(xD )
Andrea watched Evacy out of the corner of her eye, grinning a bit as she slowed so she could keep up with her. "Mmm...that depends, maybe you would have, maybe you wouldn't: it all depends on what sort of lifestyle you led down there." she said as some of her hair fell against her face once more.

There are no such things as coincidence."I guess." Evacy sighed, shifting the weight of the pack. "God, my shoulders are really sore now... Not that I would admit it to Pix. I have no idea how you do it."
((Sorry for the short post.)) There is only hitsuzen

Gregor heard Evacy saying that her shoulders were sore and he wanted to help her especially since he didn't have much stuff of his own, but he knew that Pix wouldn't let that happen. He wasn't really sure if he cared what Pix did, but he didn't need to have Pix getting mad at him already when he just joined too. In many senses he was a new recruit too, he just had experience. He would try to figure something out later to help them out, but for now his arms were tied.

As he walked, Ryken wondered how he always got himself mixed up in things that he didn't really have any part of otherwise. He muttered, "I've gotta start keeping away from jobs for the military, that's what it is..." to himself as he walked. He found himself looking at the other people in the group, particularly Evacy, the only person in the group whose name he knew other than Pix and Tanner. He noted that she looked a little uncomfortable with her load, which was understandable but necessary. She would get used to it after a while, and would be altogether better off for it.
He wondered why Pix had made him one of his Corporals. He understood the other man's station, since it seemed they somehow knew each other and Pix had an idea of his skill, but he hadn't even seen Ryken unsheath his sword, nonetheless fight. Pix really couldn't know what Ryken was capable of, but, as it seemed to Ryken, that he had simply guessed that Ryken was experienced because he already had done some work as a mercenary. Maybe Pix had heard of him, somehow, but he doubted that. Still, it didn't keep him from wondering.

Andrea tilted her head slightly when she mentioned that her load was making her sore. She have a crooked half-smiled before speaking. "Don't worry Evacy, I can give you a message whenever we get back..and just be glad that you only have to haul around fifty pounds at the moment, it could be alot more than that." Andrea lightly rolled her shoulders and head around, hearing and feeling her neck crack and pop when she did so.
(The thing Pix was singing? I liked it xP )

They traveled until evening, walking through the valley between two great snowcapped mountains and through a tunnel. Tanner and Lucas seemed to know where they were going the whole time. Arriving in a clearing a little above the base of a mountain, everyone put their packs down and rested. They were near a sharp decline in the land, the base of the mountain swept down into the ground below- save for a small path they had traveled up. Tanner sat on a stump, overtly squinting at a temple about ten minutes higher up the mountain. "We're going there," he said quietly. Kai laid flat on the grassy hill, surrounded by stumps of trees. He was breathing hard, the pack was heavy and they hadn't stopped the whole time. Lucas leaned against a withered, dead tree. It stood out as the only tree that hadn't been felled in this area of the mountain. He was also looking at the temple.

((Just feel like pointing out it couldn't really get much worse >> Your standard grunt infantry man in the army today carries no more than 70 lbs, and 50 is usually the norm. Even then they have to train specifically for carrying that weight during extended marching sessions. I know my war sheet :'D ))

Ryken sat down on one of the stumps within a couple feet of Kai, looked over at him and chuckled a little. "Don't worry, you'll be more used to the weight and the pace in a couple more days like that." He was tired and sweating enough for him to pull his coat off and drape it across his pack, but he was barely winded and far from exhausted. He wondered about these people, and what was so special about them. He had been getting the feeling that Tanner was friends with this guy.
"So... you're Tanner's friend, right?" He rolled his shoulders and relaxed a little more. "The name's Ryken, although I suppose you probably heard me introduce myself this morning. If'n you don't mind my asking, What would your name be?"
(I was feeling a bit of writer's block earlier today, so I didn't post before.)

"His name be boy, until I can be proven otherwise," Pix snorted as he marched by. He really hated temples. ((Lulz writer's block))

(Same, I've been trying to think of something to post..x.x )
Andrea plopped down on the ground, letting out a sigh before wiping the sweat from her forhead: it was pretty warm outside. She let the back slide off of her then fanned herself with one of her hands for a few moments, her gaze trailing off towards the temple as Pix resumed his pissy mood. Andrea then shut her eyes and let herself lean back until she fell over, sprawled out as she rested for a bit. "Hrmm..don't mind him, he's just a jackass.." she muttered to Ryken, not really caring if Pix heard or not.

Kai sat up and propped himself up against a stump. He had regained his breath. "Yep, me and him have been best friends our whole lives. Nice to meet you Ryken. I'm Kai," he said, extending a hand to shake. He smiled, thinking that he should have introduced himself earlier. At least he was finally getting used to being above ground. He was starting to slip back into himself, brave and outspoken. Pix's comments had made him realize that he needed to stop being so timid as a result of this change in environment. He felt ready to be himself again. He would try his best to be a warrior. Tanner smiled, he had noticed the gradual change in Kai's behavior. This was the Kai he had always remembered. Tanner had really missed him, having Kai around now cheered him up from his worries.

"Really now? I guess we'll have to just prove otherwise soon, then." He waited a bit, then turned to respond to Andrea. "Yeah, I know he's a jackass." He smirked, then turned back to Kai. "Nice to meet you, Kai." He took Kai's hand and shook it. "I may be a merc like Pix, but you'll find we're not all... asses, like him. Mind what he tells you, though. He's quite a bit more experienced than I. After all, he was a Harlequin." He sighed as he thought about his past. "My father used to tell me stories about them."
