That's good, Gion grinned again. Tell me - the land's flat now, the snow ... no more drifts, it's just all deep. Any ideas for a shelter?

Could build one out of snow but that would take a while... a makeshift tent out of blankets? Though I don't know how you'd manage that.... Hmm....
Daemon tried to remember the ways one could make themselves a shelter.

Build one out of snow? Gion repeated. How?

Snow is very packable.
Daemon replied.
You can take a whole keep of snow and pile it up... quickest way is to make a ball out of snow and start rolling it on the ground and it'll pick up other snow. It won't cover you but if you have a wall of large snowballs it'll at least keep the wind out if you plug up the holes with more snow.

Gion raised one eyebrow doubtfully. That would be a lot of work ... and take a lot of time, he replied hesitantly. Is there an easier way?

If there are large branches you could make a kind of sloping shetler but makeing it into a kind of wall and having other sticks to prop it up, with the snow it wouldn't be hard to dig it in.
Daemon ventured remember Yume telling him about that.

Make bricks, Serenity suggested, her tail wrapped around the handle of the sword, her paw on Gion's ear. Snow bricks. Stack them ... they'll fit together better. Put them on a bit of an angle and they'll make a dome. Safe, warm, wind proof once you seal the cracks ...

Gion blinked. Bricks ... I could use the sword to cut the snow, he mused. It's solid, but not ice ... that might work ... can you direct me, Mother? Tell me where to put the blocks and stuff? How to put them? How to cut them?

An igloo... didn't think of that.
Daemon replied thoughtfully.

Serenity blinked. Igloo? Well ... whatever you want to call it. Yes, Gion - I can help you. But I'm not changing shape until we're safely inside and hidden from view. Just start cutting blocks, as big as you can lift, but not too thick. Just a few inches. Cut them in the same area, in a circle shape, and then put them up in a ring, leave a space for a door ...

Gion nodded and unsheathed the sword. He started cutting blocks, setting them aside, until he had a small circle dug. Then he started setting up the blocks, careful to keep them upright.

I've only read about it.
Daemon replied back to Serenity.
Never built one. Though the children did build snowforts during the winter.

Gion related the message to Serenity, since she wasn't touching the sword any more and wouldn't be able to hear it, and continued to work.

Ah, I see, Serenity replied. By the way, you're doing a fine job, she added. Just lean the ones on top in a bit to make it go into a dome shape as you go.

Gion nodded and continued to build.
Kind of hard work, he thought to no one in particular after a while. Sweating now ...
On the other hand, the shelter was coming along nicely. Or so he thought.
