Doom was one of the first big FPSs. One of them. Halo was inspired by Marathon, which was of the same period as Doom. Bungie has been around for a while.
Final Fantasy is important as far as creating a pocket for RPGs in the US that wasn't a Diablo/Ultima/Elder Scrolls/D&D type game.
Half-Life has done it's fair share, Valve is also a far better developer then id Software. That period of time from 1996 to 2001 birthed far more important games then Doom.
More games have broken away from the Doom philosophy then kept with it.

you're not getting my point......Doom inspired Half-Life. not only is it obvious, but if you check on Wikipedia, it mentions how the developers of Half-Life used Doom as a source of inspiration. by the way, another game that can rival Halo 3: BioShock. it has been out for 2 months now, but it actually looks better than Halo 3, and at some points in the game, is better than Halo 3.

HaloMaster9494 you're not getting my point......Doom inspired Half-Life. not only is it obvious, but if you check on Wikipedia, it mentions how the developers of Half-Life used Doom as a source of inspiration. by the way, another game that can rival Halo 3: BioShock. it has been out for 2 months now, but it actually looks better than Halo 3, and at some points in the game, is better than Halo 3.
Bioshock > Halo 3.
At all parts in the game.

Halo cant be on the DS anyway. it is published and owned by Microsft Game Studios. but Marathon could show up on the DS......

he's right. Ive tested the DS's online with Metroid Prime: Hunters and Mario Kart DS. it wasnt all that great. hopefully, the DS's next killer app, Quake 3: Arena DS (thats right. Quake is going portable) will have good online. then again, Metroid Prime: Hunters wasnt the greatest game on the DS, it just had good graphics and some excellent offline multiplayer.

Haze will probably end up just like Resistance: Fall of Man: over-hyped PS3 savior/Halo killer, but will fail to deliver anything special. unless if the game gets some gameplay elements that are actually unique (like Crysis), then its just going to be another addition to the already over-loaded list of generic FPS's.

Technically it's dumbed down compared to PC shooters to be more mainstream. Resistance is more like a PC shooter.
Besides nailing someone through a wall with the Auger is priceless. "Where the ********" boom!
It's a child of the Unreal/Quake shooters. Besides, Resistance actually had a decent story.
