(( Far:: DD8 TOLD YOU THE TEMPLE WAS CREEPY!!! ))
Farlest, however, had seen Kenth all but freak out, which gave the doctor a dose of much-needed humanity in the boy's eyes. Following Alex's gaze, he peered at the temple for a long moment. "Yeah...we keep going in circles around that glowing place..." He murmured, "I don't think I much like it."
At the offer of something sweet, he plucked one out of her hands eagerly, a smile lighting up his nearly androgynous features. "Oh! Thank you!" It didn't take much to completely and utterly delight him. Sticking the end of the straw in his mouth, he turned his attention to Ka'hmesh for the moment.
Nodding at his question, Farlest was wondering the same thing. The boy hadn't put much thought into direction when he'd run off after Alex, and if she didn't know the way, they really were in the metaphorical pickle.
On top of that he had a feeling he couldn't shake, like something was going to happen, and it might not necessarily be good...a foreboding of sorts. It ran in his blood, or so he'd been told, the things that went beyond the tangible.

Alex smiled warmly at Ka'hmesh, nodding her head. "Just in case there's a fracture...I'd rather be safe than sorry." She gently took his hand, unwrapping the makeshift bandage that Farlest had made. "Hmm," she mused to herself as she put the sticks in place, "good idea with this, Farlest. I'll keep it." The cloth was thick without being too binding, so that Ka'hmesh's skin could breathe; that would be good in this situation. She reached back to her herb box and grabbed a small jar, carefully smearing the contents on the boy's wrist and forearm; it had a strong smell, although not unpleasant. "This is going to hurt. I apologize in advance." She winced a little as she glanced up to the blue-haired boy's face, starting to rewrap the wound with the thick jacket, but more tightly than Farlest had.
The woman was careful as she could be, making sure the sticks wouldn't shift; however, in doing so, the fabric was no longer close enough to tie off. And so, Alex did the most logical thing her mind could present to her; she gently lowered Ka'hmesh's hand, and ripped the lower portion of her ratty tank top off, enough to expose the bottom of her rib cage. She then ripped those pieces with ease, using the new bandages to tie the jacket firmly around the boy's wrist. "There!" she exclaimed, reaching forward to give Ka'hmesh a reassuring hug, "You did great! And to answer your question, yes, I know how to...to..." She trailed off a moment, feeling something cold and dark slither up her back; apparently, the 'something' she hadn't wanted to talk about had found them. "...get out," she finished quietly, her face very drawn as she leaned back.
The woman whirled around without warning, pressing her back against the boys, forcing them against the tree. She could feel something...something in the air that shifted and made it different somehow. As though to confirm her thoughts, the temple was glowing a strange red rather than the purple - as if purple wasn't strange enough. Alex uttered a quiet hiss, her hunting knife suddenly in her hand; she moved her arms behind her body, so that there was one on either side of the boys.
"That thing I didn't want to mention," she growled flatly, all traces of humor completely gone from the woman, "it's here." Her muscles sang with tension, ready to spring. "If I say run, you boys RUN, north of the temple and don't stop running until you're out." She didn't bother saying she'd catch up. If it was the shadow that had found them...well, it wasn't placid anymore, and she doubted she'd be leaving this place if it decided it had finished playing with her.

Ka winced almost as soon as Alex touched that wrist, but it wasn't too bad and he let eyes drift shut just a little, trying to keep breathing even, staying calm. He knew that she wouldn't hurt him any more than she had to. He couldn't help letting out a low hiss when she started wrapping though, the pressure hurting more than just her touching it to put the salve on.
It was over soon enough though ... and he opened eyes again, just in time to sort of awkwardly catch her as she hugged him. He was getting used to Far hugging all the time, but still ... wasn't used to that much physical contact.
Ka blinked then, watching her. "What's wrong..?" he asked, but almost as soon as the words were out of his mouth, Alex was moving, shoving the two of them back against that tree. Ka's gaze went to the temple then, and eyes widened a bit. The color changed ... oooh, that could not be good....

"Being alone doesn't bother me, it's being with people that does. I can handle being alone because....I'm handling myself. When I'm with others I have to handle myself and them."
It was true.
"And as for them, I don't think I'd want to be found or helped if I'd gone after and gotten lost. I don't know the first thing about being grateful so I wouldn't know what to say or do if I ever was found."
Also true.

The man flinched a little. Did the woman notice him or her? Whatever she had felt, he was amused at her hightened sense of danger...he didn't know that humans were still capable of using their sixth senses. Or perhaps it wasn't anything magicall, maybe it was just...a bad feeling.
He scanned around the area. She was near for sure. But her place was well hidden, and from the aura she had emitted, she had not noticed him. Good. He sighed. It wasn't his intention to oppose her, but he didn't want her to kill anymore people...at least not now. He had been watching the group arrive, and from what he had heard, this group seemed to be most influencial in the human world. He didn't want a bad reputation to smear his race...not anymore than it already had been.
What could he do now? If he did anything, the poor humans would no doubt flee, and they would fall right into her trap. He had to make an appearance before she did, and he had to protect these human beings, which he despised to the same degree as her, for now. Leaving a sigh, he intentionally moved himself a little, stirring his surroundings. If they found him out first, then perhaps they wouldn't run as fast...that was what he hoped.

She hated the feeling of her skin trying to crawl off her body, and that's exactly what was happening. Alex didn't know why she felt like she did, or what caused it, only that it had kept her alive this long and she had learned to react to it. There was something tangible in the air that was rubbing her the wrong way, the same way she had felt when she first saw the temple. Something...unnatural.
Her arms rippled into goosebumps as she thought she heard a sigh. She could feel her adrenaline on the verge of breaking over her, heightening her senses and dulling the ache in her leg. Gripping the hunting knife in her left hand, she started to move her right towards her cargos when something rustled very near by. Before she could even think of what to do, her instinct and reaction took over, snatching the pocket knife she had used to cut the splints and hurling it with precision towards the sound. It sunk into a tree near the bushes, indicating her desire to flush the intruder out without attacking blindly; despite her outward appearance, she didn't want anyone to get hurt, be it themselves or the natives.
"" she called out in Chinese. It was the only warning she'd give before she would be forced to move the boys to safety. Alex murmured to the two out of the corner of her mouth, "Get ready to move. When I say run, don't hesitate to do so."

Smart one, isn't she? The man stared at the woman's back that was bent like a scared cat. He didn't move, however, and continuted to observe the reactions from the humans. He could sense her backing off, ready to strike in case the woman came to her way, and he sincerely hoped that the human felt HIM instead of her.
So he stayed, wanting to see what the humans would do next. If they really found her out first, then he might have to......let them go.

Alex utter a frustrated growl. She loathed this place, and everything in it; she didn't want to play games with demented natives. Very quickly, but cautiously, she scooted her belongings closer to herself, packing them without looking at them, her eyes in constant movement. They had to move, and now. She could have stayed herself, but...she wouldn't let the boys get involved. Like the doctor had said so long ago, they had their futures ahead of them, and be damned if she was going to be the one to cut it short.
"Stay with me, but stay as low as you can." Her arms shifted around the boys, laying her right hand on Farlest's back, her left hand above Ka'hmesh's but without touching him; he had to be free to move with his injury, and she didn't really want to stab him with the knife that was still within her clutches. She ushered them in front of her, but bent over them, using her body as a shield as she used her hand on Farlest's back as a directional guide. "Remember, if something happens...just run, the way we're going now."
Inwardly, she apologized to her brothers, who at this moment she was fearing she'd never see again.

The man was annoyed, but he didn't sense any movements from her either. She was...really stubborn, wasn't she? In a way, he was relieved. As long as these humans didn't move, she would keep on waiting.
And so would he. Lowering level, the man laid down onto the groud quietly, eyes focusing on the human woman.

The woman gently urged the boys forward, casting a weary glance to where the knife still jutted from the tree. What she wanted to do was go over there and tear up everything on the land until she found what made the noise, but that would probably scare the boys half to death, and leaving them alone could very well be what the purpose of the distraction was.
And so, Alex guided them carefully towards the left side of the temple, being very careful not to get too close to the wretched thing.

The man's eyes widened. What, they are moving away from him! And what was worse, they are moveing TOWARDs her! He grinded his teeth. Do they didn't notice him after all...and that was the worst he was hoping for.
He quickly searched for her movement. It seemed that she was suprisingly still. The stillness, however, gave him an unpleasant feeling. She was...ready to attack, wasn't she? He had to do something...he had to draw the humans' attentions back to him.
With that thought he stood up, not caring to hide any noises. As soon as he stood, however, a strange growl (hardly audible to human ears) was heard, and that made the man flinch again. Was she...

Alex whirled back around as the bushes snapped suddenly, forcing the boys to stop. She could see a humanoid shape, but the lighting was still too dim for her to make out anything else. Unthinking, she moved the boys away from the direction they had been going, circling back around to the right, keeping them behind her. The knife in her hand cast an eerie red glow as they got close to the temple, glinting in her narrowed green eyes.
Stopping just a few trees down from where they had originally been, the woman motioned for the boys to stay low, her eyes not leaving the man. Either he hadn't understood Chinese or he was too far gone to care, and she wouldn't waste words on him; uncertain if he was alone or not, Alex stayed in front of the two males with her, legs bent and back arched, ready to tango at any wrong movement.

The growling stopped suddenly, and the man was relieved that the humans had stopped in their path. Seeing that he had finally gained their attention, the man could sense her scent hesitating, and eventually fading into the darkness.
Good, at least they are out of her grip.
In an extremely cautious measure, the man slowly advanced. The red light of the temple eventually shone on his being.
The man was tall, and well built. He wore a dark piece of cloak that overed most of his body. A hood allowed his face to be hidden in the shadows. At a glance he seemed to be unarmed, for his gloved hands were empty. The man raised his hand in a gesture of surrendering, hoping the humans would calm down at the gesture.
"Be at peace, travellers. I possess no harm to you."

Strange man, in the forest...wearing a full robe, covering every inch of visible skin...and he spoke English.
"Like hell you don't," she snarled, bristling. She didn't care that he was getting closer, as she was better at dealing damage that way. Alex saved her inner thoughts for the time being, as she didn't quite want to anger who or whatever this man was. Surely even he could see the absurd nature of his very being in this place. She remained as she was, the light from the temple shining off of her skin awkwardly; it was bringing out the scars on her torso. The slick skin shimmered like scales under the light, a quarter-sized round scar above her left hip and the tip of one visible at the edge of her ribs on the right side, although it disappeared into the remainder of her torn shirt.
Was he the cause of this disaster? Was he posing as a scientist and riling the natives? Was he something else all together? Alex didn't want to make assumptions, but it was hard not to let her mind go wild so close to the temple. It was making her violent again, and she wasn't too keen on the idea of not only fighting this man, but fighting herself for control.

"I understand fully that you don't trust me, lady. But it is the truth that I do not approach you with an intent to harm you. In fact, I have saved you from something horrible, something WITH the intention to kill."
The man shook his head. "You do not have to believe a word I say, lady. But I may be your only hope in getting out of this place. You see, this forest...is possessed. It only happened beginning from a month ago, when this temple started to act strange, as go the entire forest. It is rumored that there is a devil living within the temple, and it would kill anyone who dared to aproach it. Now, I don't know if this rumor is true, but from what I have observed, several people were killed already in here...So my point is, this place is not safe, lady. I know a route to get you out of the forest, if you are willing, I am more than happy to be your guide."
