By now I'm used to nitpicky arguments in hellenic communities. I think todays took the biscuit.
Somebody drew a picture of a snake on a pillar, somebody else inferred it looked like a p***s. Original person got offended and person 2 got offended by the other person taking offense. eek
...p***s.
In other news, my amazon order is here, yay!

I suppose I should ask here, as there seems to be some foodies.
Anyone know how to do an olive oil infusion? My best friend had this amazing citrus infused oil that was awesome on.... well we ate it on everything, but it was awesome in pesto and for fish, but we're out.
I was thinking a long the lines of sticking peels in some good olive oil and leaving it in a dark place for a week.

It depends on how soon you want the oil and what flavors you want- as some flavors work better in oils that aren't olive oil.

The stuff we bought I think was olive oil, but it was really clear. Either way, I think a nice extra virgin would work with citrus due to it's fruitiness. And I'm fine with waiting if it will end up tasting better. I like my food authentic.

Skip the EVOO, the peppery quality from the first pressing doesn't work as well (and why pay extra for oil if you're going to flavor it anyway- it's like buying the finest Darjeeling and then slathering it in bergamot oil! gonk ). Sterilize the bottle, blanch the orange rinds then slip them into the bottle. Let them sit for about two weeks in a cool dark place.

Job interview on Wedesday. Taking a "sick" day for it.
It would be a lot more money (at least 5k more a year, if not 10), however, it's a glorified call center for an Insurance Company.
Better money and benefits versus....phones....

Now to find the right quantity of which citrus we liked so much. I think it was just orange and lemon, but maybe some lime.

College would be a lot more fun if I knew what I was really going for as a major. >.<
I've been thinking that I would be going into the Chiropractic field for quite some time.... but I've had awful little thoughts buried in the recesses of my brain saying that I'm only pursuing that field because of my mother, and not because I want to. It's stressful, because the only other thing that truly interests me is history (Global History, I guess), but I have a hard time seeing myself as a teacher in public schools or even as a college professor.
Ugh. I just hope I figure it out soon before I bury myself in debt for something I'm not really going to use... [/rant and/or whinefest]

I originally wanted to major in Environmental Studies, because I thought it'd be awesome to have an outdoorsy job. But then, I also love reading and writing, so maybe I should teach high school English. I've had some amazing English teachers. Oh! But studying religion, the human mind, and ancient societies is so fascinating!Anthropology? Archaeology? Environmental Anthropology? Gah! XP ((And then I also want to improve my singing, learn to speak Persian and Latin, brush up on my French, get some backpacking experience, figure out my whole religion thing, get a puppy...)) sweatdrop

mute_coyote Snip Quote: gonk It's tough trying to figure this out. I'm really happy for the people who know their passions early on.... it sure saves them a lot of grief. A High School American History teacher of mine really made me consider being a history teacher/professor. She had this energy and light in her eyes when she'd explain things like how the Boston Massacre started and would demonstrate things with feeling instead of just reading from the textbook. But I'd always liked history really, she just brought to my attention that it didn't have to be stiff and monotone. That, and the health field interests me, especially chiropractors. How the body can heal itself once adjusted correctly amazes me.... but I'm not entirely sure if it was really my idea or if it was my mother's. And that makes me very unsure of myself and question my interests here. Yay stress!
