Lore chuckled as he rubbed his shoulder thoughtfully, he smiled impishly like he was thinking of something. Indeed he was, but it would not be proper and not here. Besides, Elnara was so ticklish it wouldn't be fair.

Elnara grinned back at Lore, but one eye narrowed suspiciously.
"What are you thinking?" she asked him. "That's a very mischievous look you have ..."
At her words, both Storm and Starr looked up at Lore's face.
"Why do you say that, Mama?" Starr asked curiously.
Elnara's grin widened, but she didn't reply. It was the twinkle in his eye, the way one corner of his mouth went up a bit higher than the other side, the way it was between a smirk and a smile.

"Because your mother knows me very well," Lore replied back, though his look didn't minick hers, there was certainly the sense that mischief and playfulness was in the air.
He didn't know why, he supposed away from the city and the library he felt very free at the moment. Nevermind the fact this slow exploration of their relationship was taking turns that surprised even him, in a good way of course.

"Oh," Storm nodded wisely. "Okay."
Starr looked up at Lore, a curious expression on her face. "And do you know Mama very well, too, Papa?" she asked.
Elnara giggled - she couldn't help it. The wording of her question had just been ... well, if she didn't know better, it wouldn't have made any sense. As it was, it was just cute.

Lore laughed softly at that question, Starr probably meant it more than just simply knowing Elnara.
"I'd like to think so," he murmured.
Of course one could not know everything about the person they loved, that wouldn't be possible, but that is... what kept life interesting, wasn't that what someone once said?

"I'd have to say better than most," Elnara smiled at Lore, speaking to him rather than to Starr. There were really only a few things that she hadn't spoken to him about - Sasku, and her family history. They were doubtless important and she really should speak with him about them, but there never seemed to be a good moment for it.

Amara returned to the living room just then with a tray that held three tiny cups of juice for the children and some cookies for Storm and Starr.
"Here you are," she smiled, setting it down on the table. "E smachle."
She moved to sit on the other couch again, and grinned up at Elnara and Lore. "So, what did I miss?" she asked in a light tone.

"Just a bit of talk about knowing," Lore smiled enigmatically though he was smiling at Elnara.
He was glad that he knew her at least a better than most, as she said, though he wasn't sure about that.

Amara smiled at Lore and Elnara, guessing by the looks on their faces something of what the knowing had been about.
"Always a good conversation to have," she agreed. "Constantly learning ... all of us."

The twins just about pounced on the cookies, which were enormous in their tiny hands, and in a matter of moments they were both nibbling contentedly, silent once more. Skye, on the other hand, made sure to say a polite thank you to Amara before taking her cup.
"It's just nice that we have the opportunity," Elnara nodded. "I may not know much about immortals, but I can't help but feel that in their lifetimes, even if they spend sixty, seventy, or eighty years with their loves ones, or doing something or traveling, it can't be enough time."
She leaned back against the couch and murmured, "In that respect at least, immortality is a blessing."

Lore chuckled at that thought, it was true in a way it would take a life time (a human one anyhow) to get to know fully a person, but he didn't mind, immortal or not that was part of life.
Though she was right, there would be no way he could learn as much as he did within a mortal lifespan.
"And depending on where you live, you could travel forever and still not know everything," he added softly.
Since time also changed things, but he was sure she knew what he meant, having seen, or even only scraped the top of what was the people called Gaia.

"I think that could go for anywhere," Elnara remarked thoughtfully. "After all ... I traveled here for a long time ... over a decade ... and even though the Four Lands, just the continent itself, isn't that large ... I know for a fact that I can't know more than half of what there is to know about it, if even that."
She laughed softly. "Especially about the last ... several ... years ... How long has it been now, Amara? Since I first left, I mean."

Amara paused to think about it. "You disappeared in what, 13? And it's 49 now, so you've been gone ... thirty-six years."
She closed her eyes and nodded her head as if counting the years out one by one, then looked at Elnara again and nodded. "Thirty-six years. Though I can tell it hasn't been that long for you ..."
She had no idea how the time difference worked, but even if Elnara had remained at the castle for those sixteen years, she was certain that she would have looked a bit older, if only more mature. Not that she looked childish, she just looked ... well ... young.
Of course, she was speaking from her own experience, and she was over three thousand years old, too - so to her, everyone looked young, because most of them were, in comparison to her.

Lore blinked, if he had recalled Elnara hadn't been in Gaia that long, but of course she said she had travelled here for nearly a decade but still... roughly if he could recall her age that was over twenty years away from here at least.
"That is far longer than I thought it would be..."

Elnara stared at Amara, equally startled.
"Has it really been that long?" she asked perplexedly. "It can't have been ... that's impossible ..."
