I've thought that maybe there was a relationship between the Doctor and the Rani. But broke up with him and went with the Master.

I always wondered where The Rani's name came from. I mean, all the Time Lord's names are nouns and then, out of nowhere, comes "THE RANI". What the hell is a Rani?

Well, yes, we know who she is. But is Rani actually a word?

TimeLord2 Well, yes, we know who she is. But is Rani actually a word? maybe it's a Gallifreyan word? Of course, maybe Time Ladies are different to Time Lords...after all, Romana is just a name. um..Romana's a Time Lady right? i don't watch the classic series... so...maybe females are named differently? or she could have just chosen that name randomly for intimidation. i dunno, i'm just speculating.

Maybe. I haven't watched much of the classic series either...maybe if we had another time lady to judge it off of? And by the way, can I use the pics in your sig?

Romana's full name is Romanadvoratrelundar. But the Doctor set to shortening it. If you don't know the scene. Here it is.
Doctor: We need to do something about your name. Romana: What's wrong with my name? Doctor: It's too long. By the time I say, 'watch out.....' what's your name again? Romana: Romanadvoratrelundar Doctor: Yes, by the time I get done saying that your dead.
Forget the exact lines here, but....
Doctor: how about Romana? Romana: I don't like Romana. Doctor: It's either Romana, or Fred. Romana: Alright, call me Fred. Doctor: Alright, come on Romana.

It was four.
What I've learned: Don't have a very long name when in a dangerous situation.

I've learned: Being "immortal", or seemingly so, really isn't that great.

I've learned that Time Lords are very open minded. Before you say anything , TL, remember the heavy flirting between The Doctor and Jack towards the end of season one? Makes one wonder what went on in the TARDIS when the doors closed! mrgreen

"The Doctor" and "The Master" arn't their birthnames. They chose them, I'm assuming when they graduated from the Acadamy. Remember in "The Sound of Drums?" The Master saying how he liked it when the Doctor called him by name... the Doctor replies "You should, you chose it. Psychatrist's Feild day." Their birthnames are Theta Sigma and Koschi (sp?). I think The Rani's name is Ushas or something to that extent, which means she chose it, so it might be Gallifreyan. Romana, I assume, chose to keep her name. She had just graduated when she met the Doctor for the first time...

There seems to be a big thing about the Doctor keeping his real name a secret.
