Foras was a little surprised by just how blunt Ganymede was being about the missing child. Honestly, Foras felt about the same as he did given the situation. He was definitely more concerned about staying safe himself, that he didn't want to risk going after a runaway child. The kid was probably scared, separated from a family member or something. It helped ease his conscience a bit that so many other people had volunteered. He just hoped nothing got in as they were leaving.

Ava was going around and giving out food by then. He accepted some peanut-butter crackers and a bottle of water. Something to give him a little boost of energy to fight off anything potentially dangerous. He had to admit, it was a little concerning that those bitten were getting so sick.

"You don't really think this could be some kind of...virus? Causing all of this. Do you?" He was concerned about just what had been created in that lab. It was clear the stones had mutated in some way or another. He just hoped the things were sick and whatever made them crazy wasn't contagious.

Once the injured approached she ushered them away from the others, joined by Yuki, the head nurse.

By this time, the injured individuals have become to feel very ill. Nausea, body aches, and a fever have begun to set in. Some might experience shakiness, or numbness at the site of the bite they received in their escape.

"Can you show us where you were hurt?" Yuki questioned, taking out her first aid kit. "I'll give more specific care to those wounds."

        What to do:
If your character is injured, quote Yushika to speak to Yuki about your wounds.

If your character is not injured, you may carry on as you are or attempt to listen in on what's going on with the infected survivors.

Arabelle stood at the nurse's station, feeling a bit in a daze. Her eyes had taken on a somewhat glassy look. She had started shivering a bit, yet could feel sweat forming on her body. She was beginning to wonder if she should even remain standing or try to find another spot to sit.

It took her a moment to realize the nurse was speaking.

"Ah, right...right here," Arabelle said, trying not to slur her words. She tried to move the blanket but it dropped from her shoulders entirely, puddling on the floor. She thought about picking it up, but the moment she started to bend she was engulfed with a wave of dizziness. Nope, this wasn't going to work.

She stood there, trying to keep her balance and swaying a little. The bandaging on her shoulder felt very strange, kind of tight and itchy and a little sticky. With the level of pain in her shoulder Arabelle wouldn't have thought she'd have noticed such small irritations, but they were there and grating on her. Perhaps the wound was starting to get infected? The simultanteous sweats and chills were clue enough to her that she had a fever. Whatever was going on, her body was trying its best to fight.

While Yuki cannot seem to do much for their symptoms, the injured remain in stable condition. Their symptoms seem to wax and wane as the time goes on. All she can seem to do in the meantime is bandage them up and keep a watch on their conditions. It does seem perplexing that healing magic doesn't seem to have much of an affect on their condition at all... but Yuki refrains from mentioning this to anyone for now.

        What to do:
Carry on with that you've already been doing- by this time, the search party has been gone for 2 hours with no word. It's starting to worry some of the staff, but they're all keeping quiet about it.

If your character is injured, they should be able to notice that their symptoms are coming and going- but also that Yuki can't seem to do much for them at all. How they choose to handle this is up to you. They are still required to stay in Yuki's medical corner.

Arabelle sat with her back against the wall, still at the nurse station. The nurse (she mentioned her name was Yuki) hadn't been able to do much besides change the bandages on Arabelle's shoulder, lead her to a quiet spot, help her sit, then cover her with the blanket she had dropped. She could tell Yuki was concerned over the wound, but she said nothing and Arabelle wasn't in much of a state to try to guess anything.

She just sat there, trying to ride things out. Éloi was a comforting presence on her shoulder. It was good that he seemed content to just sit, because she couldn't really move her left arm at all and if she moved her right she'd upset him. At least her right shoulder didn't hurt as much, and felt almost normal. Whatever was wrong with that bite wound that Yuki couldn't fix, the pulled muscle in her right shoulder gave her no such troubles. Even the pain medication from before seemed to have helped it, which was probably why she noticed the pain seeming to be less and less.

It made her wonder just what on earth was happening inside her body right now. Part of her realized she should probably being worrying, but she just didn't have the energy for it...

User ImageBaum had wanted to go search for the child. Staying put was driving him nearly insane. Baum was the type after all that needed to be doing something during times when things were falling apart. However he had been helping some one at the time and he didn't want to just drop them to run off. So now he was here trying not to have another break down. He wad trying not to let his thoughts taken him over again.

He didn't know any one that had gone with the group but he generally believed he was a good person. So when they had been gone two hours he started to worry. However freshlings could be the most tricky people, especially if the freshling missing was anything like his friends Pherein and Kieran. So he wasn't that worried about them yet. His current attention was more aimed at the ones that had come in injured. It was almost like a bad horror movie. Chewing on his bottom lip he got up and walked over towards one of the people he had seen talking with Ms. Yuki.

" is there anything I can do to help? Get you something to drink or something?"
Baum said nervously.

It seemed that everyone had grown quiet. While the first lull hadn't caught Lawven, this second lull in action was taking over her senses. Relaxing, the bakeneko stood up and stretched, a plushie clutched in each hand. I'm hungry... and thirsty.

She heard a Junior speaking near and elf, and decided that they were the best two to approach about her issue.

"Hey! I'm hungry. Get me some food and water."

The time down in the bunker was really wearing on him. Usually he was pretty good at at least making an effort to be nice, but his social mask was failing fast. This would probably be the ultimate test of whether Foras could put up with him uncensored or not. He didn't really want to eat anything, but accepted the snack from Ava anyway. Better to have something in his stomach to fuel him than nothing at all, just in case things got worse. Which, at this point, he was sure they were.

He watched as the injured survivors were rounded up and taken to Yuki's medical area. It was all so... weird. And not normal. "...I don't know, if that woman was telling the truth it was magical corruption, wasn't it?" He frowned, mulling it over... "And you know, that sort of thing spreads. People go infertile from magical diseases." He very much wanted to get out of his bunker and away from the survivors at this point. Whatever they had, he definitely didn't want it. "They don't look like they're getting any better."

Suddenly all the survivors were being brought over. Jericho was admittedly a little worried about being so close to them, but... it wasn't their fault they were sick and, well... not getting better. He watched as Yuki tried and failed to use some healing magic on one of them. That couldn't be good... He didn't even know that there were such things as wounds that magic couldn't heal. Surely she'd figure it out and they'd all be okay by the end of this. He had to keep positive- or he'd start shutting down again.

Foras snacked absentmindedly at the crackers Ava had given him. He was pretty hungry actually, they had been down here for quite some time. You might call them the late night munchies. He spent a lot of hours working late into the night and he could never get through that without a snack of some kind.

He was watching the survivors as well and listening to Gany carefully. It was strange that it seemed they weren't getting any better at all. They had a magical healer after all, surely they should have been getting better. At least not acting sick the way they were. What if it was some kind of disease that could be spread? They wouldn't go crazy right? Surely, they'd at least stay themselves even if they turned...into something.

"That...certainly is concerning. This is starting to feel more like a trap" He certainly didn't want to catch whatever it was. He still planned on living a full life. There was no telling what a disease like that could do to someone.

Kiera had managed to doze off for a moment, and it took them repeating the announcement for the sick to come forward twice before she realized they were talking to her. She looked around and realized that the party for the lost child had left while she dozed- not that she was in any position to go with.

Making her way slowly over to the nurse she took stock of herself. Shock was wearing off, though her wound was strangely a bit numb now. She could tell she was spiking a fever, and her nausea seemed to be coming in waves. The body aches were consistent though.

Reaching the nurse she held out her poorly bandaged left forearm and allowed the nurse to remove the bandage to look at the wound. Being a medical student Kiera quickly gave the nurse the run down on her symptoms. “Defensive bite wound to the forearm, heavy bleeding slowing now. Fever and body aches setting in. Nausea intermittent in waves. Odd symptom is numbness at wound site. Basic first aid done to bite site to triage it, haven’t taken anything for the fever.”

What she didn’t say was how scared she was. She had seen Yuki treating some of the others, and the fact that she pulled out the first aid kit was a bit frightening. What about magic? But Kiera knew better than to ask, for fear of worrying the others.

“I am moderately trained in giving first aid, I am studying to be a healer/medic myself at Leviathan. I would offer to help treat others, but as I only have the one good arm Im not sure what I can do. However I do have another full stocked first aid kit with me…” She gestured at her bag as she trailed off. She met the nurses eyes with her own gaze, silently saying she knew magic wouldn’t work and that they were in trouble.

Arabelle heard the footsteps and murmurs of conversation all around her, but she wasn't paying it any attention anymore. Her gaze had unfocused a little and she was just drifting. Then a pair of feet entered her line of sight, and she was asked a question.

She looked up, taking note of another Chimera in front of her. The wings were a little weird though. Was she hallucinating? Also what was with all the Chimera today? They usually didn't talk to her in everyday life, but now she was getting a lot of offers of assistance from them. Maybe the bite was making her attract them somehow. The thought was quite amusing to her, even though she knew it was just her injured and fatigued state making it seem so.

Before she could answer a little freshling wandered over and issued a demand to the junior. Were they here together?

"'S not a nice was to ask a favor," she reprimanded, slurring her words just a little. She tried to recall her focus from where it had been drifting, and looked back at the junior. "But yes, water would probably be nice." She sighed. "I'm not really feeling thirsty, but I should probably drink something. Thank you."

The words that were meant to be comforting seemed strange to Enomu. The people eaters had already won. If flitterrats could find them, then the people eaters definitely could. They were monsters, just like in the stories and Enomu still wasn't sure if his decoy was going to work. He gripped the necklace under his shirt and wished he could remember his Mama's words so he could protect himself better.

Still, he knew the words were well-intentioned, and so he nodded. He had a hiding spot and he would definitely stay close to it. He had Shiroi positioned so the stuffed toy could work as a decoy. He had done everything he could do and while he wanted to curl into the hiding place now, he could try and redeem himself to the Nine a little bit and be good to others as long as was safe to do so. "....Thank you." He said sincerely. It was nice to have someone care.

User ImageThe Elf in front of him looked really bad. He really did hate this situation. So what if the government had been a screw up. Was it really worth hurting innocent people for some revenge thing? He had noticed Ms. Yuki struggling. Would they die from some unknown illness this bite was causing. who had the right to do this. He was so ridiculously angry. however there wasn't an outlet in this bunker for his anger so he needed to brush it off and focusing on what he could do.

He didn't quite expect the Bakeneko freshling that just sort of popped up. Still he was quite familiar with the behavior. Heavens knew the twins were like that some times. Hell even Kadali was like that sometimes. With a chuckle and a shake of his head he pulled two water bottles out of his back pack handing one to the elf and the other to the bakeneko. He might also sill have that bag of chips. Ah there it was.

"Here you go. Its not the best thing to eat but its at least food" Baum replied handing it over. "ah if the bottle water doesn't cut it I can try to find something colder?"

Once reaching the bunker Sylvan had found himself a place by the wall away from the crowd as best he could. There was a lot of panic in rushing in here and although he didn't like admitting it to himself he was getting caught up in it. Overwhelmed and feeling confined within the bunker Sylvan forcefully closed his eyes and waited for his body to calm down if it could.

In doing so the past few hours of events flew by him without him really realizing what had gone on. Something about flutterbats, a group going out, and mummers of magical infections. It was only then did he pull himself out if his daze to look around at what's currently going on in the bunker.

It took him a few seconds to realize, but the room felt suddenly less confined. There were a lot of people missing leaving behind mostly children, and those who were injured had been separated from the group. Taking a deep breath the space around him felt less confined, but soon after he calmed down the guilt began to settle in.

Mumbling under his breath. "Look at me getting so caught up in my feelings. There are injured and missing people and I didn't even offer to help. Heck, there are Freshling more composed here than you. Calm down."

The group ran back towards the hidden door, banging against it as Annabelle stayed between them and the rapidly approaching hostiles. The warg shifted, a low and feral growl leaving her throat as the door was wrenched open by a concerned Ava.

"Get them inside! They're here!" Annabelle shrieked as the group fled inside the room. Ava stepped outside, grabbing a few injured and hurriedly pushing them past the door before turning towards Annabelle.

        "Come inside!"
        "It's too late!"

Just as those words left the grimm's mouth the hostiles were on her, a selected few slipping past the overwhelmed warg and headed straight towards the door. Ava stepped backwards into the doorway, hand frozen on the door.

        "GET INSIDE."

Ava hesitated, hands trembling on the door handle. "But you-" She was cut off as someone lunged towards the door. Her eyes slamming shut as she forced the door to close before the attacker could enter, the loud sound of its slam vibrating through the hall. She rose her hands, muttering soft words as the door seemed to melt into the wall, vanishing completely. Where it once was stood was now just wall.

Her hands lowered, mouth trembling as she watched the wall. It didn't last long, the sound of the lost freshling shuffling caught her attention. Her head turned sharply towards the group, eyes narrowing.

        They needed to go inside.

"We'll tend to your wounds when we return to the group." Ava quietly murmured, hands tightening at her side. "Lets go."

With several members of the search party injured, it took some time to make it back to the bunker. Ava maintained a vigilant watch for any signs of hostiles approaching, and frequently stopped to listen carefully.

The group arrived down the long hall and into the underground bunker, where Yuki met them with a concerned gasp. Ava was quiet, giving little information at first as Yuki began to fret over those hurt. All she offered at first was that she needed time to word what had occurred. Finally, after Yuki had finished examining the lost freshling she stepped forward.

"As you all know, Below has been sent into a state of emergency." Ava began, voice firmer than it had been just a few minutes before. "I believe I know the reason why, now." Her head trailed to the ascending hall, mouth tight when her gaze returned to the group.

"A group of people have broken into the Academy and attacked those who were attempting to find the child. While the group fled back in here, and as you can see they even returned with the child, Annabelle stayed behind to ensure the hostiles did not enter here." She paused, hands folding into one another. "We could not bring her inside safely."

        What to Do:
The search party has returned after successfully finding the missing child... but at what cost? Many of the people who left the bunker are now injured. Your characters can attempt to find out if they saw who - or what - attacked them, or guide the newly injured people to Yuki's medical station.

The survivors from the safehouses and university that were injured are beginning to feel irritable and weak, but cannot reason why. Yuki still cannot do much other than keep an eye on their wounds.

While your characters are welcome to question the returning search party, Ava cannot give much information, as she wasn't outside.

The next update will be posted 1/28
