-Rinoa chuckles and clasps Squall's hand between both of hers as they walk, calming down already. The smell of the leather on his jacket always comforts her, and she catches a few whiffs of it and smiles, snuggling into his side and letting him guide her.-

In a few minutes time, they had reached the balcony overlooking the outside of Garden. The sky above them was perfectly clear, letting the hundreds of thousands of stars shine their light down on them.
The night air was also a little chilly, so he slid off his leather jacket and draped it over her body to keep her warm. After doing that, he put his left arm around her, pulling her close to him, and just stared up at the stars.

-Rinoa sighs contentedly and huddles into Squall's jacket, breathing in the smell of it, and leans her face into his shoulder, slipping her arms around his waist and linking her hands at the other side. She stares over the landscape toward the ocean, watching the starlight glittering over the water like fiber optics, and smiles; this is what she's been in need of all day.-
Isn't it all so pretty? If the world could be like this all the time, I would live outside.

Squall nodded quietly and looked up into the sky, leaning his head to the side to rest it on top of Rinoa's, gently squeezing her shoulder through the fabric of his jacket.
He paused, mulling over the things he'd been thinking about all day. About a normal life, no more fighting...

He smirked ruefully, looking down at the plains some stories below them, then turned his head back toward her.
Yeah, even then.
Squall sighed, and looked out past the railing, toward the mountains in the distance.
It hit me hard today, just how fortunate I am...

Squall smirked again, but it faded quickly enough into his thoughtful expression of old, back before he and Rinoa had finally succumbed to the others' matchmaking efforts.
No, not that. I was having to write letters home to the parents of all the kids who died yesterday. Somewhere in the middle of it, I thought of you, and then...
He took a deep breath and sighed, shoring up his words.
I just suddenly started thinking, 'What if I hadn't been fast enough?' What if I hadn't saved you? I... I don't think that I could live without you, Rin. Not anymore. I don't know how I managed to survive before I met you.
