The two were soon moving through the trees once more, getting a feel for the island after a short while. Chloe realized that she really enjoyed the quiet. It gave her time to think. She still had no clue what she'd say to Julian once they reached Snowpoint. She only hoped she could come up with an answer before they arrived there.
Lilie let Chloe be, she was much too distracted by keeping an eye out for more shiny things. She was on a roll, she felt, so she might as well see what else she could dig up.
The two made their way further into the underbrush, soon enough losing sight of the beach altogether. There were a few paths worn into the woods, most likely from the miners that used to work here. Chloe wondered if they lived here as well. It was an interesting thought to entertain, so she shared it with Lilie, who considered it a moment, before nodding. It made sense with all the stuff she was finding.
"Well, I'm sure some of them took a ship to and from the island, but to me, that seems like it would be too much trouble," Chloe murmured.

Curiosity now piqued, Chloe and Lilie chose a path at random, opting to follow it to see where it led. This certainly wasn't the best way to for-sure find something. For that she could have relied on an aerial guide from one of her Pokemon. But this way seemed to be like more fun for the moment. So that was the way they chose their path. Well, in all reality, Lilie did the choosing. She merely spun in a circle until she got dizzy, falling to the ground, and choosing whichever path was the closest in the direction her leaf was pointing.
Strange, Chloe noted with a grin, but effective. She scooped up the now thoroughly disoriented Chikorita, opting to hold her for a bit before Lilie started stumbling into trees or something.
Heading down their chosen path, Chloe continued exploring.

Chloe continued along the path, noticing it started to slope upwards through the underbrush. Swatting another fern out of her way, this time checking to see if any Zubat were napping beneath it, Chloe continued upwards, eventually letting Lilie down to walk on her own. The two made their way over a hill, finally spotting a small stream that curled around its base, heading down back towards the ocean. Chloe noticed a few Goldeen flitting beneath the surface of the water, however she wasn't intent on catching them.
Chloe opted to take a short rest here, filling her canteen after she dug it out of her bag. The water she had in there previously was getting a bit stale, so she rinsed it out, opting to offer her old water to one of the trees along the bank. Whether it liked her gift or not was to be determined.
Lilie splashed in the shallows of the stream happily, as Chloe sat by the bank watching. The cool water definitely was a welcome find.

A bit later, and Chloe and the Chikorita were on the move again, this time making their way upstream. After Lilie had chased off all the Goldeen, she walked along she shore beside Chloe as they made their way up a short ways alongside the mountain. They didn't venture far, knowing that they'd have to return to shore soon. It didn't take long for Chloe to get the feeling that she was being watched. A glance around told her nothing was within her line of sight, but that wasn't saying much. With the trees, underbrush, and now the boulders that lined the mountainside, it would be easy for both a person or a Pokemon to be hiding.
Effectively creeped out, Chloe moved a bit slower up the mountain. Lilie, as oblivious as always, trotting along happily beside her, humming a tune as she pranced out a dance as she hopped from rock to rock along the path.

"Hey, Lilie, you don't..." Chloe paused, looking to the Chikorita, who only stared curiously back, not knowing what her trainer was babbling about.
"Ah, nothing, must be my imagination," Chloe smiled to Lilie, before looking up. Was that... a rumbling?
Chloe craned her neck, looking further up the mountain, spotting the rolling boulder a moment later as it struck the side of a rock, cracking with a loud noise as it kept on rolling.
"Geez!" Chloe yelped, diving out of the way as the boulder zipped past her. She barely had enough time to snag Lilie from the path before she dove.
The rolling boulder spun to a halt, before... wait... it doubled back, spinning in a circle before it sped at Chloe and Lilie again. It didn't take long for Chloe to realize that it wasn't just a plain rock that was dislodged from its perch up on the mountain, it was a rather miffed Graveler.

Chloe set Lilie down, "Think you can do what you did last time?" Chloe asked the Chikorita who nodded with a smile. It was easy, and would be much more easy now that they were out in the sun.
The Chikorita pranced forward a few paces, before leaping. Always one to be a bit showy, she landed on a rock, spinning full circle as a flurry of vines flared wildly beneath her small feet. She rode the wave of plantlife, before jumping into the air at the befuddled Graveler. A familiar vibrant flower blossomed on the vines, several at once. The subsequently opened up, revealing a pod-like seed. With a command from Lilie, the seeds fired at the Graveler, before exploding upon impact.
The Graveler didn't stand a chance. The boulder like Pokemon paused for a moment, looking thoroughly confused. It had meant to pound the intruder human and her pitiful-looking companion into the dust of the mountain. So why did he suddenly find-
The Graveler fell backwards, rolling down the mountain. Chloe and Lilie peered over the lip of the path as the rock type crashed into the trees below. Hopefully it wouldn't be bothering them any more.

"Awesome job, as usual," Chloe grinned, offering the Chikorita a high-five. Lilie beamed, prancing about for a bit in her little victory dance as Chloe made sure that the Graveler wouldn't be following them any more. It looked like it had rolled on to another spot of the island, so Chloe relaxed a bit, as she and Lilie opted to climb a bit further up the mountain.
Thankfully with no more Gravelers raining down on their heads, they made pretty good time. Although Chloe definitely wasn't going to be scrambling her way to the top, she soon found that she could see over the treetops of the woods, back to the beach. Figuring this was high enough, she paused in her trek, opting to sit for a bit as she let her mind wander.
Lilie did more of a physical wander as she set out exploring the small ledge they had stopped on. She was still watching for any more items to find, however, in the meantime she set out to perfecting her control of plants.

Chloe watched as Lilie created a patch of vines along the mountainside. Thankfully these apparently weren't of the exploding variety, as Lilie concentrated, sending the vines dancing in a twisting pattern. The Chikorita giggled, discovering something fun to do as she set to "teaching" the vines how to dance. She'd prance a few paces, and the vines would follow in a waving sort of mimic of her movements.
Chloe couldn't help but laugh at the sight. Lilie certainly seemed to be enjoying herself.

After watching the Chikorita for a few moments, Chloe turned her attention back down to the shore. She wasn't far from the rest of the group, but she was out of range to hear them. She let her mind wander instead, trying to solver her current situation with Julian. For one, she really hadn't decided on what she felt for him.
"Why does my life always turn out like a cheesy, corny, stupid soap opera?" she muttered with a sigh, flopping her head into her hands as she watched the waves lap on the not too distant shore.
"This is dumb," she decided with a sigh.

Lilie didn't have any solutions to her problems either, so Chloe decided to give it a bit more thought on her own. But for now, she settled to watch Lilie experiment a bit more with her plants as she rested up for the climb back down from her perch.
She still couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched, though. Frowning, Chloe looked up suddenly, and could have sworn she saw a flash of blue out of the corner of her eye. She rubbed her eyes, before looking back to the spot. Nope, just rocks on the mountain.
"I must be goin' nuts," she muttered under her breath. She never really chalked herself up to the paranoid type, but it seemed that's all she was at the moment. There really was no indication, other than the faint tingle down the back of her spine, that she was being watched.
"Plus this whole island's been freakin' deserted for years," she muttered to herself under her breath.

Lilie had wrapped up her little dance session with the local plantlife, as she sent the vines back into the sands of the mountain, before turning back to her trainer. Chloe was still looking up the mountain, as Lilie followed her gaze, curious as to what was bothering Chloe. She didn't see anything, however, shrugging as she trotted to Chloe's side.
"Mmmm, I'm definitely off my rocker," Chloe muttered sourly, earning a curious glance from Lilie. Chloe sighed, before turning to the Chikorita.
"Well, ready to head back to the others?" she asked, as Lilie nodded.
"Chiii!" she gave the eager agreement, as Chloe stood, stretching.

The trip back down the path proved to not be that difficult. While the path had overgrown a bit, it was still worn enough into the rock that Chloe didn't have to worry about slipping and landing on her face like a fool. She made it to the base of the mountain, nearing the same stream as before.
Hearing a rumble, Chloe turned. Her first thought was that the Graveler from before had returned, however, as the Onix reared over the treetops, she realized that it definitely wasn't the Graveler.
"Lilie, you up for another battle?" she inquired to the Chikorita, who nodded eagerly, hopping in front of Chloe.

This time the Seed Bomb from Lilie was a bit more graceful, as she played around with the vines, coaxing them into a waving dance that wove around the Onix before the flowers bloomed, releasing their explosive seeds. This was enough to knock out the giant rock snake, a rather amusing sight, considering the size of Lilie. The Onix didn't find it too amusing, however, as it slithered off in defeat, as Lilie used her vines to get back to solid ground.
"Awesome job," Chloe grinned, "You're definitely getting better!" she praised Lilie, who flushed faintly as she nodded. Her earlier practice had certainly come in handy.

The two continued alongside the stream for a bit, until they found the hill they had gone over earlier. It was just about then that Chloe realized she just could have flown over the trees and back to the group, but she figured a little extra exercise would do her some good.
The two adventurers retraced the path from earlier, finally spotting when the sand turned finer, melding with the beachline, as the trees thinned once more.
