((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) Lula took a deep breath of the air and prepared for something she didn't expect to be so difficult, but several times more deadly. She set three of the shuriken down and grabbed the fourth in her hand, looking out at the field and preparing herself. It wasn't half as hard to catch a shuriken as it was to throw it and have it return... But she couldn't afford to mess up too many times... There wasn't anyone out here to save her if she killed herself. She brought the shuriken back in the practiced technique, and whipped it forward, watching the full extent of its amazing arc before it raced back toward her. She took a breath and got ready for it, cracking her fingers in preparation.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2
The fuuma shuriken can be thrown in two ways: One way is used by amateurs, and is the technique in which the shuriken flies straight from the thrower. The second technique is more difficult. It requires the user to throw the shuriken in such a way that it returns to the thrower. This technique, however, is dangerous in that it opens the user to the return flight of the shuriken. This can be deadly, as the shuriken can injure the thrower on the return flight. This is the second part of the training, that uses the mastered original throw, and requires the user to catch the shuriken on its return flight.

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) Lula jumped over the shuriken and caught it, landing on the other side, breathing hard. She'd barely caught that... She remembered every detail of it in bright musical notes... The blade was coming at you... You turned to the left and leaped over, not to be flashy, but to avoid being gutted. The blade touched your stomach... You barely swung your legs up high enough... You almost lost a finger or four on the shuriken's blade... But then you got your hand in the ring, and grabbed the shuriken while you were directly over it... You touched down on the other side... And here she was, breathing like the shuriken had just been at her throat. She took a steadying breath and prepared herself for the next throw. Deep breaths... She stood straight and hurled the shuriken into the field, watching it fly back to her and trying to get her timing right.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) HP: 35/40 Lula reached out to catch the shuriken, and it caught her knuckle on the ring. She got lucky, though. The shuriken flew down into the earth vertically without cutting her in half. She was breathing hard again... That would have killed her... She was shaking... She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. She shook herself out. It was a fluke. It won't happen again. It won't. She picked the shuriken up and primed it again, aiming with her left hand before she pulled back, spinning forward and using her left hand to aim again. She pulled her left arm aside and brought the shuriken forward, releasing it right where her left hand had been. Another gargantuan arc and the shuriken was whistling toward her. She took deep breaths, but they started speeding up as she waited for the shuriken. And it wasn't waiting for her to get ready.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) HP: 35/40 She watched the shuriken approaching her and everything went into slow motion again. Notes... Notes and more notes... THERE! She reached out and grabbed the shuriken, spinning with the force of its travel. She ended up facing the same way she'd been facing to begin with. The force had carried in a full circle. She laughed. She'd survived. That meant that it had been just a fluke. She wasn't going to kill herself with this. She took another breath and threw the shuriken again, getting ready to catch the blade that was currently flying through the air towards her. It still amused her to throw something at herself, but no time to pay attention to that. She prepared herself as best she could.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) HP: 35/40 Lula watched the shuriken approach inch by deadly inch. She reached out and caught it much the same way as before. She reached her right hand across her body, grabbed the middle of the shuriken and was dragged in a circle by the force. She laughed. She was getting the hang of this. It was going to become a habit. She was going to perfect this technique by the end of the day, she knew it. She took the shuriken and launched it over the field, close enough to the ground that it cut the grass it was flying by, the grass flying up around the shuriken in its path, making it look like something other than a vicious weapon of death in its flight. But it was a vicious weapon of death... And it was coming to her right side instead of her left...Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) HP: 35/40 Lula watched the shuriken coming and she didn't have time to adjust her position. Time stopped. Blades of grass were singing brightly as they were sliced in half by a razor-thin blade from a blade that was gigantic. It was flying straight to her right side. She reached out and grabbed the blade in an almost a momentary instant. Suddenly the world roared to life around her. She dug her feet in and slid back five feet, leaving two gouges in the earth. The shuriken hadn't spun one inch since she'd grabbed it. She wasn't breathing hard. She was perfectly calm. And she looked to her side at the shuriken she was holding. It was amazing what she'd just done... "Wow... This not-so-wee baddie has a skill at this. I like all of these for that... So far, there's not been a one that hasn't surprised me..." She grinned, not leaving any of her blades out of her praising for fear of them rebelling.
Lula grinned and readied the shuriken in her hand for another throw. It didn't take much. She took a step forward and was ready for the throw. It whipped forward, and shredded through the grass, turning and coming back at her right side. She wanted to see if that was the better option.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) HP: 35/40 She gouged another two paths in the ground, catching the shuriken on the right side with not as much success as before. It was still spinning. She had an idea, though. She took the shuriken while it was still spinning, and launched it forward without pause. She was going to find out just what she could do with these. And she was getting the hang of catching them, so she could afford to experiment. Besides, she couldn't baby herself forever. The shuriken flew off without a hitch. It ripped through the grass spinning faster than normal. That might be useful. She watched as it came back to her... Spinning faster than normal... "Didn't be thinkin' about that little detail, now did I?" She buckled down and prepared for impact or death, whichever came first.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) HP: 30/40 The shuriken hit Lula's hand and yanked her back, in a bad way. The jerk made her shoulder sore, but it wouldn't lock it up. She was dragged back as the shuriken drilled into the earth, holding her there before she gave up and let go. She took a deep breath and she was breathing hard again. She had gotten lucky. It wouldn't happen much more... She rolled her shoulder and massaged it with her free hand. Ok... That didn't work all too well. Shaking it off, she rolled her neck and ripped the shuriken out of the ground, flinging the shuriken forward again. The dirt was gone as soon as the blade left her hand. It tore through the air and she kept her eye on it as it came back toward her on the right side.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 14)) HP: 30/40 She knew she was going to get it. As it came toward her, she grabbed the shuriken and it folded close in one fluid motion. She laughed. She had the technique down. She wasn't going to need to worry about it failing her in battle. She reached down and folded all four shuriken, placing them back into the holster and rolling her shoulders as they fell into place and the single shuriken appeared on her back. She was going to love this. She was never going to lose to that Uchiiha again. Except for the fact that she couldn't use her weapons against him... Although just the threat would be enough to stop him in his tracks. She could kill him with a single shot. She grinned. All that she needed to become a shinobi in the eyes of the village is to learn some jutsu. She would be perfectly capable of surviving anything they threw at her.
Now she just wished she had something to practice on... Something living... Something that could fight back... And she wouldn't get it... She was too good to fight anyone... She sighed. She needed a true release... Something to measure how powerful she was. But there wasn't anything. She pursed her lips and thought. There just wasn't anything worthwhile to do... Unless she could get someone to teach her something useful or start turning tricks for money. That wasn't a good way for a shinobi to make her living. She beat her mind to come up with an answer. Fighting a chuunin might work... She might kill them, though. Another sigh. The truth was that the only thing she could do was to keep training and wait for something she could go all out on showed up. If only she'd picked a less-lethal specialization.
Did I really pick this? She shook her head. She hadn't picked this. The music had. And she had faith that it had chosen correctly. How else could she explain the overwhelming success she'd had? It wouldn't have happened in any other field. She nodded. This was her calling. This was her true self. She wasn't going to stop this before she'd been able to use it in the field. She lifted her shuriken and looked at them. There has to be something.Fuuma Shuriken: Double-edged throw Part 2

((Roll = 1d20 + 3 DC: 15)) Times like these she wished she knew kage bunshin. In fact, she'd have to inquire as to the ability to learn such a technique. Lord knows that being able to make four of yourself and throw twenty-four shuriken would be a helpful skill... Oh, well... She'd just have to practice throwing more shuriken than just six... Or more shuriken than just one fuuma shuriken. But they wouldn't teach her anything special until she graduated... Spoilsports...
She'd probably need to improve her chakra before she could learn them anyway, so she'd just need to kill two birds with one stone. She decided on learning a jutsu form the syllabus scroll, as difficult as it might be. She pulled the scroll out and began reading through it, searching for something that would actually be useful.. No... No... Yeah! That would be it. bunshin no jutsu would be useful. Misdirection was almost as good as throwing more shuriken. It would suit her purposes just fine... And it would help her to learn more about chakra, and increase her stores.
Lula stepped away form the stone and slipped the scroll into her pouch, closing her eyes and focusing her chakra into her body from deep within herself. Tiger, boar, ox dog. The notes sounded inside her, and she waited for the report of her progress. She didn't need to expel it yet, but she needed to know she was doing it right.Bunshin no Jutsu For the first part of the Bunshin training, the students would practice their handseals: Tiger, Boar, Ox, and Dog while building up their chakra. ((Roll = 1d20 + 3 DC: 15)) She felt the discordant harmony pulse through her, and knew the answer to her question: She had failed this time. She nodded. That was fine. She wasn't supposed to just know how to do these things. That was only for shuriken. She knew she was good with them, but she hadn't been the best with chakra matters. She took a breath and rolled her shoulders and neck. She was going to get this by working hard and not giving up. That was that.
She felt the steady thrumming of her chakra, and felt the chakra resonating to fill her. Tiger, boar, ox, dog. Four notes. Would they form the right chord? Who knew... But she knew she was going to believe in herself and wasn't going to doubt herself for even one second. This was going to happen, and she was going to make it happen.Bunshin no Jutsu For the first part of the Bunshin training, the students would practice their handseals: Tiger, Boar, Ox, and Dog while building up their chakra. ((Roll = 1d20 + 3 DC: 15)) Brilliant harmony. She had got it. She felt it within her. The chakra swelled inside her, like a string chorus, but she trapped it inside, not releasing it for the fear of wasting the chakra. She wanted to have this just right before she started practicing the jutsu. Two steps. One step at a time. That was the goal. In fact, dividing everything into two parts seemed like a damned good way to get the most out of her practice. She was going to try and do this as much as possible. Otherwise, it's all over too fast, and it's almost worthless.
She took another deep breath and formed the seals. Tiger. Boar. Ox. Dog. She could feel the notes inside her, resonating within the already resounding chakra. But would it be resonance or dissonance in the end?Bunshin no Jutsu For the first part of the Bunshin training, the students would practice their handseals: Tiger, Boar, Ox, and Dog while building up their chakra. ((Roll = 1d20 + 3 DC: 15)) Dissonance. The notes clashed in a vivid burst of color. It was a total failure, and it suppressed the chakra she had built up. She shook her head. She needed to try harder. Or try less. Either way, she needed to get it right. It shouldn't take long, though. She was going to get the hang of this eventually. And she wasn't stopping until she could complete the jutsu. Closing her eyes, Lula tried to hear the notes again. Tiger, boar, ox, dog. The notes echoed, and she tried to force her chakra to the surface again.Bunshin no Jutsu For the first part of the Bunshin training, the students would practice their handseals: Tiger, Boar, Ox, and Dog while building up their chakra. ((Roll = 1d20 + 3 DC: 15)) Lula felt the harmony, but it wasn't as satisfying as it had been. She shrugged. The chakra filled her, being drawn to the surface. It had worked, and that's all that matters. She closed her eyes and tried to memorize the feeling. It was important that she know this. Even if she never used it in a fight, it was required to know it before she could graduate. And she needed to graduate before she could learn any real tricks. So she needed to get this right now while she could. Lula focused on that feeling and tried to pick the correct notes out of the endless possibilities. Focusing, she formed the seals again Tiger. ((Roll = 1d20 + 3 DC: 15)) She closed her eyes for a moment. Of course. She had failed the attempt. She nodded and tried to get focused. It wasn't important that she failed the original practices. She just had to persevere and she would succeed. She didn't know how much the other students were training. She needed to be ready for anything. And she would be farther ahead than any of them. She was going to become powerful. So powerful that she might have to be given her rank prematurely, just to allow her to progress. She grinned at the thought. Not only would she leave her friends in the dust, she would be able to lead their missions. She would be able to protect them. She wasn't going to let any of her friends get hurt. Was that why she was training? To protect them? Did they need protecting? She didn't know. But she was going to be ready to do it, anyway. She was going to be stronger. She was going to be faster. She was going to be able to take care of whatever stood in their way. She remembered Kazumei when he saw the ANBU.... She wasn't going to let anything happen to Kazumei. Nor to Abel. Nor to Hoshi. This was her goal. She wouldn't be a shinobi until she could protect them. And she couldn't protect them until she'd been given permission to teach herself whatever she needed to teach herself.
She prepared for her training with a new resolve. Tiger. Boar. Ox. Dog. The notes sounded, and she was going to get this right, no matter what it cost her. Arms. Legs. She didn't care any more. She was going to protect them one way or another. They were the only people who treated her like a human. And she was not going to be anything less.Bunshin no Jutsu For the first part of the Bunshin training, the students would practice their handseals: Tiger, Boar, Ox, and Dog while building up their chakra.
