Watching shifts of course.
Daemon replied, until he realized there was potential in something that Gion had said.
Though.. I suppose we could also do travelling shifts if she's awake enough during the day to turn into something big, it would go faster.

Well I showed you how big she was earlier, Gion grinned, looking out over the horizon, searching for the Borderlands once more. He spotted smoke coming from a few chimneys and started out in that direction, his feet barely leaving any indentations in the snow. Something that big would be good. Although I was also told she flies, maybe she could be a big enough bird to fly me around.

Gion nodded and picked up his pace. But at least I can sleep better now, he replied. It's a lot easier to sleep when I'm warm ... and Mother makes quite a warm moor cat to sleep against.
He smiled wistfully. I really wish my brothers thought differently, he thought sadly. They have no idea what they're missing out on ... I don't even really know her any more, but I do know that she's wonderful.

Daemon couldn't help but laugh softly at that, it reminded him of how a little child would feel. After all would not any little child be delighted that their mother could change into a great big cat?
Indeed, they are missing out on some things, but they strike me as far too serious to enjoy something like that.
Daemon replied.
They need to have fun a bit, she is very nice, and her motherly instincts have not at all dulled from the sounds of it.

Yeah but they wouldn't want her around either, Gion pointed out. She's just like my sister is, and look what they did to HER!
He felt his temper rising again and tried to push it back down.

Which to me.... is a curious thing, yes you've given me the reasons to why they think that way... but it seems to be oddly so... like double think.
Daemon replied back in a curious manner, though it was true he was not happy the way Serenity or Elnara were treated there was something... even slightly so curious about it.

Gion blinked. What do you mean? he asked curiously, hopping across a small ditch and holding onto the kitten on his shoulder so that she wouldn't fall.

Double think means to think one way, while ignoring something else completely that would contracdict that mode of thought when it doesn't fit in. It's like believing in two opposite things.
Daemon tried to explain.
You tell me that part of the fear and rejection is the result of the fact people believe that power makes them demonic, the other, yet your sister has helped raised your older brothers yes? And they would remember this? To continue rejecting your sister, they would have to ignore the fact they were raised by her, because it would say something about themselves to be raised by someone who is considered... demonic yes?

Gion shook his head inwardly. No, she didn't help to raise any of us ... when we moved to the city, she spent her time away from the castle. And she was only there with us for less than two months ... Elrohir was the one who raised us, not Elnara.
He looked toward the horizon. I'm the youngest who even remembers her, he added sadly. Rigel, Reave, Shea and Mikhail ... they were too young. And even I only have vague memories from before she disappeared.
Then he finally answered Daemon's point. So no ... not really any double think there.

But Serenity is your mother... isn't that double think?
Daemon asked softly.
How can you call your mother demonic when you share the same blood? Wouldn't that mean somewhere inside you have a bit of demon blood in you?

Gion shrugged. I don't know, he admitted. I can't pretend to understand the way my brothers think - I've never understood them about simple matters, I sure am not going to understand them on somehing as complex as this could be.
He hoped that Serenity couldn't hear them, though he knew that she wasn't touching Daemon at all, and he was pretty sure she was asleep.

It's a question I'm sure if you asked them they would be infuriated because they can't answer it. When you're trying to define yourself and the 'other' so to speak, you don't want to think about it generally.
Daemon replied, thinking how Socrates would just irrtate Gion's brothers.
Think about it, sometimes to convince someone of something you have to find holes in their logic and ask the questions they are not comfortable with.

Look, they think little enough of me as it is, Gion frowned. If I start bugging them like that they'll throw me out just like the did Elnara.
He paused. Well ... maybe not so much like that, but they would sure make life harder for me than they already have.

And they deserve questions like that.
Daemon replied back pointly.
Their views have to be shooken up, otherwise they'll never change. A well placed question can be better than any other way of arguing. Sometimes, you have to stand up to others, really they don't give you much thought anyhow. It's hard to make your life any harder if what you do is actually study and work towards something.
