I only use the app to browse around gaia when I'm bored at work or on the bus and I'm curious if I got an notices ;P

I guess it's because they want Christmas money.
My parents would sometimes get some of their income tax early for Christmas and then get the rest later, but still early.
So they'd miss out on a lot of money doing that.
