization seemed off), though I suppose you're right about his being occasionally snarky to those who annoy him. Still, lots of funny stuff in this special. And I like how they didn't just ignore Davison's change in appearance (seeing his shocked face when Tennant started playing with his cheeks... xd )

I guess my only other criticism is that I could do without all the "What? What?!! WHAT?!?" stuff. I found it mildly humorous at the end of 'Doomsday', but I hope it isn't going to be a running gag, because it's just not that funny. It's almost as annoying the Doctor's constant "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" apologies.

It was hilarious. My mom laughed at the "A fan" "Yeah... What?!"
And when you're under the gun, and what you're dealing with is a guy that's going on with useless impute that seemed antagonizing, I can see how he would snap fast.
And I did like how they covered the appearance change. That covered the plot hole I've been seeing with the double ups.

I loved it, my two fav doctor making fun of each other was a fangirl dream come true! *squee* It was very nice how they neatly covered the plot hole of the Titanic going through the wall of the TARDIS, and that was really bugging me that no one writing it had seen the problem. The ending was very touching, and I've been in a bit of a funk because right after I watched Time Crash I watched Caves of Androzani(SP?) for the first time crying The idea that even the Doctor has a favorite regeneration is nice, because all of us fans can relate to having that one Doctor that you knew first, or just means the most to you.

Hhahaah, I thought it was excellent!! so not expecting to see him...
Admittedly the 'what's' were slightly annoying, but otherwise it was great! Explains how the titanic managed to break through the TARDIS as well. blaugh blaugh
Best bit was when they were making fun of eachother. And the celery line too 3nodding

"I don't want to sound vain. But do you mind putting the hat back on."

Can't have a Two Doctor moment without them going at each other. If it weren't for the first; second and third would still be going at it.

XD Awww man this was pure gold.

I can't possibly write down everything I liked about this, CELERY! I should really someday just take some and use it as a decorative vegetable. XD

Stephen Moffat has got to be one of the best writers on the show.

LOL I watched this in a Hotel room in China... 0___o
