It should be legal because before there were abortions, women would stick things in themselves to kill the baby like coat hangers and croche needles, and not only would that kill it, suceed in punturing their intestines and other things. Abortions not only make it safer for the baby, but also for the woman who is pregnant.

I am really disappointed in the overall oppinion of this thread. crying In my opinion, if you are "Mature" enough to have sex then you are "Mature" enough to handle a baby or at least deal with the aftermath long enough to put the baby up for adoption.
As far as making it leagal for heath reasons for the Mom or (stupid as it is) Financial reasons, that is nothing but crap. Come ON people!! Open your eyes!! Most of the people out there who want or are haveing abortions ARE NOT the ones with heath risks!!! They are the stupid teenagers who want to have sex and don't want to face up to the consiquences afterward!!
And as far as making it legal for rape victems all I'm going to say is this, WHAT IF YOU WERE THAT GROWTH THAT GOT ABORTED?

First of all, like I said. If you're mature enough to have sex, that means you take precautions. i.e, condoms and the pill. But those don't always work. Are you suggesting you stay a virgin until you're TRULY sure you want a child? Teen suicide rate not high enough for you?
Second. Yeah, you're right. If the pregnancy kills the mother, boo-hoo. She doesn't need to abort.
Are you kidding me?? I have a cousin, and she's very small, like, literally. And she was told that it would be very dangerous for her to become pregnant, and if she was, it might kill her.
And the financial thing, that can go both ways. If you're a crack addict with 5 kids, then boo-hoo for you.
But if you're just very poor, and you already have 3 mouths to feed, another mouth might just starve the family.
And yeah, for the rap victims..
So if they get raped, and get pregnant, then they have to a) suffer through the pregnancy, and b) give birth to a child they didn't want and that reminds them of the painful memory?
Wow..imagine how loved that child will be.

I do believe it should be legal because of the problem of overpopulation in this world. It should definetly be legal, but not beacuse of over population. There are other better ways of population control. I like China's idea of a child limit. But thats beside the point abortions should be leagal, as long as you take into account weather or not this child would be supported in this world. Is he going to be hunger ridden, disease striccen walking corpse? If so i think its right for the mother to decide his lifes better if he never was born. I think its pure criminal for a mother to kill her child cuz here lazy a** can handle one though. I realize there are teenage births and people might argue that the teen can support a child at that age. i hope i dont offend any one by saying this but she shoulda thought about getting pergenant before she did. Oviously there are special cases but for the most part i think this is true

I think of it this way. It should only be legal if it's LIFE threatening. NOT LifeSTYLE threatening. This whole "It's MY body" thing... It's not working. First. Sure, the fetus is in YOUR body. It's growing in YOUR body. But... It's most definately NOT your body you're sending to Oblivion.
I think that, to kill a fetus is to kill off some lucky someone's soulmate. Why would you do that? Wouldn't you be PISSED if you knew that the most compatable soul out there for you is in a trash heap in south L.A. ?
I'm not going into religion. THIS has nothing to do with birthing. Trust me, it has SOMETHING to do with it. No doubt. But just... think of this. Its becoming the "COOL" thing to do, when you make an uh-oh....
"Lyke! Oh Em GEE! I'm Pregnant!? Help me OBGYN MAN! I'm only 19! I wanna party! I wanna have more sex! Beer!" well... yea... uh... do that too many times... make too many uh-ohs... and when it's time that you WANT a child... your Uterine lining will be scratched to Hell (No religious connotations. Rather, a pun.) My Aunt had that happen to her... she'd gotten I think 4 abortions... So... Your call ladies.
That's all I can think on that for now.

Just another thought:
If abortions were illegal, women would still find a way to get them. There are a few people who would perform an illegal abortion, with the right amount of money. These abortions would also, for the most part, be dangerous to the woman getting them, because the people most likely would not be liscensed doctors.
And another thought:
How is the guy punished when the girl gets pregnant? If abortions were illegal, the girl would have to sit through nine months of pregnancy while the guy gets to go do whatever he wants.

And if you were the person with health risks, finacial risks, or a rape victim, how would you feel about that comment? You might think that finances are not a problem, but there are people out there that a pregnancy is definatly life-threatening. Health risks are self-explanatory, and rape victims didn't even ask to have sex, so it's not their fault.

in one of my classes we had to create s bill and one of the classmate created a bill to make abortion illegal unless the baby was a result of rape. i thought i was wrong be cause there are lot of ppl who plan to not a have and use protection to prevent pregnacy and they still convice. when i asked them about that they said to the call that it would still be illegal. i personally think that it should stay legal and anyone that says otherwise should rethink their reasoning about abortion.

ABORTION SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!Abortion is illegal and there is no way that it is not murder! Abortion is killing an tiney human being for your own stupid reasons! Do you even know what they do to it?! They suck the baby out into a sort of vacume witch cruches the baby to death!
