Sryne I want to build a new computer sometime in the next year or so... I don't need it, but I want to. It's going to have two graphics cards and a dual core processor. I'm considering liquid cooling to help it all stay in good health. All together it'd cost over $6000 to buy it prebuilt, but I can build it myself for under $2000. stressed /nerdism Yeah, I love the iMacs now, with that double processor. ... tell me about liquid cooling? I've never heard of it used on a comp before. Just... y'know. Cars. Nuclear power plants. Things like that. xd I think I'll have to get myself a "computer building for dummies" book or something.

@Bestmom: You can get good deals on comps these days though, it's only really good to build your own if you're like me and go all out.
@Ananda: We'll start some seminars and I'll teach you what I know. blaugh faolan can come too, hehe.
@faolan: Water cooling is pretty cool... You've got a radiator to cool the water, a pump, to push the water through the tubing and a heat block which transfers the heat from your CPU into the heat block and from there the warm air is dispersed into your case where fans will remove the access air. The downside is the radiator itself creates a lot of heat, so it's often hard to balance the heat so that you aren't actually just creating more heat inside the case than you can disperse. With most computers, it's safer to just use a heatsink/fan combination on the CPU.

@Bestmom: Hehe I never thought of it that way...
@Syrne: Sounds like it'll heat up a room, if nothing else. Probably not good if the ventilation's poor?
I'll be at your seminar, bright and early.
... early being noonish, natch!

@Bestmom: You have some choices depending on where you go, but I know what you mean and you're right. The choices don't even compare to what you can do when you do it all yourself. You just have to make sure all the components are compatable.
@Ananda: As soon as I figure out what I'm supposed to start teaching exactly. sweatdrop
EDIT:@faolan: Hehe, computers period will heat up a room, but the water cooling definately doesn't help much for that you're right. Good ventalation or a fan pulling the air outside would definately help.
Bright and early? gonk Nobody told me classes HAD to be in the morning.
