Nightmare flexed his fingers "and now I have the chance to beat Bane twice, so what does that tell you?"
*shivers* >< I hate waking up early and it being cold.

Yes... we know, more commonly reffered to as Hook Swords. *bops Haur on head with inflatable Shao Kahn hammer* XP Stryker never really threw his baton, he just threw granades, but he has a throw move that throws the opponent.

Look at the examples of hook swords in pop culture and you'll see why I make the distinction. I'm referring specifically to the hook swords in the MGS3 Guy Savage minigame. While those weapons bear a strong resemblence to hook swords, they have a lot of critical differences. Now maybe it can be attributed to a design choice, or the designers not actually knowing what a hook sword looks like, but I like to think of the weapons wielded by that character to be more like a western hook sword, or more a blending of eastern and western styles. That's why I refer to them as Chinese hook swords rather than just hook swords, since they have the classical and recognizable design of those hook swords. You might say it's iconic.

I've never played MGS3 so I have no idea their were "western" Hook Swords. I've seen the "chinese" ones in Last Airbender, Mortal Kombat, and Deadliest Warrior.

Well it's not an official designation. People don't generally go about referring to one thing as a Chinese hook sword and another as a western hook sword. It's a distinction I make myself, so only I would know about it. I only say it to explain why I chose to put the "Chinese" before hook sword.

So to avoid confusion from the two, we common folk reffer to them as hook swords.
