hi all ^__^ glad to find another male flutist (hope you're not a jerk, though! >P) anyway, I just learned that flutist was pronounced "flou-tist", like in cow o.0 so piccolo is probably some REALLY weird thing... whee

(though I do tend to say "flou-tist")

In the play I'm going to be in, there is a band that I'm going to be in. (It's made up of mostly high school and college students.) The composer is conducting us, but the lady directing the choir thinks she's the queen of the world. It bugs me. She decided to add in a bunch of fermatas and ritardandos. It wouldn't be so bad if the fermatas weren't in the middle of phrases which not only sounds bad, but throws us off. Why?

There's only one boy in the flute section in band. And all of the people are Asian. And I keep losing challenges. And my face is like a square

omg I had this sub one time for Band, and he was sitting up in the director's chair and was like 'Okay, she wants you to practice Oxford Point.' so we all got it out and he was like '1, 2, 3... What, am I supposed to say go?' xd It was so funny.

I love playing the Flute and Piccolo! I get so excited when I talk about marching band. I'm going to tell you why next year will be so great. Not only will I be the only male Piccolo-ist, I will be the only Piccolo-ist. We get new uniforms. We're probably going to be doing The Beatles and there are like 2 spots where the Flutes and Piccolo (hehe Piccolo just one) have a little solo action going on so it's like my own little somewhat kind of solo. And Ryan (the other guy flute/piccolo-ist whom I have a major crush on him, but he's straight) is probably going to be Drum Major along with the other Flute ahead of me. So, I get more practice in with the music which is what our Concert Band chairs are based on. So, if I get ahead of Ryan (lisa will be a senior so she'll probably be first chair) in the second half of the year I will be getting all the solo's. I just have to stay on top of the game because I have to worry about him challenging me. I might challenge him this year. Sorry that was so long

Yeah, picc players should definately be used to high pitched sounds xd We have the overall thing too, but we have a jacket to go over it, so they just look like pants. Oh god, I hate it when all the piccs are out of tune, on top of that, I have the percussion right behind me. I have like the worst spot to sit xd
