believing in one god/any god is kinda pointless. unless you can prove that it/them exist, then why believe in it. its a false hope, a useless hope, and you just waste your life going to church.

God is an interesting concept and what I believe to be a good and bad thing to believe in. I used to, because church was a lovely happy place to be, people liked me and I was generally uplifted and felt accepted. This I believe was the good. The bad is in the end they want you to conform like everyone else. You end up believing that something exists because you want it to exist, it's very much the story of the emperor's new clothes. And ends with you walking down the street naked and continuing beacause you can't believe you fell for it.

You know, there are some definitions of God which make God undeniably true and don't necessitate going to Church.

@ shinigami - i'm not validating the existence of god, but i think that the idea of one isn't completely pointless. i have a friend (we're both biologists) and she believes in god even without that much evidence. there's a comfort in thinking that someone is looking out for/over you. i guess i can understand that - how people need someone to always be there for them. as giga mentioned, you don't need to go to church to believe in god or to be faithful to him/her. i think god is something that, if you believe in it, it's in your heart, an inner gut thing. heheh.
to reiterate, i'm agnostic. ^_^ and darn proud of being unknowing! i get to question things for the better instead of blindly following.

I don't hate people who believe in god, or think they are stupid. It's just not somthing I believe. And don't believe it should be pushed onto others. Discuss it state you opinion and leave me to make up my own mind.
But God is definatly an interesting concept.

I believe in God, but it's not really something that I let govern my life. God, to me, is there and he created the universe, but that took an insane amount of time. The question that my mom raises up sometimes (which makes my dad roll his eyes) is: How long is a day to God? It could be millions to billions of our years. Who's to know?
My view on God changes sometimes and is pretty lax. While I believe God is there, I do not think that God is active in our world any more. Maybe once he did, but not any more. I think of him more like watching us to see what we'll do with the world we're given and the resources in it. Will we save it? Or will we abuse and destroy it?
Even though I do believe in God, it's more of an ambiguous term than anything. God can be more than one thing at one time, if you believe he can.
That's pretty much it in a nutshell. sweatdrop

I don't believe in God simply because everything is explainable, with a few yet uncorrected holes, without dragging an omipotent deity into it. It only creates confusion, and is often a hypocritical and contradictory way of looking at things.

As of now, I'm not entirely sure whether I believe in a diety or not. There is a lot of evidence denying the existance of an omnipotent being pulling the strings behind this crudely constructed farce, but at the same time there is evidence suggesting some kind of divine intervention in the world. My favourite being the number Phi - also known as the "Golden Mean".

I believe in YHWH, the God of Abraham. I believe in the Trinity, being God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit all in one, I believe that He's omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omniscient, all perfect, and out of time.

I'm an Etherist , so its slightly arguable that I'm pantheistic (God/The Divine IS the universe and everything in it.) and slightly arguable that I'm atheistic (The Ether is not a concious entity. And nor is any specific deity mentioned, although beings of higher levels of spiritual ascension and enlightment could certainly be mistaken for a God or Goddess)

I voted no. I am a strict atheist, and nothing short of a god reaching down and slapping me on the face is going to budge me. Peroid.
God (my definition)- A character said to have a hand in the making of the earth. Has followers who do it's bidding, and fight wiht the belivers of other gods. (also) Hott guy or girl. lol, that's how I see it.

If you don't believe in God, I think that defining yourself as an atheist is a bit daft. After all, there's no significance to something that does not exist and therefore no significance to the acknowledgement of that fact. A description of what you are should signify what you consider most important, metaphysically speaking. That's why I (and lots of people these days) call themselves rationalists (although I prefer the term neorationalism).
