Once Ivy is mastered, though... *shudder*
My favourite counter to longrange cheapness is good arial attackers. As much as I myself love to play keep-away, I know how annoying it can be, so... once again, yay for Taki, 8-way run, and her arial moves. >D
Then again, some of the slower fighters have good range, and a lot of their attacks stun or incapacitate. That could work, too, if you manage to get some distance between Raph and yourself.

I usually use Nightmare to counter Khilik as the sword has nearly the same range as the staff. Taki is perhaps one of the most mobile characters in the game. Her jumping move is very easy to perform and it lands at the enemy's back. Her little explosive thing, if done with correct intervals could be dangerous as well.
Have you ever fought Voldo at the highest difficulty?
*shudder*
Voldo is definately the most flexible character in the game. Bu I do agree with what you said, a pro Ivy player... good game.

I was pretty good with Raphael, Mitsurugi, Nightmare and Cervantes in my SCII time.
Then it got old. And gay.
So yeah.
There's my two cents...
Xbox CS all the way!

Jarlaxle Baenre CS is pretty gay.Raphael needs no skill to play. Nah, it's just that you have no skill at all.Nah, Raph just has some easy moves. Some of his more complicated ones are a lot better than his basic ones. His parrying moves were fun, too. That takes skill. So does Mitsurugi. Mitsu's a beast when you master him. It's nuts.

Jarlaxle Baenre No, it's just that game is gay. Play something like America's Army.Well he can kick a** with those easy moves. Nah, you just compare games like some kind of wierdo. Play games for what they are, not what they aren't. And besides, America's Army is a PC online game, right? I don't have the bandwidth. Besides, I'm infatuated with Ragnarok Online...Yeah, that's why I was such a Raph whore. Even though I did have some skill with him. Cervantes' parrying moves were fun, too. Especially the one that blasts them with the gun. Fun fun.

I loved, and was addicted to Soul Calibur II before I realized how absolutely unbalanced it is. I am a hardcore Taki player, but in circles where people play the game almost exclusively it is "You play Cervantes or you lose. THems the rules game over"
...Hate Cervantes.....So much.

That's sorta like my story, only with Nightmare. Everybody in my town played (or still plays) Nightmare as if he were a religion, owns with him up and down, and swears that if you don't play Nightmare, you're either gay or a complete and utter loser (or both). Of course, I played Nightmare as well and was somewhat decent with him, but I found Mitsurugi, Raphael, and Cervantes to be more entertaining (if not a change in the norm). However, I was tired of getting multistance combos pulled on me by a man that was twice my size in the blink of an eye.

*raises a hand* I play Raphael and Voldo. I love Raphael's manuverability--he's not as agile as Taki, but he's pretty fast, and a lot of his transient stances let you flip around lightning-quick out of the way of an attack.

Also, this sounds vaguely like a call for the trippy modern-day expansion of Soul Calibur I had kicking around as an idea for an RP. >_> <_<

Voldo scares the crap outta me.
GAWD.
I think that Link, for those of you who have the GC version (if any) has the easiest moves, even easier than Raphael. But it's not about which moves are easier to do, it's about linking them and doing them at the right time.
Taki's still my favourite because she can be tricky enough to make opponants stop guarding. For example, 8WR+A, A, A... in which Taki takes two swings and crouches back. Usually, the target stops guarding here, assuring a good connection on the third hit, when she pounces towards them.
I especially like her B A (optional A) combo, which is the natural follow-up to a counter.
I could go on.
But anyway.
