The Rani

The Rani's TARDIS arrived in a gust of wind and ionic energy and materialized in the middle of a shabby camp. A small crowd of about twenty Movellans approached the ship led by the Commander. The double doors burst open and the Rani appeared donning her gauntlet, tool kit and blasters. The delagation bowed as a form of greeting while Commander Sharrel approached.

"Commander," she nodded.

"Your Great Work is ready oh Exalted One," he murmured.

"Take me to it."

Several malfunctioning Movellans stared at the Rani with haunted eyes as their leaders her past their crude shelters into a spotlessly clean dome that towered over the entire settlement.

"I don't like this muck so close to my dome," the Rani stated as she cast a glance to one side.

"Malfunctioning units are cast outside of the dome, as you requested, Mistress Rani," the commander replied, "they build these shelters to protect against the elements."

"I don't care, demolish them at once, I'll not have them compromising the habitat of the native fauna."

The Commander hesitated and paused in mid-stride. In the end he pressed his lips together and relented. "Yes, as you wish."

Inside the dome was a labyrinth of laboratories and storage rooms where deteriorated but still functioning Movellans examined line after line of data nonstop. In the center of the dome was a glass containment tank where a large dark figure brooded. The Rani rechecked her data and after a few minutes she glaced up satisfied. She smiled brightly as she approached the containment tank and pressed her hand against the cold surface. The monster within roared and slashed at her with all six of its arms.

"Oh aren't you just lovely..." she cooed and turned to glance at Commander Sharrel, "Congratulations Commander, it's a boy... a healthy 800 pound boy, your work is finished. Ooh! I could just hug him to bits!"

"I... thank you... Great One," the Commander and his peers seemed confused, "If we may ask...What is it?"

"Isn't it obvious?" she asked with a dark sparkle in her green eyes, "In a very literal sense, it's a Neverwere... A creature completely separate from the space time continuum. Ah but it's a very special little Neverwhere... the chemicals I had you administer were taken from the Nightmare Child..."

The monster roared and clawed at the glass feebly.

"I think I'll call him Tanze," she chuckled tilting her head. "TARDIS, prepare the stasis chamber, I want him operational in twelve hours."



"Great One, what about us," the Commander spoke up.

"You have done well, gather your people and begin dismantling the dome, you will all return to the TARDIS and await further instructions."

Commander Sharrel did not seem overly pleased at the orders but nodded his head. "We obey."

"Zarios ... explains how come none of the Time Lords knew what species you were Kea ... usualy when a species goes extinct they wipe the memory bank of the species and dont teach it in the classes ... bit foolish if you ask me considering that we can travel through time ... i kept telling them that it was just-" he said as he hesited "anyway ... does anyone else get the feeling that the Rani is up to something thats going to go ... well, bad?"

"its the fact that its the Rani, like i said if it were a contest between me and her who was the most sinister and dangerous ... it'd be her ... whatever her experements are ... it cant be anything benificial to anyone but her alone" he said in a moan

As she thought to herself she made a concern look as she ask, "So does that mean we're going after her or try and look for her and find out what she's doing?" In some experiance that Norma knew back at home or here on Earth that if someone was talking to a commander then there was something that was not far behind it.

"Well do you know how to track her like you tracked the Master? Or is it by random pick of luck?" She didn't know why she was so worried about what was going to come but she was ready to leave this planet if it was come to it.
