Lt. Brookman
Either they'll be kicked out or brought up to the same level as Guard storm troopers. Highly unlikely though seeing as they cost 16 points a pop which is the same cost as a melon-fething Astartes.
On the other hand, those new hellguns rip the hell out of melon-fething Astartes, too. wink

But so do Grey Knights. Including that many expensive troops, though, would certainly keep the GK feel of "Hoshit Elite."

Sorry, but you are slightly missing the point. You can either pay 16 points for a T3 model with a S3 weapon or you can pay 25 points for a T4 WS5 model with power armour and a power weapon plus psychic powers.

I foresee the future Inquisition codex removing storm troopers as an option.

edit.

Bad example. sweatdrop

The thing is storm troopers aren't worth 16 points when put in a list other than the Imperial Guard, not when better choices are around for the same price or a bit more. GK's will go down in price most likely, making ST's even more of a sink in points. AP3 is a nice touch but at 18" and paired with S3 they really are a point sink. A massive one at that. GK's on the other hand have a healthy 3+ armour save, a storm bolter, power / force weapon and true grit. 16 points for a T3 model? Or 9 points more for a model in power armour, with stats that are +1 to almost all categories and much better wargear. Remember, Inquisition storm troopers are not like their Guard counter-parts, so they will lack the special operations rule.

I was on to something here but I'm rambling now for some reason..

Aren't the majority of Imp Stormies the Inquisitorial Stormies that have failed their purity tests?
And Mac, I assume you mean NFW? The normal Gk's only have the Str6 CCW.
The Justicars have the Power weaps, and brother captains, then the GM's have the Force Weapon.

As far as I know Inquisitorial storm troopers are very different from regular storm troopers. Somewhere along the line IST's are taken in by the Inquisition for special training while regular ST's remain with the Schola Progenium. I'm hoping that Dark Heresy Ascension gives a bigger view into the recruitment of IST's.

As for the GK's, thanks for clearing that up, it's been a while since I've seriously read through the DH codex. sweatdrop

The old termies all used to have force weapons...

Well, maybe Imperial Armour seven will have a preview of what the future of the Grey Knights might entail.

Are Daemon Hunters normally highlighted in Imperial Armor, or did they note ahead of time that this edition might?

Imperial Armour will touch on all things cranked out by FW. Seeing as the Vraks is finishing off with book three it was probably written in such a way that the GK's would be the big Imperial faction spotlight item facing off against new daemonic engines and a Renegade army list based on Nurgle worship.

They might give a preview of what the Inquisition codex of 2011/2012 might entail. Just look at the IA 2 errata that was released around Autumn last year. It had a preview of the new Chimera cost and upgrades. So adding things together this IA book may have a preview of GK vehicles to come to the codex or it may just be a poor FW attempt at writing rules again.

I've pre-ordered the book so we'll find out around the end of August I guess.

Imperial Armour Volume Seven - The Siege of Vraks Part Three (quite a mouthful!) will have rules for the following units: Grey Knights, Grey Knight Terminators and the Land Raider Redeemer with psy-cannons and incinerators.

There's also a new marine chapter, the Red Hunters and a Krieg armoured company list. Chaos seems to be getting the most toys, with stuff like the Jibberjaw, Gorefeaster and Uraka Az'baramael. I've got NO idea who or what those might be though.. sweatdrop

As to the latter, it sounds like the names of oddball Daemons to me. At least the first two.

Jibberjaw and Gorefeaster are rare daemonic engines IIRC, don't quote me on it though.

Too late. whee

There are a lot of named daemon characters in the book though.

Five daemonic and fallen Astartes special characters are in it.

Impressive. I take it that all of the new Daemon models that Forgeworld has been pushing through would make up their ranks?

Back on topic: Grey Knight Allies. What do you guys include in your "primary" force when you include GK allies?
