"Your friend?" he asked, wondering who this friend could be. He had thought she had come here alone. But apparently not if there was a friend about somewhere. Darkfeather rested his chin on his paws, watching the ocean as the tide surged in and out with its lulling sounds. Some sleep would do him some good... then he could probably carry Setsumi even farther tomorrow.

"More like an annoying brother." Setsumi outstretched her arms to lay in the sand, used to its chill. She herself wasn't as tired, and simply rested her head on her paws quietly. The motions of the water would help pass the time. And she could use this time to think about grandkits, and how she would react once she saw them. Saw everyone else. It'd be a nice surprise.

Well of course she wasn't as tired.. she got a free ride and meal while Darkfeather did all the work. Definitely couldn't say he was a bad provider. However, he had no complaints, and seemed content to rest where he was. However, when Setsumi laid down in the sand, he lifted his head to look at her. "I see..." was his only responce, not bothering to press the issue further. She didn't seem too worried about this friend of hers. Darkfeather then lowered his head again, but this time on Setsumi's back... which was a bit more comfortable than his own paws.

And it was a very good free meal and ride. xD Setsumi did appreciate them, it wasn't often she recieved such things. Even with these comforts, she knew her vacation was drawing to a close. Having done what was needed, she had others to see back at home. That's the only reason it was a home, because of who lived there. Ears slid back on the small pressure, but she was otherwise unbothered by Darkfeather's pose. It was nice to have another presence nearby, because she wasn't a full loner. With a smile to herself, she allowed a small nap to close her eyes.

It wasn't long after he rested his chin on Setsumi's back that Darkfeather too fell into a deep slumber. He might not have a home to return to... but well... who knows. Maybe he would find a home where they were going. Whether he would ever be fully happy here, was yet to be seen... but atleast he was feeling more comfortable than he had been before.

Sleep came, but in an antsy jitter. Perhaps it was anxiety, of what Setsumi knew she would find. That's the only way she could explain her feelings about the newest additions to the family. Joy and hesitation both blended within her, however, about knowing who was the mother. How would that be accepted?
Setsumi gave an airy sigh, looking at the still dark sky. It was that time in early morning, where the night was becoming a fainter shade. But the moon was still up, providing the most light that reflected on the water. There was still time to sleep, but she just yawned at the option.

Setsumi's yawn was enough to stir Darkfeather from his slumber. Red eyes opening and lifting his head to look at her. "Something wrong?" he asked a bit groggily... wondering if she'd been awake this entire time. He didn't know about what was on her mind, but well.. he could smell her nervousness... it practicly leaked from her.

She stiffened, before realizing it didn't matter. Darkfeather was already awake. "Sorry about that." Ears pinned back, but she kept her chin to her paws. "Nothing's wrong. Just thinking." Was she nervous? She couldn't even tell; just wound up too much for sleep.

"You're a terribly liar" Darkfeather pointed out in his monotone voice, not at all impressed at Setsumi's endeavor to hide her worries and concerns from him. He then shrugged his shoulders and put his head on his paws. If she was going to be stubborn and not share, then he would just leave it. There would be no point in trying to unwillingly pry it out of her. Females can be so stubborn... he'd known that first hand... in this life and the last.

That made her stare, blinking in surprise. "No I'm not." She'd always managed to pull through before. Or had others just kept their mouths shut? Setsumi huffed to herself before rolling to her side, thinking. It really was no worry to her, she'd know how to handle it when the time came. No need to get grey hairs about something that was supposed to be joyful.
She reached out slim paws, patting them against Darkfeather's paws. "Thanks for coming." She'd feel bad to have left him in the jungle. And he had come of his own choice, so that was a nice touch.

A dubious look was given Setsumi as she denied what he just said. He smirked in amusement, "Are you calling me a liar?" he asked back in a mock tone. His attention then turned to her paws which were on his own.
"I couldn't very well protect you if I hadn't come" he said back to her thanks. And protecting her was what he intended to do. He would stand by her side as long as she allowed him to.
Again, Darkfeather moved to gently push his nose against Setsumi's neck. It was a comforting gesture if anything... for he still knew that something was bothering her. Although he couldn't really guess as to what. Why would she be nervous about going home? The only reason he could fathom is that her former mate would be there... but surely not.

A smirk plastered to her maw. "Of course not. And I'd certainly hope you aren't a liar." She fell silent to his words, just taking in their tone. Was he honest? His actions thus far had proven so. A cold nose pushed to her neck once more, and she sighed at the action. Reaching out her arms, she shuffled near till she was close enough to wrap them around Darkfeather's neck. It was much nicer to nuzzle into than the cool sand.
"Hmm, what about you? Are you nervous?" Her tails flicked about numbly, before finding warmth with the red ones beside her. What was Darkfeather's perspective thus far?

Well that was interesting... she hadn't pushed him away this time. Although you wouldnt find him complaining. Putting a paw over Setsumi, he tilted his head at her question. "Nervous? Why would I be nervous?" he asked. He paused, eyeing Setsumi skepticly, "Should I be nervous?" He doubted it... but you never knew. Perhaps her children would terrorize him. Huh. He could handle it.

Her head shook. "No, I suppose you have no reason to be nervous." Still, she couldn't help but feel she was displacing him. She had things to look forward to, but what about him? What would happen when he finally became bored of being protector? "I'm sure you'll find some good to stay in realm. Or at least visit often." As to children, there was only one who lived with her. And Terasu would be polite enough to friends as it is.

Whoa... wait a minute. Darkfeather stared at her in disbelief for a few moments. "You think I'm going to leave you?" he asked. The crested male gave a snort. What kind of guy did she think he was? His tails tapped irritably.. "I told you that I would protect you... and I will. That means not leaving your side." Bored of the protecting thing? He had never been bored of it as a Pidgeot. He had made it his duty to be Nikki's protector, friend... family... to him this was no different.
