Shinji's Class - Lesson One: Earth and Dust Clones

Walking into the training grounds with his scroll case, Shinji's smile grew as he saw that a small crowd has already assembled. Quickly moving to the forefront of the crowd, he placed the case on the ground and looked over who had assembled. "Riko, Hayata, kaze... a few others I don't know, and a lot of Academy students... 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 in total... not bad for the first class." With a smile, Shinji bowed politely to the class and announced himself to begin the lesson.

"I'm glad to see you've all come. My name is Konaga Shinji. Just to give you a little background on myself. I am a native resident of the Earth Country and the Head of the Konaga Clan. I was born and raised here and when i was 10, I was admitted into the Academy and was ready to graduate three years later. In lieu of graduating immediately however, I chose to travel, but returned three years later to become a Genin. I am currently a Chuunin of the Iwagakure and I have been for a year. Sufficed to say, I've been around for a while." Amidst this introduction, Shinji did all the things a good speaker/teacher would... he moved around slowly, made eye contact with every individual and spoke very clearly as he did so. Once or twice a random wave of pain would strike him, causing him to flinch suddenly, but with the excitement of giving the class, he was able to fight through it and give very little pause in between his speech.

"The point of these classes is to make sure that everyone in Iwagakure is being properly trained in the basics... from Academy level techniques, to Genin techniques. every day, I will train you in a different ninjutsu, which you will have the opportunity to learn, practice with and finally demonstrate to me for approval. I am by no means a master of Ninjutsu, nor would I ever claim to be... but what I am is a good teacher, and I can teach you mostly any technique you have a scroll for, even if it's not of an element I control. such lessons will have to be done personally after i teach the class the Jutsu of the Day. So, let's get started." Picking up his scroll case, Shinji tossed it towards Riko who was quick to catch it and put it down at her side.

"Since today is the first day, we'll have a special, two for one deal! I'll be teaching you both the Doton: Bunshin no jutsu (Earth Clone technique) and the Doton: Koujin Bunshin no Jutsu (Dust Clone Technique). Now, they may both appear to be similar, but they are used for very different purposes. Now pay attention, I'll perform the Dust Clone technique first... pay attention to the hand seals." Moving his hands through each seal slowly one after the other, Shinji stopped at each one, saying it's name, and pausing for a second before going to the next. Doing this several times, Shinji then demonstrated the technique. Forming the seals much faster this time, he channeled his chakra and molded the technique, finishing the hand seals and holding the final one..."Doton: Koujin no jutsu!". On his incantation, the dust around him began to kick up, swirling in the air just to the left of him as it gained momentum, collecting more dust which spiraled up into a form next to him. The dust then began to shape and color itself until finally an exact duplicate of Shinji stood next to him.

"The key to this technque is control... the sand particles work very differently then the Earth Clone's. They need to be specifically arranged to be cohesive, yet capable of scattering when struck. The Dust Clone is as fast as you are, but has no strength, no endurance, no attack factor. It serves it's purpose though." Ordering the clone to move 10 ft away, in a rather flashy fashion, Shinji removed a kunai from the pack on his back, spinning it around by the lop a few times before whipping it at the Dust clone, causing it to explode into thousands of dust particles. It's designed simply to act as a diversion. Even though it can't attack, that's not something your enemy knows. Throw this clone in his face and when it's destroyed, which it is designed to be, it explodes into hundreds upon thousands of dust particles, which act as a diversion, getting into the enemy's eyes and ears, giving you the upper hand."

"Now, watch for the differences in the Earth clone... you'll feel it when you finally try to replicate the technique, but for now, just watch." Going the rough the hand seals once again, one by one, they were very similar to the dust clone's seals, but different in several spots, which Shinji highlighted as he went. Then, he performed the seals faster, this time molding the technique again as he finished in a final seal... "Doton: Bunshin no jutsu!" With the earth on his right rumbling slightly, the dirt suddenly broke free of the surface and began to clump together beside Shinji, molding and shaping itself into a perfect clone of Shinji.

"They may not look different, but they're build could not be more opposite. The Doton clone is built for power. Your typical elemental clone only has a fraction of your true strength, maybe 20%... probably less. The Earth Clone however has your full strength behind it, and add on to that what it feels like to be hit by something made of compacted dirt, and you get the idea. It's also built for defense. Most clones dissipate from one hit, but it takes two to bring this clone down. Observe." Again, directing the clone to move 15 feet away... as soon as it had done so, with his flashy maneuvering, Shinji released the Flame Wheel from his side, flicking the Shuriken's blades into place as the windmill shuriken extended to it's released size in his hand with the distinct sound of shifting metal before Shinji whipped it through the air at the clone. The clone didn't even bother to move as the shuriken struck the clone, digging into it's chest with a loud *thump* , and remained stuck there as the clone looked around, giving a thumbs up to the crowd.

"See, barely a scratch on it. it can only take so much though." Shinji then followed up the attack, whipping a kunai from behind his back, burying it directly in the clone's skull as it quickly lost cohesion and crumbled to the ground in a pile of dirt, the Flame Wheel landing clumsily on top of it. With a quick set of one handed seals from Shinji however, the kanji on one of the flame wheel's blades lit up and the custom fuuma shuriken whirled through the air back towards Shinji, who caught the center ring of the shuriken masterfully, flicking his wrist to retract the blades, stacking them one on top of the other before reattaching the weapon to hand loosely off of his left hip. "Alright then... let's see you all try it. Just call out for me if you need any more help. Good Luck."
