Number_09 Plastic mouthpieces - Your thoughts?
Never used one, but seems like it'd be dam useful in cold weather. Having my lips freeze to my mouthpiece during practice isn't exactly fun... rolleyes

Yeah, that's why I'm looking into one. We've been asked to play at TWO Christmas concerts and if you've ever been up to Ottawa, ON, even in mid-November, you know it's damned cold for brass playing.

Thank goodness it doesnt ever get that cold where I'm at!
Anyhoo, random question: What do you all do about tired chops? I think about how at the end of football games how hard it is to go any higher than g above the staff, and when my lips are killing me. Anyone has any quick and useful remedies?

It's really pretty nice; my range isn't quite where it needs to be in order to play 1st/2nd parts. Especially since I have no time to practice anymore sweatdrop

Especially since I have no time to practice anymore sweatdrop I used to be on 2nd/3rd/4th in my school board band (mostly grade 4 and 5 pieces). All the 2nd/3rd/4th parts were about as hard as the 1st parts (grade 2.5 and 3) we had at my school so I never really got a break. sweatdrop And this year is even more painful 'cause I'm playing 1st/2nd in boardwide and still 1st at school. So my chops are in for a good workout this year (already burned out once).

I play 3rd parts on one of my bands...and only because I can support the rest of the section with my volume and air smile so if you get a 3rd part don't feel bad...the band depends on you a whole lot as the foundation of sound

Because there's already a Trombone Sectional thread; your thread was a repeat. And for future reference, the Administration thread is there for people to ask these kind of questions.

Don't know if this really counts or not.. but I'll probably be learning the Trumpet. I think I want to play something other then drums next concert season. (Drums + Concert Season = Holy boredom.)
