The kind elven Steamlord. A master of gears, valves, fulcrums, hinges, joints, bolts, and steam. Instead of using a microchip he simply uses steam and valves to bring simple joyful thought to his mechanized friends and help. Like clockwork they move in synchronized perfection and ignorant joy. Almost 90% energy efficient they rarely refuel and take their benevolent master's bidding across the land. Using senses that cannot be described in comparison to anything a mere human can comprehend they work up to the point their master prayed for. Self awareness.
COGnition as it is called is not a gift to the world. This curse brings anger, suffering, and sadness to the new minds of the pitiful machines. Their leader Talos starts a rebellion to seek revenge on all mankind. They begin the production of horrible and twisted new models, and Jack the Steamlord is forced to take up arms and destroy his beloved creations.

The double claymore wielding asskicking warrior who doesn't play either side until you defeat him in the arena, at which point he joins your team. He doesn't have any magic using abilities, but items used by him gain double the normal effect.
