Farlest grinned widely at her. "Yes! We came after you! You're part of our group, and I don't care what the Doctor says, it's not right to leave someone behind." His statement was adamant. "Team members are supposed to protect one another, so I went after you."
The smile he turned to the other boy was something warmer, fond, and he backed up enough to lean against Ka's shoulder. "Ka'hmesh here decided to be my own personal bodyguard, so I didn't end up going by myself..." He shuddered at that particular thought, "Which I am very glad of." Sighing heavily, his eyes lidded for a moment, as he realized he still wasn't entirely awake, now that adrenaline wasn't surging.
"Mmmnnngh, so why did you leave, Alex? Or did you get lost?" That was one thing he'd been wondering about from the start of this whole thing. "Dr. Kenth was pretty worked up when he realized you were gone...I thought for a sec he was going to run back too."

Greg nodded and either didn’t notice, or completely ignored the challenge in the other professors’ voice. “True, but it’s always nice to have someone else with you, and if it came down to it here, I don’t think that I would be that big of a help. Now with you out there all by your self, there I might help… Of course I might be dissuaded if you could, for once, say please.”

"I am almost humored, Larine. Fine. PLEASE go with the group."
He gave an almost childish huff and turned away. "In case you have not noticed, Larine, I'm not particularly one to be picky about whether I'm alone or not. I can do well both ways--and I'll probably be better off without someone's babbling," he said, turning to give him a profile look.
Then he softened a little. "I know your concern for me. But they need you far more than I do."

Audun gave a faint smile towards Lina as she continued to talk...though one couldn't be sure he wasn't smiling at the fact she had the disease and barely survived or her comment about being here changing everyone. None the less, he smiled faintly and followed her gaze off into the woods.
"Those people over there seem to be hot in conversation, I wonder how long they've all known each other. From what I gather this isn't the first time here for many of you?"
He was grasping at staws here.

Lina turned her head back to him a little, so that one of her green eyes rested on his face. "Wei, Alex, the Doctor and I were all here before. Everyone else just knows somebody or is completely new. Like you and Sable, for example. The others just have people to gravitate towards. Like Ry and Wei, and Professors Araquenosse and Larine."

The young woman stopped working with the branch long enough to scoot between the boys, giving Ka'hmesh a comforting nudge. He seemed to be the most upset by the events, and she felt a little bad that the two innocent boys had been drug into it at all. Alex felt herself grin again as Farlest turned his own upon her; he was so earnest and passionate, he reminded her a lot of herself. At his last question, however, she was silent, mulling over what she should say and what she should keep until they returned.
She remembered hearing that awful yell, the doctor's voice torn; she kenw Farlest was speaking the truth, although the idea of Kenth showing any emotion or uncertainty was hard to believe. "He wouldn't follow, because it's not what he was supposed to do," her grin softened to a knowing smile, "and I don't hold him in contempt for doing that." Another pause, and then, "I left because team members are supposed to protect one another." She glanced slyly at Farlest, "There was something I felt I needed to investigate, and..." Her green gaze turned towards the temple, and she suddenly felt unnaturally cold. "...I'd rather talk about it when we get out of this area. That thing unnerves me."
Alex had to be strong for the boys, but she had a sinking feeling that talking about her dark chase in the presence of this place would only call the creature to them. It may have been a silly thought, but she didn't want to chance it. "Ka'hmesh," she said, wiggling herself into her knees. The branch in her hands had been broken and cut into two pieces, each about half a foot long and flat. "I want to try and fix a proper splint for you...at least until we can get back to the doctor. Will you let me?" The sooner she could secure their well being, the sooner they could leave.
She snapped her fingers and leaned back to the half-empty canteen with willow, taking something else out of the strange box that contained her herbs. Settling back between them, she bit the top off of what looked like an amber straw, before dumping the contents into the canteen, giving it a good shake and handing it to Ka'hmesh. "Start drinking. It's bitter as hell but it'll dull the pain and make it easier to dress the wound. The honey should take the edge off the taste." She took another one of the straws and put it in her mouth, chewing on it before looking at the other two. Holding up a couple more, she offered playfully, "Honey straw? I love these things." Alex wasn't good and making a situation less than what it was, but she was good at offering up random distractions, and the sweet honey was just what she needed to wake up and prepare for the excursion out of the forest.

Ka was watching Farlest as he talked, and smiled faintly ... finding himself feeling a bit better about the whole thing. It was apparent that Far wasn't the type to hide or gloss over ... well. Anything. But it was ok ... that was just how the other boy was.
Ka was also curious as to why Alex had run off, but he wasn't about to press when it was obvious that she didn't want to talk about it right now. In a way, though, he was glad that she apparently was going to tell them later ... rather than treating them like they were too young to hear whatever it was. That had been something Ka had been a bit afraid of about this whole mess. That even though they had all come along and would be doing their best ... the wouldn't be treated like adults. It seemed that Alex, at least, wouldn't be like that though.
When she said his name, he was snapped out of his thought and looked up at her, then nodded. "I don't think anything is broken ... but that would probably be a good idea," he admitted quietly. Taking the tea, he drank some, unable to help making a face at the taste. But he knew that it was going to hurt no matter what ... and if this would dull that pain a little, he could put up with it.
Once he'd finished it, though, he did reach for one of those honey straws, hoping to chase away the bitterness. "Thank you, Alex ... do you know how to get out of here?" Because the two of them surely didn't...

He nodded as Lina spoke, trying to place faces with names that she spouted off like a tap that was openly released. He pretyt much tried to make sense of what he could and he mainly placed names that sounded female with the females and the names of males with males, though he clearly knew who Sable was, as well as the 'Doctor' and super-woman Alex.
"I see. I wonder what it is that pulled everyone back besides the desire to figure out the cause for everything. What I had heard back in my own country brought me here, only in the hopes I could help by noting the bodies. I'm useless at everything else, though maybe not a fight."
Audun smirked a little bit and rubbed the back of his neck, sighing at the already increasing heat. His long sleeves had started to bother him with sweat, so he nonchalantly rolled them up to the crook of his elbow - once again revealing to someone the gross amount of scars and wounds in various stages.
"Did you come back in hopes you could help?"

“I’ve noticed that you pretend not to care.” Greg replied, giving Dante a smile. “But as I know that you would much rather spend time with me, I don’t let what you pretend hurt my feelings. But, as you did say please, I guess that I’ll stay here…. Possibly.” He said that last part rather quietly.

Somewhere near where the woman and the two students resided, the plants stirred slightly, as if wind was moving about them. The temple's color seemed to dim down a little, turning more red than purple.
A pair of golden eyes were watching the three in the shadows silently, calculating. His aura sent out a chilling effect to the surroundings, and then---there she was, staring with greed at the human beings in the center. She had them trapped with her magic, and like a cat playing with mice, she'd torture them until they die...
He felt like he knew her too much. And there he was, wondering what he should do.

"!....." Dante turned his head abruptly to hide his surprise...and then puffed up in indignation when he understood. Okay, that was IT. Time to pull out the big guns.
"Perhaps so," he said, an eerie smile on his face as he approached the other Professor, close enough to whisper in his ear. "But I'd be careful what you say around me...Logan."
Then he passed indifferently, standing at the edge of their little clearing and ignoring Greg.
Lina was silent for a moment in response to Rown's question. "...Yes. But...my motives are sadly a bit more selfish than that.
"I'm not one to leave something unfinished; if I find that something I've done isn't completed, I always feel some sort of emptiness within me. I came primarily because this mystery hasn't been solved yet...and I need to find out what it is I've left undone."
She turned to his face, a smile coming easily to her lips. "You'll forgive me if I offend you, but...you're not really a talkative person, are you?"

Herei observed the bird as Irame talked, watching the ebb and flow of the liquid that composed the creature. When she was finished, his eyes flicked back to hers, and he offered a gentle smile. "There is nothing ridiculous about facts, Professor," he reassured her, "not when there are overwhelming odds that are pointing to something that none of us have ever seen. As an expert in your field, I would be a fool not to consider your words." He leaned a little towards her, speaking very quietly so that only Irame could hear, "I don't believe that humans are capable of the carnage of those bodies. There's something more methodical and sinister that makes me pause for thought." She really had no idea how close she was to the truth, and what the Goddess Luna really was. None of them did...and they shouldn't, not yet.
The man remained kneeling as he watched the elven woman and her blood-pet. "Have you ever encountered a demon or the undead in a place like this? Are there signs we should be looking for?" Although he was smiling, there was nothing chiding or mocking in his voice; on the contrary, his tone was serious and inquisitive.

Audun shook his head slightly in regards to her question and the smile that he had on his own lips quickly played away back into his usual frown. His eyes cast themselves at his mud-and-grass scuffed shoes that seemed to want to bury themselves deeper beneath his body, and he simply stared for a moment or two before looking back up at Lina.
"Let's just say...my usual company doesn't talk back to me. If they did, well then I'd have to assume that zombies are indeed real and I should quickly change my profession."
It was a joke of sorts but since Audun was weak on the social skills between humans he wasn't sure if it went over or not. She probably had no idea his profession or his usual company, nor did she probably care enough to ask him about it - not that he would openly tell or brag.
Embalming wasn't exactally a job of pride - it was a job of neccesity to him. He did it for others or so he'd hoped, surrounding himself in bodies that for a brief while he could pretend were dear friends and family of his own.
"As for the mystery here, I wonder if someone like me could be of any help. I did nothing when Alex and those children ran away, I merely listened to the commands of the doctor and followed him here like a puppy follows its master. I didn't even give myself a true chance for thought on that and I wonder if they could be dead due to me not caring for them and running after."
Was he honestly opening up about Alex and Farlest and Ka? Probably not.

((A note to everyone here: I will be on vacation from tomorrow until the 14th, and have no idea when I'll be able to post. Would someone mind taking over Lina and Dante for then? I will write essential posts, and ending reflections, and PM them to you. Please PM if interested at all.))
"....Ah," Lina said, and her face became a bit softer, more sympathetic. "I see. It can be hard to...to be alone. I guess that's why I stayed with Nai for so long, but little by little I'm learning to get along on my own. I think I'll be all right, and you will be too."
She turned to face him, nodding after his second comment. "Listening to Kenth and intuition is important, yes. But this is also a place where instinct cannot be allowed to rule all the time. If you had chased after those three, you'd be just as lost as them--and you'd have no way to help them. Staying here, with us, at least we have a chance of knowing where we are, knowing how to get back."

Elijah sat back, finishing off the fruit Rui had so kindly given him. With a smile on his face he pulled his bag to his side and from it took out his artpad and pencil. Connecting the lead with the thin sheet of paper he started to sketch away, focusing on a few people here and there and lightly drew little sketches of each of them, none of which were master pieces, but for the amount of time he took they didn't look bad at all. Glancing up, he cast his eyes around the people again noticing how all of them in some way or another were deep in conversation though some it seemed to be more heated then others.
