The guy yelped and caught his charred pokemon as it was sent flying back at him, looking down at it with a crestfallen expression. Mel almost felt a bit bad about that one, but... the guy did offer to start. And he had just challenged her after she destroyed the gym. It was kind of a cocky move, on his part. "Oh man," he groaned, shifting his defeated pokemon into one arm, "That's brutal..." He frowned, recalling his pokemon, and tucking the ball away to get another one. "Well now, if that's how you're going to do it, then let's fight fighting with fighting!" he decided, pulling out his next pokeball and tossing it up in the air.
Mel's eyes flashed as a Timburr was released, and a smirk crossed her face. "Hey now," she chided, lifting a finger up while reaching back, "You never said I had to only use one pokemon." The guy's eyes widened and he stopped, taking a half step back in a flinch as she grabbed another pokeball. Her smirk relaxed into a lackadaisical grin, however, and she withdrew her hand. "But I think I'll let Lucy handle this all the same," she decided, and the pokemon grinned, her eyes flashing as the flame on her tail flared up.

At this point, the guy seemed pretty thoroughly devastated at his loss, though she had to give him credit that he wasn't being a sore loser. "Man you really are tough... I don't think either of my remaining pokemon could do much against your monferno..." he admitted. She smiled a bit. "Well, here's a tip-- they key is speed. That's why Viola wasn't able to even make a dent, because Lucy was faster than either of her pokemon. But, I'll tell you what-- you promise not to murder it, and I'll use my lower leveled pokemon. Sound fair?" she offered. The guy straightened up, and his grin was back in place. "You've got a deal!" he agreed.

Smiling, the guy conceded defeat as he returned his last pokemon. "Guess that didn't do me much good, but at least my pokemon didn't suffer overkill," he admitted, giving a short little laugh as he rubbed the back of his neck. Mel offered him a sympathetic smile, one hand on her hip as she stepped forward. "Sorry mate. It was a pretty good battle, though. I'd say you might want to train up a bit 'fore challengin' Viola, though," she remarked, offering her hand. He nodded a bit, and reached out to shake it, but paused, tilting his head with a bit of a curious smile.
"Yeah, good idea... Hey, can I get your number? My name's Jeromy, by the way," he commented. Mel raised her eyebrows and gave him a bit of a look. "That's a weird way to pick up chicks, guy," Brian commented, looking amused from where he stood, his arms crossed over his chest. Jeromy flashed him a grin as he withdrew his hand. "That's not why I'm asking! I want to battle again. In the future, after I've trained some more," he explained, looking back at Mel. The Brit tilted her head, then glanced back at Brian, before ultimately shrugging her arms otu to the side. "I... suppose so. I certainly wouldn't mind another battle in the future," she decided, then reached out her hand, "Here. Give me your tech, I'll enter my information," she offered.

Once her contact information was in there, Mel smiled and handed the device back to Jeromy. "Heh, awesome! I'll send you a message so you have my info too!" he commented, quickly typing out a text and sending it. She felt her messager buzz and pulled it out to register his contact information. "Oh and hey, before I forget..." Reaching into his bag, Jeromy searched around, tongue sticking out in concentration before he grinned again, and produced an odd sort of contraption to hand to her. "Here! You said that last pokemon was your weakest, right? You should give it this. It makes it so even when your other pokemon do battling, it still gains some experience. I'm using it to get that miltank of mine stronger, too," he explained.
Mel blinked, looking at it, and hesitantly reaching for it. "Oh, wha... Are you sure?" she asked, looking at him in surprised. He nodded enthusiastically. "Hell yeah! I want you and your pokemon tough when I come back to beat ya," he replied, giving a playful wink. She smirked and rolled her eyes, but nodded as he stepped back. "Speaking of, I should probably go heal them," he admitted, his expression turning boyishly sheepish, before he gave a wave, and headed off.

Mel examined the object curiously a moment, then smiled, and crouched down next to Phia. "Well, girl, apparently I have something to give you," she commented with a smile, holding out the object. The sember stared at her, then floated forward a bit, scooping the exp share onto her head, and producing... a root? Mel blinked and looked down at it, before reaching to pick it up and give it a questioning look. "She must have already been holding that," Brian commented, walking over with his arms still folded, "Pokemon can only hold one item at a time." Mel blinked and looked up at him, then straightened up.
"Really?" she remarked in surprise, then looked at the root again, "Huh... Well, alright then. I'll give this back to her once the exp thingy has done it's magic." She flashed a smile to Phia, then looked at her curiously. "You know, I wonder if I could get some more of those heartscale things..." she commented. Phia could probably use a bit more of an upgrade to her moveset than she had given her... She shook her head a bit, and flashed a smile. "Well, at any rate, we should probably go to the pokecenter too. Let everyone get some refreshment and relaxation."

Brian sucked air in through his teeth, and Mel came to a very abrupt stop just as she started to head to the pokecenter. She turned, giving her friend a look. "Really, Brian," she started, this time just annoyed, "You're going to have to get over this! At least for the Nurse Joys around the world! They're pretty much everywhere, and we're going to be seeing a lot of them." Brian frowned, hanging his head a bit and looking back at her. "I know that," he muttered, "I just..."
Mel looked at him, and, after a moment, her expression softened, and she reached out to take his hand in hers. "Just relax, alright? You won't have to interact with her or anything," she reassured him. He still looked reluctant, but she could see it in his expression-- he was relenting. She gave him another smile, then nodded her head. "Come on. We can head right back out of the city for some more training after," she promised.

It was a difficult trip into the pokecenter, with Brian resisting the whole way, and freezing up once they were actually inside. Mel had to leave him by the doorway, his back pressed against the wall, his eyes locked onto the floor. She had a feeling his vision was slowly fading to black and, honestly, she wasn't reeeaaaally sure he was breathing properly, so she kept Z by him, just in case. She went over to heal all her other pokemon, however, letting Lucy stay out of her pokeball, but temporarily recalling Phia for the procedure, and returning to use a few potions to freshen up Z. The whole ordeal took a few minutes, but once she had her pokemon gathered together, she quickly swept back over, helped push Brian out, and headed back to the edges of the city.
"So you said Cyllage, right?" she asked, trying to shake Brian out of the panic he still seemed a little locked into. He shifted, then nodded, reaching a hand up to push his fingers through his hair, and try and pull himself out of it. "Y-yeah, um... Or Geosenge. I'm not really sure which," he replied distractedly. He took a deep breath, and Mel eyed him as she released Phia again, and let her pokemon go and try to train. Well, Lucy mostly, with Phia trailing along to watch. Instead of wild pokemon, however... they found another team of pokemon. One that was very ready to fight, despite their trainer being equally distracted, if not more so.

Busy, with... another trainer, that is. Behind the bushes. Another trainer who's pokemon, despite having just witnessed the utter destruction of their friends, decided it was a good idea to also try and take on Lucy. In a swarm they attacked, but she, very quickly, brought them all down. The end result was... not pretty, though Phia apparently found it rather amusing. A field of bodies, pokemon dizzy eyed, either unconscious or stumbling, barely on their feet. Ah, yes... she was apparently very entertained by it. Not that it was very easy to tell, given her... distinct lack of facial features. "Aren't you interested in battling?" Lucy queried curiously, tilting her head as she turned to focus at the other fire pokemon. Phia gazed sharply back at her. "... Not yet," she answered quietly. Lucy tilted her head the way. While Lucy ditched the loser crowd she'd essentially beat up (in self defense!) and Phia (cackling a bit) followed, Brian and Mel settled in near the same area as before. Mel was looking at Brian with a bit of a mixed sympathetic look; she was torn on continuing the discussing of the next gym, or bringing up the little... episode he'd just had. Sometimes she got so caught up being annoyed -- or... finding it funny -- she sort of forgot it was a serious, honest fear. She didn't feel bad, per se, when she made light of it, because Brian did too, but sometimes she needed to remember that forcing him into those situations could cause him to seize up and have a panic attack. It had been bad before. He made it through this one alright, but... She sighed, but decided not to press the subject, for now.
"So... do you know what sort of gym it is, then? I'm sure we can find out where it is back in Santalune or somewhere in Lumoise," she commented, pulling her knees up to wrap her arms loosely around them and clasp her hands together on the other side. Brian shrugged a bit, his legs splayed out with his hands behind him to keep him up, his gaze turned to the sky. "Rock, I think..." he commented absently.

Mel looked at him with a frown. He definitely wasn't focused on the conversation. She leaned forward, resting her chin on her knees, looking over at him from the corner of her eye. Z stood on his other side, apparently looking out over the garden-like path, but she had a feeling he was listening in, too. "Brian..." she started, lifting her head up. "Hm?" He raised his eyebrows and glanced over at her, then shifted and straightened up, before leaning forward. "Do you know who you're going to use?" Mel quirked an eyebrow and gave him a look. She couldn't tell if he was dodging the subject, or sincerely oblivious. Either way, after a moment she relented, and with a sigh, leaned back on her hands. "I dunno," she decided, "Maybe Blue? I can't remember if Rock is weak to fighting or not..." she admitted.

Brian seemed to quirk an eyebrow. "I think it is..." he remarked, rubbing a hand along his jaw as he contemplated it. Mel smiled a little, then shook her head and laid back, stretching her arms up above her head with her legs crossing at the ankle. She noticed Brian turn his head slightly, and smiled a bit wryly. "Brian.""What??" She shook her head a little, still smiling, but relaxing a bit. Honestly, she had caught Brian staring at her before. She was positive it wasn't really in an attracted or lustful sort of way -- especially after so many events in their past -- but... The poor guy. She was pretty sure he was straight and yet he couldn't even get near a woman. Talk about being repressed. She didn't really mind, but she couldn't help poking him for it now and then. And at least he seemed to be over his little episode earlier, for the most part.

Meanwhile, Lucy was on the hunt for more trainers. She swung herself up onto a hedge to get some better perspective, while Phia hungrily eyed the shrubbery. "See any signs of any more trainers? It felt kinda nice taking them on in a group like that," she commented. Phia eyed one of the other edges a ways off, catching a few glimpses of some pokemon playing. "... There appear to be some over there. You could request a battle with them..." she replied slowly. Lucy turned, looking over, and perking up as she spotted them. She jumped down, and quickly bound over, with her little fire friend following at a slower pace. Lucy would be lucky if she was able to continue finding weak groups like this that were willing to let her pummel them, but... for now, Phia would support it all she could. It was giving her... quite the surge of power every time she took them down.

Unfortunately, Phia's assumption was right. Lucy's latest battle mates had accepted the chance for battle, but their trainer wasn't nearly as happy when he noticed the fight going on without him. He chased Lucy off, and the monferno, with a squeak and a yelp, quickly escaped through the bushes, with Phia following along-- though not before sending an ember attack back at the guy. They disappeared through some of the edges and to the other side of the path before stopping, and deflating a bit. Lucy slumped onto the ground, breathing a sigh and taking the chance to catch her breath. "Perhaps you should focus on wild pokemon..." the sember suggested, though her natural tone made it hard to tell whether she was being cynical, mocking, sarcastic, or sincere in her suggestion. Lucy didn't seem to take offense, though, and just nodded. "Y-yeah.... good idea," she agreed warily. She... she was actually starting to get kind of tired here, though...

But not so tired as to give up! Lucy was still determined to keep up the fight, though she was considering making her way back towards Mel soon. Phia seemed to catch on and narrowed her eyes, but didn't protest. She wasn't the one doing the heavy hitting, after all, but... the pooowerrrrr.... Lucy stretched her arms over her side, then twisted this way, then that... The sember watched her move about, her [removed](what expression existed, that was) as unreadable as ever, but honestly, she was still bemused by the concept of limbs. They were... strange. And Lucy had so many of them. Evidently, though, they must come in handy, because she was using them in almost every battle she'd fought so far.

Meanwhile, Mel was very much getting close to falling asleep. Brian, however, was still awake, though he was spacing out a bit, with one arm propped up on his leg, his knees pulled up, and his chin resting in his hand. His other arm was wrapped about his leg, but he straightened up and drew his arms back to rest his hands on his legs when he noticed a figure striding towards them. It was starting to get a bit dark, so it was sort of hard to tell, but... yep! Yeah the person was definitely heading towards them. "Mel," he mtutered, reaching over to smack his friends arm, "Hey Mel, wake up!" She stirred, then jerked awake, making a few half awake noises as she looked around. Just in time, too, as the man approached, glaring between the two of them.
"Are either've yew the owner've the dill Monny that's runnin' around?" he snapped. Mel blinked, snapping awake, and shook her head, leaning back. The hell was that accent. "'Monny'? You mean... monferno?" she asked, pushing herself up, narrowing her eyes at him a bit. She was starting to get the very distinct impression this guy was out for a confrontation. "I take it that means its yers, sheila?" he questioned, stepping closer. Mel straightened up and rolled her shoulders, glaring back at him, but saying nothing. "Because if it is," the guy continued, jabbing a finger at her shoulder, "Then you need to put a bloody leash on it." Mel sneered and shoved him back to get her space, then folded her arms over her chest. "Why? You sour 'cause she beat your pokemon in a battle or somethin'?" she asked back.
