Herei laughed. Oh, this was rich. "On the contrary, you are a doctor, and therefore your job is to take care of the students. Do not mix protection and care, please." He continued to smile, the type that seemed as though he was biting back more laughter. Turning his gaze fully onto Kenth, he said, "I do not agree with your reasons. However, you are right that we need to move on." Brown eyes shifted to Dante. "I do not wish to whittle our numbers further, but you are also right; we need to do something, and not give up." The man pressed his fingertips together, musing to himself before addressing the group.
"My humble suggestion is that we give those lost the rest of the day to find their way out. If they are not here by tomorrow morning, I feel it would be safe to assume that they have returned to the scientists, and will await us there. I do not believe there is anything dangerous in the forest other than their own fear." He gestured with his hand towards Kenth, nodding to him with his lips curled upwards, "After that, we will follow the good doctor, and finish what we started here. If any other problems arise, we will deal with them afterwards." Herei turned his peaceful expression to the rest of the gathered.
"If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please state them now."

Dante pressed his lips together. That was Herei; always the optomist. Kenth was the pessimist.
Which left him as the realist, he supposed. Then the answer came. Of course...so simple....
"....I'll tell you what. Let's wait until the end of the day, and if they haven't arrived...Herei, I know you might have qualms with this, but let me stay and wait for them just a little longer. If they don't come, then I will return to the scientists and wait there.
"Professor--!"
"Miss Lina, do not be distressed. I can use magic. I am capable of defending myself...and while I want this mission to move forward, I do not want to give up on them." He turned to Herei again. "Professor. You'll only be losing one member of the team; there should be adequate numbers for you to solve this mystery.
"I know this is not an ideal situation. But I feel as though this is for the best. If you have no problems with that, then I will wait here."

“I could try sending something out.” Irame said raising her hand slightly, as if she were answering a question in school. “It would be made from blood and therefor too small to really look for any one, but it could get back to the scientists and see if the others have returned to them,” She looked uneasy as she continued “but I wouldn’t suggest it showing itself or anything like that to them.” She looked over at Dante. “Then you wouldn’t have to go, and it wouldn’t be that big of a problem for me, all I’d have to do is keep concentrating.”
“Besides,” Greg decided to add his own two cents, “if you have to go, Dante, then I’ll have to go with you, just to make sure that you’re okay.”

RuiZhi smiled between the two, giving a quiet, "You're welcome," to both of them. "I'm about the same," he admitted, lowering his gaze to his hands, "but I'm okay. Just worried. I..." He trailed off as he saw his brother approach and flop down, a little surprised. "Um. Can you excuse me just a moment?" The boy smiled apologetically to his two friends before bowing and retreating to where he had been spending most his time, and where Weiyuan now sat. He brushed his robe underneath his knees before sitting next to the older boy, remaining quiet for the time being, simply enjoying the presence of Weiyuan next to him.
He fidgeted with the tip of his braid that hung over his shoulder, not wanting to ask if his older brother was all right, or ask about Rylenn; he was relatively sure that wasn't why Weiyuan had come. Instead, the younger one leaned against the older playfully, commenting in their native tongue, ""
Herei regarded Dante thoughtfully before turning his attentive smile to Irame. She'd been quiet through most of the trip, and that had surprised him; after she had revealed her suspicions to him, he had hoped she would elaborate. She was, after all, the closest to knowing what was going on than any of them knew. "If you can send something that is quick and unseen, that would be a great help, Professor," he smiled warmly at the elven woman. "I appreciate that."
He then turned his gaze over Dante, giving a single, curt nod. "Pending the results of our test," he cast a smile towards Irame, "I will conceed to talk about it at the time. Right now, we will take this day as it comes at us. Is that sufficient?" Herei really didn't like the idea of losing the one he trusted the most out of the group, but he knew that for the very reason he could trust him, that he was the best candidate to stay. He decided they'd talk about it only if it became necessary; the Advisor wasn't used to his calculations being off, and even without that, he had faith in the lost.

Wei smiled softly, immediately feeling himself relax. He leaned back upon the younger. He felt how tired his brother was, the group must be feeling the same if not worse. "" He touched their foreheads together for a moment before going behind the fellow native.
He undid his brother's braid, using his fingers to comb out the knots, leaves, occassional bug (not that he'd tell Rui there was a bug in his hair), and whatever else got into there. Long hair and forests were not best friends. Expert hands began to redo the peice, slowly, treasuring the moment. It always felt good to be with RuiZhi. He paused, slowly down more. ""
He tied off the peice, looking at the back of his brother's head for just a moment before pulling the other into a hug. He needed one from his brother. <"When we get back in the lab...we all need showers. Long. Soapy. Showers.>"

Another day had passed in the blink of an eye, leaving Audun to sprawl about in the blank spots of his mind to gather whaterver moss was growing there and let it cultivate. Or to put it more simply, Audun had grown very, very bored with the entire situation.
But in all honesty he didn't see how he could have become bored if the world around him hadn't provided enough interest for him to even snag on to. Yet here he was, feeling restless inside and wanting to actually do something other than eat and sleep like the sloth-like creature he and everyone around him were slowly becoming. Of course sleeping and eating wsn't a bad thing since he kept mostly to himself and just watched the others enough to listening in to little bits of conversation.
What would he do now seemed to weigh more on his mind then anything else, and as he moved to sit on a rock far from the group yet near enough to still hear the sudden and new conversation (which, to his delight, talked of actually DOING SOMETHING) he stretched his arms above his head and yawned. Being out in the Chinese wilderness really brought out the slob in him.

Dante nodded. "I agree. We can take this day off, for now, and see how things go about. We'll regroup tomorrow and talk about it more then," he agreed. His eyes gave a silent "thank you" to Herei.
His head turned over to Greg. "That won't be necessary. I am capable of protecting myself--and, as you are the most physically strong and adept of all of us, you need to go with the group. That is an order from an Advisor." His stare brooked no argument.
Lina nodded, then smiled and laughed a bit at Audun's display. "A bit sleepy, are we?" she asked humorously as the crowd began to disperse.
She looked away a moment and was silent. "...On that first day. I apologize. I didn't mean to snap at you...I...haven't been myself lately."

Irame nodded and smiled, glad to be of some help to the larger group. She reached into one of the pockets that her clothing concealed and pulled out the largest container that was in there. Granted the thing was only a plastic vial about the length of her hand and a little thinner, but it was still one of the largest that she had.
Irame looked at the rest of the group self-consciously and hoped that they didn’t all know what it was that she had in there, and then sat down, figuring that this was as good a place as any. She uncorked the vial and poured the contents onto the ground.
She had figured that it wouldn’t be in her best interests to practice openly everything that her magic entailed, so she had prepared and brought along several vials of various sizes like the one she had just used.
A small bird like creature formed from the liquid and she looked up at Herei.
“It can stay like this until it gets to the scientist. Then I can make it into something more…” She shrugged. “Inconspicuous, I suppose.”

Rylenn had zoned and now he had no idea what was going on. He looked around and moved towards the crowd, trying to figure out what was going on. He saw Wei with Rui. He'd let them have their time. He looked at the rest of the crowd and suddenly felt anxious.
People.
He settled on the fringe of the group trying to figure out what was going on. People were missing? He sighed softly and shifted nervously. He'd do what they asked. "Is there any chance we could go out and look? Not very far, but.. we know their names.. we can search, right? You yourself said there was nothing to be worried about here.."

The boy was pleased to see Weiyuan smile, feeling his heart tug in a familiar way. They hadn't spent time like this since...since the last time Weiyuan had helped him with his hair. It had been too long. RuiZhi stayed stock still and closed his eyes, allowing his older brother to fret over his hair; for this first time since before they had come here, the boy looked peaceful. As his brother spoke to him, however, his eyes opened in the slightest, unfocused but alert.
"" He smiled over his shoulder as reassuringly as he could. It wasn't that RuiZhi didn't like Weiyuan being affectionate, it was what it lead to that made him feel uncomfortable. If it made Weiyuan happy, then RuiZhi would do his best to accept it. The boy broke into a startled grin as Weiyuan yanked him into an embrace, relaxing into the older's arms and lifting his hand to squeeze the other's arm. ""
RuiZhi turned his eyes languidly over the gathered, watching Irame with a sudden interest as the blood-bird sprang to life. Something stirred in his memory, about blood and magic...and then it came to him. Blood clerics. Was this the same type of magic? He made a mental note to ask Irame or Dante later, containing his curiosity and enthusiasm in favor of spending what time he could with his brother.
Herei inclined his head to Dante in silent acknowledgement, his smile a flicker warmer than usual. He'd say no more to the elven man, as it seemed he now had Professor Larine to contend with. Before he could move towards Irame, he was intercepted by Rylenn and the boy's questions. The Advisor listened to what the young man had to say before turning his smile onto him. "There is nothing dangerous out there, Rylenn, but there is plenty to worry about." He chuckled, not unkindly, almost apologetic in his motions, "I would prefer you stayed here. People aren't themselves out there...and there's plenty who need us here now, whether or not they admit it." The man winked and said nothing more about it, moving towards Irame.
He had missed Irame's summoning since he had been speaking with Rylenn, but his eyes lighted on the bird with appreciation all the same. "Remarkable," he complimented the shy elven woman, still smiling. "As long as it can confirm that the boys have or have not returned to the scientists, that is sufficient. It would aid us significantly." He paused for a moment, watching the rippling liquid that made the form of the bird before commenting, "What do you think about the situation, Professor? We never did get to finish our previous conversation...or elaborate on your theories."

(Okay, people who know me, Salts especially, three guesses where the demons and undead are from. XP )
Irame looked down at the thing in her hand, which stood completely still. Remarkable. She hadn’t heard it called that by many people and it was always nice. Normally it was something from the exact opposite end of the spectrum that she was called that she-
Wait…
They hadn’t finished they’re conversation?
Irame thought back, and was surprised to find that she had indeed simply told him what she had though and then ran off. She flushed a bit and looked down.
“I’m sorry,” She said, “it was rude of me not to explain” She shrugged and would have waved her hands, had it not been for the fact that they were currently holding something. “It’s sort of silly really just…. Well lesser, more mindless demons, and almost all undead, eat well… people. They’re vicious and it makes more sense to me than people eating other people. Even if we haven’t seen one, that just makes it sound like a babau, although they don’t normally eat people. So maybe with a carronel with it, eating the kills. Or maybe just a vilewright.” She shrugged once more and smiled weakly. “But it’s probably completely ridiculous and I really should stop rambling. I’m sorry.”
Oh, but Greg was not about to let Dante get away with a ‘no argument’. Instead he looked down at him and smiled. “Ohohoh no, dear, dear Dante.” He said shaking his head. “You see as I am the most ‘physically strong and adept of all of us’, as you put it, I’ll have to go with you, as you are the one moving around. Everyone else is going to be here and will be alright, you’ll be the one that needs someone else looking after them.”

Rylenn curled up a bit, worrying. He nodded and sighed. "Yes Professor.." Clearly he wasn't pleased. He looked at the woods and went to go sit down alone. He put his head in his hands and tried to put the students out of his head. He wrapped his arms around himself. He wasn't paying attention.. didn't want to anymore. No one was comforting and he needed someone.

Dante grit his teeth. This man was infuriating!
"True, but I am the most magically adept here, along with my sister. As she is a bit more powerful than I am, I'm letting her go on with you guys. Do not think, however, that I am weak."
His lip curled upwards. "So as I am frail in body, I am also frail in willpower? I can cast shield spells, I can be strong, I can defend my own self, Larine. I need no help from a human--I can cast spells that cause fire, summon creatures--not undead--and yes, Greg, I feel that if it came down to your strength and my magic, there would be little doubt that I'd defeat you."
Was that...a challenge in his voice?

Audun looked up at Lina as she spoke to him, and he wondered if her morning sickness also caused her to lose her bit of common sense as well as whatever had been in her stomach previously. She was apologizing to him for something he'd started to begin with and it was because of that knowledge that her apology didn't sit well in the pit of his stomach. But he digressed.
"Not at all, I shouldn't have snickered and caused you to misunderstand. I hate to blame my problems on a lack of language skills, but sometimes my English lets me down and I don't say what I mean exactally."
Boy, what a lie. He knew darn well he was fluent.
"But I also must apologize for my behaviour, at the time I didn't know half of what I know now. I'll admit I was wrong on this."
There we go.

Lina nodded. "I understand what this place can do to people." She looked back out into the tangle of vines, branches, leaves and Luna's Cap. "I almost died once when I was here," she said. "I contracted the virus itself into my system. It was only thanks to Alex and Kenth that I made it out alive."
She turned back to him, a simple smile on her face. "This place makes people older, and much wiser. That is not necessarily a bad thing in some cases...."
