Once they were out of hearing range from the room (quite a ways, since it was elven hearing range that they had to worry about), Earendil turned to Lin and asked softly, "What do you think? Of him? Or the entire situation?"
Personally he thought the man was very brave indeed - especially since he had faced the creature before and knew, more than anyone, what to expect from it.

Lin looked thougthful, she didn't like the entire situation... at all. She had already gathered some information about it from looking back and didn't like what she saw.
"He's nice... once you get his trust," Lin replied slowly, "I don't know if it's the stress of meeting that creature again, which it could be because no one wants to face it again, but... he came in very defensive. Which brings the question of how his meeting with Aragost is going to turn out...."
Maybe Aragost wouldn't get so angry with another person there... she wondered in part if that's why Sir Valdemar asked Sir Aranel to come. There was a small lump in her throat at the mention of Aragost's name, there was still that guilt she had to deal with.

Earendil nodded slowly. "But doing what he has determined to do, despite his fear or stress or whatever you would like to call it ... that is what makes him brave," he said softly.
Then he looked down at Lin again. "And I don't know if I'm curious to meet this Aragost fellow, or if I should be afraid to do so."

He was brave, Lin wasn't going to deny that any time soon.
"Hmmm.... Aragost isn't that bad... he just prefers his privacy that's all... and this is really going to intrude on it. You know the last time Sir Valdemar intruded on his privacy he was, upset would be a very light term for it."

Earendil nodded. "And obviously, dragging more people out to meet him is an invasion of his privacy," he concluded, "so best forget about it."
He grinned. "But that just makes me more curious."
He chuckled softly. "Anyways, let's head back to my study now. We can finish our plans without Tinuviel ... I have a feeling Ninako is going to be keeping her for a while now."

"Probably," Lin agreed turning in the direction of the study.
She really hoped she would get to see Sir Aranel again in the Borderlands.
