maenad nuri The unfortunate thing is that a lot of them are really good people -- it's just that I don't think they've ever really been challenged on this -- and I haven't spoken up before. I'm going to have to start, because to remove myself would be to basically cut out my entire off-line social circle. best of luck. it took me quite some time to finally be able to approach people who i've been close friends with over some fairly important things. and, it's been much better than it was before. best of luck, either way.

I find the best way is just to ask lots of questions about something. Of course, I've also dealt with white classmates who thought it was okay to use n~ so long as no one obviously black was around. *sighs*
