I think you might need to change the ritual then, cause it seems like it's going in two ways.
A body grown to house a returned, corrupted soul. That is hardly a "living being, empowered by its own negative energy". Its an outright ressurection, like Mr. Genome first mentioned. And, I would argue that a soul has to grow with a body, and fits it like a worn-in comfy pair of slippers. You just can't jump in and take one over at its peak. But that's my philosophical viewpoint. Maybe if they had the body grown around it, basically starting from an inseminated egg and work from there (but that's SCIENCE, more than magic).
On the other hand, if its a living being powered by its own negative energy, then it wouldn't need a soul to be dragged back and placed inside an artificial body; it would be able to produce its own, rendering part of your explanation moot. [/devil's advocate]

Mind you, I'm not trying to ruin your case at all; rather, I'm trying to help you fine-tune it to avoid future issues in the... well, future! sweatdrop

I feel like we have different definitions of the soul. Once you create the body, it wouldn't fuel itself, its just cells, it needs something to drive it, thus the soul is infused in the body.

The way I see it, being "alive but sustained differently" solves a lot of the misunderstandings regarding them. The biggest difference between alive and undead is that a living person is, to quote World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie Wars, "basically a brain with an elaborate support system". In other words, their ability to continue living is dependent upon all of the systems that support their brain, or support a system that supports a brain, etc., continuing to function. Undead, on the other hand, do not actually need the support system of the body. Their body provides locomotion and a means to interact with the physical world, and little else. Of course, if they can function without their body, some non-biological force is responsible for every action they take, then, and that force is almost always deemed magical.
Your guys clearly don't fit the definition of undead. The "alive" part of their description means that they can be killed just like regular people, the "sustained differently" qualification gives them their vulnerability to holy energy (although it also likely means that they don't need normal forms of nourishment, which may make them tougher because some of their organs aren't required to support the body, especially the ones relating to digestion), and the fact that they are animated through normal biological processes means that they aren't subject to magical disruption.

As per RP standards I think a soul-less body would be like someone who'd be lobotomized- the body is fully capable of functioning, but it has no cognition or force to drive it to action except basic ingrained instincts... at a real basic level.

This army of VIOLENCE is going to have to be halted by Mods at some point if this keeps up-- solely because we're not going to simply lose 3 cities in a row.
We are in the process of creating an ARMY system for mass player combat, since simply rping armies going at it is too prone to arguments and douchehattery.

What happens if you lose the cities even after the army system? Does that mean you want combat to cease for the moment?

Slifer Ozura Vahn Fah since simply rping armies going at it is too prone to arguments and douchehattery. What happens if you lose the cities even after the army system? Is this all because of rampant douchehiltery? If so, then your army retreats before it gets wiped out by an act of god WALL.
