I know a place that will translate from Romaji to hiragana and katakana I think as you type it. It's posted somewhere in the main forums. It kinda got lost though.

The link's correct, Gaia just screws it up for some reason. After you click on the link, look up in the URL bar and you'll see a bunch of symbols and numbers after the link. Just erase those and hit enter again.

Yeah i got it to work. I have a list of a couple sites that do pretty good translations as you type. However...my romaji isn't that good....meaning I don't know much and I don't know the grammar incredibly well. Do you know of a site that will translate romaji to english and vice versa?

Hajimemashite, Arekusu-san. Hai, sore wa tadashii desu.

Demo, "Juugosai" to itte kudasai.

Nice to meet you.
Yes, that's right.

But, please say "Juugosai".

(To introduce yourself, you don't need the 'watashi wa' since you're the obvious subject. You can also say 'Namae wa ___ desu', namae being name, or '____ to moushimasu' which means you are called ____.)
(Sai is age, and you say it after the number ^^)

Unfortunately there is no translator advanced enough to be able to accurately translate Japanese to English because their grammar systems have very few similarities. I highly doubt computers will be advanced enough to do that sort of thing for quite a long time, too.

Seems like it would be VERY hard and take decades to build something accurate enough and it still might not be perfect, with languages that aren't related at all (even if you program so many important rules and such, there's the problem of subjects and things like that). Most translators are fairly inaccurate, but I do admit, though the one I use sometimes makes real simple mistakes, I have gotten a few surprisingly accurate suffix meanings and phrases out of it. Not totally useless ^^

As for stuff that does romaji, most sites that do have things with romaji don't often have very extensive stuff. There are some good dictionaries, though. (there's one linked in Learning Japanese subforum somewhere, I think it's in a stickie or something)
