Magz's first instinct on a drop in temperature was to focus her flames inward, and for a few seconds, that's what she tried to do, but then she realized the Minos could freeze if it got too cold. Before her transformation, she had always been a fan of cold and snow, but now she hated it with a passion, which she began to channel into her flames.
She started by spitting fireballs at this newcomer, knowing full well that she was not a friendly. With each ball of flames she spat, more and more of it coalesced around her until she began to glow again, eventually returning to her previous form, flames now covering her body and extending further than before to make every effort to fight back the cold.
She really hated the cold.

((I'll RP Alex since he's Corel's partner later in the story. I can volunteer to RP Ratchet and Olivia as well if you like. My posts may be slower as I may take longer to include information for each character but it's not impossible...unless someone else has their heart set on RPing either of those two?))

Helena, intrigued, took the tiny fairy in her hands and placed her upon her shoulder, right next to her inquisitive snakes. "Sorry about this, Olivia, it seems you're getting handed around a lot today. I hope my snakes don't bother you", the woman apologised. She lightly tapped one of her snakes on the nose with the tip of an index finger, just enough that it stopped licking Olivia's arm and moved away. "No tasting, my dears-ss"

Looking back at Estelle, she smiled. "Really?! Thank you, I'll be sure to pay for it as soon as I can get to my handbag" she chuckled, "My account is a bit...frozen, at the moment. Actually, I can't remember if I left it in my room, but if I have, there's no way I can get it till later". And her phone was in her bag as well. Rats.

While she waited for the dwarf to complete crafting her a weapon to use, Helena felt a sudden wind sweep into the room, brushing her hair across her eyes. She shook the long strands out of the way and as soon as her vision had cleared, noticed movement near the floor and felt something bump into her tail. She looked down at an odd yet adorable warbling noise and gasped.

"Ooh! How did you get in here?!" She felt her heart melt at the sight of such cuteness, watching with a gleam in her eyes as Michael picked up the tiny creature to give to the young lady on the ground. Tasting the air, her serpent's tongues relayed an odd piece of information back to her brain. That really was Silvia's scent wasn't it? Helena was confused. But the coloration of this kit matched Silvia perfectly too.

"S...Ssilvia..." The gorgon had started to say something when she turned and saw Estelle holding out a rather pretty looking spear and talking to her.

"Ah, now this is something I'm familiar with! Thank you dear girl, it is a beautiful piece of craft. I must say, it fits me to the tee" she thanked Estelle, her smile widening as she reverently took the weapon from the dwarf's hands, showing her fangs.

About that time, a mobile ringtone started to echo through the observation area, playing a sound of chirping birds. Uh-oh, that wasn't good. It might attract monsters! "Huh? Who left their phone in here? Wait, that sounds like my phone!"

Helena slithered around until she found indeed, her handbag! It had been left on one of the tables in here the night she had curry and she must have forgotten to bring it with her. Oops. Well, she'd been falling asleep on her feet..er, tail! A frantic rustle through its contents and she snatched out a phone and clicked a button, wondering who this could be "Hello?...Isaac?" Out in the corridor, a monster sounded like it was coming towards this room.

***

Alex twitched slightly when something pawed at his trousers, hands still holding his messy bangs out of his eyes from the breeze that had come out of nowhere. He'd been trying to think of a way to help out as per Finita's and Silvia's orders but he didn't want to just leave Corel here on her own. She seemed to be having some sort of meltdown.

"Hm?" He saw Michael, another scientist that worked here, scoop up the fluffy and silver thing and he watched as it was held out to Corel.

***

Corel's face was a sight to see as her chin was lifted. Tears streamed down her cheeks and her eyes were red and puffy, her face was pink and blotchy and she seemed to need a tissue or two. Gasping and sniffling, she uttered a soft whimper as she was addressed. Oh great, now everyone was going to see her like this. But before a fresh wave of woe could wash over her, her attention was redirected onto something else. Something that was silky and fluffy and the embodiment of soft toys and animals which made her heart melt. "S-She...look after her? Me?" Corel was still asking the question even as she unwrapped her hands from around her knees, shakily reaching out to take the ball of fuzz and cradle it to her. The girl sniffled, and a tiny smiile twitched across her face as she petted the kit.

"I...I can...be brave...for that" she stuttered, softly. She could feel her heartbeat start to slow again, her breathing become more even.

It was almost amazing how fast the change came over her and she was able to begin calming down. Corel was a huge pushover for cute things and animals...they were one of her greatest weaknesses. She nodded, wiping her eyes on her sleeve as she continued holding the fox kit, and slowly stood up, her voice, though quavering, sounding a notch more confident and less fearful. "I...I can do that" Suddenly the monsters and noises echoing all around the building didn't seem quite as close.

***

Alex sighed and smiled at Corel, wow, that had been fast. He was kind of surprised something like that was all it took to make her calm down again. "See, not everything here is bad and scary. It's gonna be okay. Just stick with us if you're scared. You don't have to do anything you can't handle right now".

Phantoms Request

The flames landed and exploded around the beautiful pale woman, and she shrieked. It was like the icy shriek of the howling winds of an icy blizzard. Her body started to seem and sizzle, fading away into a swirling mist as she literally boiled away into nothingness...

It was around that time that Finita finished off her Giant opponent by beating his face into the wall. Blood was dripping down her horns and the giant had two very large puncture wounds in his ribs.

Getting up she looked around and saw Magz (who was pissed) and a section of the floor was on fire, as well as a steamy mist filing the room. Picking up the body she tossed it on the floor where the fire was. The giant was large enough that it's corpse smothered it before the fire spread too far.

Holding up a finger at the Phoenix, she approached the open vault, and peered inside.

...

She reached in, reaching for something. It turned out to be a plain but worn old square wooden loom, threaded many times by threads. There were several spools, dyed several colors attached to it. Dangling the other side was a large bag.

She then grabbed the vault handle and pulled it shut.

Magz... I don't think Silvia is in there... Let's get back to the others. We're going to need everyone's help to take on that horde of monsters...

The Bull of Minos woman turned and started ushering the Pheonix away from the vault door.... There were loud and strange roars to be heard coming from the vault, coming from many different throats...

I looked up at Helena and winked at her as Micheal handed my tiny fluffy form to the timid girl Corel.

I looked at Corel and made that adorable warbling noise again, before playfully licking happily at her face. Making a contented noise, I nuzzled her hands with my little muzzle. I think I like being adorable... I thought as I looked up at her cutely...

~~~
As soon as Micheal's eyes were off the tiny fox kit, he found something wrapped around his wrist. It looked like a pendent of a dancing woman...
~~~

Estelle heard the sound of roaring and a monster approaching this part of the lab... she got a very crazy grin on her face as her hair curled and coiled like a bunch of snakes.

Taking her maul off her back she approached the door as the sound of the creature got ever closer...

It was a strange, hissing howl, and it was coming ever closer....

Then the Dwarf woman burst out the door, bellowing.
TODAY IS AH GEWD DEY FER SOOMONE ELSE TAE DIE!!!!

The sound of howling and stone hitting flesh was clearly evident...

Corel smiled at the fox kit, scratching behind one of her ears gently and rubbing tiny circles. There was so much fluff, it was almost like she was holding a cloud. She looked at the emerald eyes admiringly. "So pretty, I've never seen a fox like this one before" She looked at Alex, curiously. "Is she a pet of someone here? So, do you breed coloured foxes here?" she looked a little bit eager, wondering who the cub belonged to.

***

Gently petting Silvia's head a moment, Alex could feel himself blush a little at how cute Corel looked right now and how adorable Silvia was. He felt grateful to their resident kitsune and also kind of smitten with how adorable she was in this form. There was only one fox that he knew of and this had to be Silvia. He chuckled before rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. How to explain? "Er...well, Silvia is very unique. She's not exactly a pet. She does live at the labs though. Seems she took a liking to you"

Seeing movement out of the corner of his eye, he turned away from Corel for a minute to look at Michael, catching a glint of something on his arm. Alex stepped closer for a better look. He didn't remember seeing that there before. "Where did that bracelet come from? I don't recall you having a bracelet before Michael?" He tilted his head curiously, frowning slightly. Weird why did Michael have a pendant of a dancing lady? "Uh...are you into gypsies now or something?" He wasn't really being serious with that question, just wanting to know where it came from. Something told him it was odd.

***

Helena gave the fox kit a tiny wave, with a clink of her jewellery, her tongue poking out playfully as she answered her phone. Of all the worst times for someone to ring. Her fiance was on the line and he was asking questions. She would have to be careful how she answered.

So, what sort of project is it that you signed up for, lovely? I take it you've participated by now? Was it testing new make up products like we thought?

"Ah, ss..ahem...n-not exactly. You know, I told you not to call me for a couple of days. The testing is pretty full on"

"Ah, so it is to trial something then. What are you testing? Is it hard?"

Helena shifted uncomfortably, opening her mouth to respond carefully, "Well, it'ss sort of like an ancient history thing. They found some ancient artifacts and we're sort of testing how they work in...modern times" she smoothed glibly, hoping he bought it. She hated having to keep secrets from him but there's no way he'd believe her if she told the truth and she already signed the contract that made her swear to keep it top secret.

Just then the sounds of awful howls mixed with hissing entered the room and then Estelle was shouting at the top of her lungs. Helena jolted, nearly dropping the phone as a screech slipped out. "Argh...sorry about that, that's just-"

"What?! What was that? What in the world is going on there? Is it some kind of reenactment?" His voice was raised in concern and he sounded worried, "Are you okay?"

A little unnerved, Helena fumbled with her phone, looking around to try and see where the monster was and what was happening. "I'm perfectly fine. Ah, honey, this really isn't a good time. See what I mean? Full on! I gotta go...sss!...Sssee you later!'

What - wait-! *click* Helena hurriedly hung up her phone, moving rapidly over to where the action was going on.

***

Corel screamed at the sudden animalistic noises coming from just outside the room but moreso at the yelling from that stone looking woman. If Corel didn't know better, she'd say that was a dwarf. No way was she getting close enough for a better view. She decided to stay around the humans, which at this point were Alex and Michael. She didn't go to pieces this time, but she did hug the fox kit to her protectively, stepping closer to the men. Looking at the fox kit in her arms, she petted it, not really noticing that it seemed to have too many tails for a regular fox. "D-do-don't worry, it can't come in here" she squeaked. Whether she was saying it for herself or the fox's benefit was questionable.

I made my adorable sound again and nuzzled her chest, my little ears tickling her chin. I curled up in her hands, and I felt her jump at the sound of the monster outside. I started to lick her chin as she pet me reassuringly, before squeezing my eyes cutely.

~~~
As Helena slithered out into the hall, she found herself looking at Estelle... who was bashing the skull in of what once had been a wolf like creature with her maul. It was long and skinny with spines down it's back and a wolf like head and extended claws.
It had been limping badly, as she had apparently taken out one of the thing's hind legs with her maul (easily). It howled again as she raised her maul and smashed it upside the head. It's skull was crushed neatly, before the creature started to dissolve into black goo...
Comoon? Is tha' all ye goot? She said, putting her maul down head first and leaning against the handle.
She then saw a bunch of goblins... hideous things, with wrinkled ugly faces and long wrinkly noses with green skin... they were only a hair taller then Estelle herself, with thin, wiry, bony bodies. They were all wearing MASSIVE rat pelts...like capes... and they were coming for Estelle and Helena... They were making strange, high pitched and very poor imitation rat squeaks...
Rachet came to an abrupt stop and back peddled really fast. He was hoping to check up to Finita without trouble, but he could see there was no way he could keep up with the Minos. But that wasn't his concern anymore.
Right now he had a big huge.... thing coming at him.
A chimera. Those are nasty. Be careful. said the voice in his head, very calm as if this wasn't terrifying.
"W-who are you?!" he asked the voice again, out loud thing time. His voice was shaking.
You should focus on the creature. the voice pointed out.
How could he not focus on the creature! It was right there. Maybe he could outrun it? He had no way of fighting it off and no weapon. He continued to back away from the monster.
~~~~~

Micheal smiled as Corel took the kit. It was good to see that she was able to stand strong, even if it was for a small thing like this. He had a sneaky suspicion about the fox and who it might be....
He stood and felt something settle around his wrist. He jumped at first, a little startled by the unexpected feeling. He looked down at a bracelet now around his wrist, a carved woman hanging from it. He pulled at the thing, but it didn't seem to want to come off his wrist. Then he turned his gaze to the fox kit, frowning. Some part of him sure she had a lot to do with this. Sneaky fox.
"I don't think I like this." he murmured.
Then the sounds of Estelle and Helena heading outside and the sound of battle took his attention. Then Corel's scream made him jump out of his skin again. He was already on edge. Now he was jumpy. What else was going to happen? He glanced at the pendant one more time.
"I don't have time for this." he whispered. "God help us." The little prayer for help made him feel better. And he was sure they would need all the help they could get.
He turned to follow the gorgon and the dwarf. "We need to get the other scientists if the monster haven't. Do you think we...." he trailed off at the sight of the goblins outside. "Oh no."

~~~~~
Meanwhile, Shikoba had enough of meditating. She had sat there and thought about nothing and breathed. But there was so many things going on and she felt absolutely useless.
If this were something normal like a fire or a pipe broke, fine. She could get out with everybody and then watch the building burn with everyone or let a room flood. Fine.
However, she could not just sit here while there were monsters rampaging and possible deaths happening. She was itching to, at least, defend this place in some way. So she stood up and looked again for something blunt to use.
Screw the meditation. She would rather focus on protecting those in here.
~~~~~

Cecelia room was anything by quiet. Under the surface, she had taken it to heart to discipline herself in the use of her powers. It was easy to make people feel good or sad or joyous, or even break something to pieces. It was another to effect one. And only one.
She screeched again. She was using the stone shark chunks as test subjects. So far, she was just turning huge chunks to big chunks. So far she wasn't sure if she was making any progress. Other than screeching on command. It took her about 30 seconds to get angry enough to do it again. She tried it without emotion too. It took her 10 minutes to figure out her power didn't work at all without it. A good thing to keep in mind. She supposed it made sense. Mostly.
She focused on the rock, pulling her anger at the thing and herself until it was a pulsing feeling in her throat. The rock was her target, and just the rock. She focus as hard as she could and let out another ringing scream....

Lady Aryana of the Seelie

Thanks to Ratchet's hurried backpedaling, he managed to get just out of range of the monster's leap. The creature clearly didn't function as well as it could have, and as it fell short of it's target it lost it's balance, it's two front faces face planting into the floor. While the sight might have been amusing, the serpent tail was still whipping about, and rising to strike at him...

~~~
Estelle heaved her Maul off the ground and charged towards the strangely squeaking goblins with another dwarf battlecry, this time in a rough, guttural and deep language that no one could identify.
She waded right into the thick of things, smashing heads and crushing ribs. Her maul left large dents in the goblins and they pretty much died with each hit. Soon she had pummled the entire group, and she still had a very crazy smile on her face and look in her eye.
Looking about she noticed Micheal, and slinging the maul over her shoulder she wandered over to him, still covered in goblin blood.
An what are yew so worrehed aboot?
~~~

Shikoba saw very few things that could be considered weapons. There were some pieces of leftover stone, some broken glass in a pile over in a corner, a table, and quite a few chairs scattered about the room.

~~~
As Cecelia screeched this time, with her intense focus, she could see something... a small ripple in the water emitted from her throat, distorting the water infront of her as it headed toward the rock. It hit the one rock and shattered it into a number of small shards...
Ratchet didn't really have time to think. He knew that he needed to keep that thing away from him, no matter what. So he reacted fast, without a chance to think about what he was doing.
He raise his hands and time seemed to slow. He felt like he was in one of his dreams again. As he pushed him hands forward, he called up a breeze. He could feel the power stir in him and then suddenly wind rushed from him, to the creature.
Ratchet stood frozen for a moment. "HOW DID I DO THAT?" He was shocked to say the least.
~~~~~

Micheal look a moment to recover from the sight of the goblins and the dwarf swatting them like flies with a giant hammer.
"I-I'm worried about my co-workers. They can't be faring well." he replied quickly. "I'm afraid there might not be much time."

~~~~~
Shikoba looked around and thought fast. There were some sharp looking pieces of stone. They would hold up better than glass. But they would still cut her as well, if she wasn't careful. After a few moments, she had an idea. It would be a crude weapon, but it would work.
She wondered if the dwarf would be horrified or impressed.
Shikoba grabbed a chair and smashed it against the floor. Unlike the movies, braking a chair took more effort then you would think. She probably looked silly banging it against the floor over and over, but it helped loosen the metal bar holding the legs in place, which she quickly pulled off. They she used the glass to start a tear in her shirt. She pulled a long strip tearing the hem a few times around. She took two pieces of similar sized, sharp rocks and began to tie them to the bar. It was very crude, but it would do. Or she hoped it would. She had to really work to make sure that they didn't slide along the smooth surface.
~~~~~

Cecelia stopped, drained but very satisfied. There had been a shimmer, like a mirage in the water that time. And she had done it! She looked on her work and sang for a moment, to show her pride.
After a moment of gloating, she got back to work. She knew she could do it now. Now she just had to repeat it.

The wind howled behind and past him as it hit the Chimera like a hammer. The snake was caught up in the wind as the creature started to try and right itself. It was like a full on gale was blowing at the chimera... it held onto the floor with it's claws, leaving claw marks in the floor, before it lost it's grip and was blown away...

Down the hall, other creatures got caught up in the sudden gust of wind as well. He could hear the cries, roars, and screeches as various creatures ended up getting plastered to the wall at the end of the hall...

~~~
Ye have oone o' those remote talking earpi... earplug...ermine... Eh... comminucation thingies. Why denne ye use et? Asked the dwarf woman, confused. Shaking her brozne colored locks, she then noticed the pendent wrapped around Micheal's wrist. Her gaze hardened as she stared at it hard.
The runes on tha' say... "Tail tae legs." Yew have legs. Why dae ye have et? Woulln't tha' be moore fittin' on Helena or Cecelia?
~~~

Shikoba found that she had made very very crude hammer. It would be good for making sure no enemies got in here, at least...

Ratchet panted looking on in stunned silence. By the screeches and sounds, it was best that he didn't go to the vault. Finita made it clear she could handle herself. He turned and headed back for the Observation room.
Ratchet was shaken. How had he done that? He... He had used magic?! Like in his dream? Why was it appearing now? Not sooner? He was very confused and slightly terrified.
He made his way back, his mind spinning.

~~~~~
Micheal was immediately angry at the question. Of course he had! There were scientists through here all the way to the bedrooms. But there were monsters in between. They could get through.
That wasn't Estelle's fault. She was just asking an honest question. He took a deep breath. This all was making him feel like being very short. He was careful not to be.
"I am. But I can only talk to them. They've founds some placed to hide, but getting from out there to here is nearly impossible." he paused and he got something. "Oh, good. Someone found the emergency axe."
He paused at her remark. He looked at the pendant again. Then he grinned at what this meant. "Estelle. Helena. Can't you take me through the halls, to get the other worker and then to Cecelia's room. I think she could help a lot."
He found a small group of people outside the observation room, Estelle with a new stone maul, Helena with a tall stone and glass spear, and Micheal. There was some dead goblins that looked like they had been brutalized by a meat tenderizer.
Estelle rubbed her chin.
Michael had departed to see to the monsters in the hallway, reminding Alex that he should probably be out there helping. There were still scientists and other staff trapped or in danger beyond the observation room.
He looked back at Corel, seeing that the timid girl had calmed down immensely as the fox worked its magic. A small smile glanced over his features and he found himself shaking his head at her. Well, whatever worked.
Restless just waiting around, he glanced back at the stone sword that Estelle had made for him and felt he ought to at least thank the woman for her kindness in making him the weapon. Not that knew how to use it. You just grabbed it and swung it at things though, right? Not like a sword was highly technical.
Alex stepped over to the greatsword and after several attempts, tugged it out of the floor. Holding it aloft, he admired the stone weapon, tilting it this way and that, marveling that the stone used to craft it hadn't split or cracked. And as he did so, he got a strange sensation. Hefting the sword in his hands suddenly felt right, natural, like he'd done so all his life. He was astonished at how easy it felt to hold such a weapon, feel its weight on his arms. Did everyone feel like that the first time they picked one up? Knowledge, or perhaps ideas, of how to use the greatsword flooded in and bounced around his brain, accompanied by a sure confidence that stemmed from he knew not where. "I know how to use this thing" he muttered, slightly incredulous, lowering it to look back at Corel. Gently, he placed a hand on her shoulder to get her attention, interrupting her from playing with the fox kit. "Hey, I'm sorry but I have to go and help out there now. If you stay here, you should be safe enough. Will you be okay if I go?"
***
Corel giggled at the sandpaper licks she received, trying to move out of the way while not really minding them. The ball of warmth in her arms helped her keep under control even as the other girl that she'd arrived with nosily disgraced a chair to turn it into a makeshift weapon. Corel had moved as far away from Shikoba's destructive display as she could without getting near any of the doors that led into the room. She knew what lurked beyond.
She looked up at a hand on her shoulder and frowned when she heard what Alex had to say. The only person that wasn't one of THEM....and he was going to leave her here.. A surge of worry skittered through her when she realised she'd be left alone but she quickly bit her lip, brows furrowed in determination not to panic as she nodded dutifully at him. She had to stay here to protect the fox from whatever monsters were lurking just outside, though she dearly wanted someone around to protect her as well. Still she knew that was wrong..."I'm okay" the girl lied. Far be it from her to stop him doing what needed done. She watched him turn and head for the door to the corridors.
Trembling slightly, Corel looked at the remaining chairs and table and had an idea. Jogging over to the table, Corel took one hand off the fox kit to clamber underneath it, pulling the remaining chairs in around her and Silvia to make a sort of hideout. She kissed the fox between her ears, setting her in her lap.
"We'll hide here, okay?" Less chance of a monster or those weird humanoid beasts, the ones she called 'them', spotting her. She shuddered at the memory of those she'd already seen; a giant bull like woman and a creepy looking snake woman, with snakes in her hair, carrying a fairy. Sure she loved fairytales as much as the next person, just not this particular scenario.
***
Helena had been curious to try out her new spear but sadly, she didn't get much of a chance to. Estelle was on the odd pack of goblins like smell on a dog, and that was after she'd smashed the skinny wolf monster to a pancake.
"Sssomething wasn't quite right with those goblins-ss" Helena commented once the odd rat-pretenders had been squashed, scratching her head. She was no expert on goblins but that had been weird, even for those creatures. Those rat pelts they were wearing had been way too huge for normal rats either.
Turning to Michael, she nodded at his request. "Sss, I'd be happy to provide an esscort. I know where Cecelia'ss room is from here!" but then she heard Estelle's comment and frowned. "You wish me to stay here? All right. If you think I would be of most use here... I'll ssee what I can do to reinforce our defenses-ss" Though the woman sounded somewhat disappointed at not being able to try out her new spear.
Olivia had been fairly quiet this whole time. She had been feeling unwell the past several hours and the situation around her had been getting to her more than usual, so she stayed on the gorgon's shoulder and observed instead. But now she spoke up again, tugging lightly on the gorgon's hair to get her attention. "Hellie, Hellie! I'll go with you. I can think of a few ways to reinforce the observation room with my powers" she declared, standing up and stretching her hands in front of her. "I'm ready, just say the word!" She knew that her vines could come in useful for blocking off the doorways or tangling up intruders at the very least.
Alex stepped out into the hallway, greatsword in hand, just in time to hear the conversation between Estelle and Michael about getting to Cecelia's room. "I'll come with you two. I might be able to help with this" he indicated the sword with a nod. "No thanks to Estelle: thanks again for making this" he smiled, "I promise I'll pay gold for future commissions"
