Down to two spiders and he'd be on to the next grand adventure, which was apparently going to be something new: a crafting session. With the new updates to the crafting system, he had his work cut out for him to really power up his equipment, but he was also much more easily able to get a foot in on the crafting. Before, it had been prohibitively difficult to get into monster part crafting, and since Alyx' chosen gear was all dropped from monsters, from what he understood, they would not gain as large a benefit from being combined with Rota's weapons. So he would begin experimenting with all of that. Rota sat outside his mine, the Sphere clutched in his hands. So many thoughts ran through his head as he sat and just fiddled with it. The cogs and bits whirred as he moved it in every combination possible, even cranking the thing that popped out the other side. His mind always went back to that note and he kept loking at it compulsively. His fairy and the newly Silvered Little One were near him as he just mulled this over. He felt like he was going to turn into a skeleton like the previous owner had as he turned and pivoted the wondrous object. Rota decided enough was enough. It was time for some sort of action. He handed the Sphere to Little One, just to see if it ilicited any sort of response. It was a gamble of sorts, but he couldn't think of anything immediately to try otherwise.

Little One takes the sphere, turning it over in its hands. The golem shakes the orb and listens to it. Finally, the golem opens his mouth and bites the sphere.
Nothing happens.
Seeing nothing that it can break, chew or harvest, it shrugs and hands the sphere back to you.

Rota returned to his mine, feeling exceedingly disappointed in himself. It took a little bit of time, but he made it back to the cavern. He saw the cave-in wall immediately and shook his head in self loathing. His gait was filled with purpose as he walked forward and began putting pick to rockslide. Recovering a cave in was risky business, but at this point he was dead set on any form of redemption.

As you begin to chip away at the wall, you gain a little ground into the cave-in. You find a broken lantern, with a cracked crystal inside it, still dimly glowing after all this time.
Received: broken lantern
You find evidence that a tunnel had been present before the cave-in, but as you move forward, the stone around you shifts unsettlingly.
To progress, you must successfully roll 5 mining posts, none of which can be below 100. A single failure will cause the tunnel to re-collapse, and require you to start again, but the DC for each roll will be reduced by 1 from the most recent DC for each successful post you made before the cave-in. The DC will not go up. Each cave-in will improve your odds in this manner.

As Rota dug through, he found a broken lantern. This used to really be something. With that rubble shifting though, he would have to act precisely and fast to keep making real progress. A lot was riding on this, and he didn't know how many chances he was going to have at this. He made every strike count, no matter how long it took.

Rota failed to make any significant progress in the wall, but that was to be expected. As was the norm, the first strike was never the most lucrative. He tried again, putting more vigor into the swing. He was not burned out after that hours long mining expedition, and this wall would not beat him after all he had been through.

Rota was finally making a dent like before. The cave in had just been compressed for a long time. It was a lot of static friction to try and interrupt all at once. no matter. Physics was the Demon Warrior's b***h and he would prove it. His pick continued to chip away the wall little by little as he tried to make his way through.

The gap deepened as Rota continued to make his way through. He needed to stay humble, the wall could give again at any given moment. He stayed focused, putting all of his energy on getting through this blockade. All he needed to do was concentrate and he would be in a good place to keep on keepin' on.

No sooner had the thought entered Rota's head than the wall had collapsed again and erased all his work. Thankfully he had cleared away what he had dug in, so it would be easier to get back to that point, but it was still a hard pill to swallow. There was nothing for it, so he continued to dig his happy a** through the rubble. He'd make it through eventually.

Back to making some form of progress, Rota was wondering exactly what he was going to find. Whatever was behind here was important enough that someone was fine dying to keep it there. He had no way of knowing what could be behind here, but he needed to know, and was GOING to know.

Rota was back to where he was before the last cave-in. Now all he had to do was maintain this momentum and he would be cooking with gas. His pick his the ever shifting stones with the customary rhythm associated with the task. Was it going to be related to the golems? couldn't be since Little One didn;t recognize anything about it. Of course, it could be well above his pay grade, so to speak, but no telling.

Aaaaand cave in. This was beginning to border on ridiculous. Rota shook his head and kept digging, hoping that this time would be the perfect run through that he was beginning to feel like he needed. Regardless if that was true or not, he needed to at least try something. So he pressed on, hoping that this would be the one.
