"Just because I'm not a liar by trade doesn't mean I can't tell when someone else is lying." Van said with a smug expression. "You were worried about me, weren't you?"

"I told you, I-I was-was-wasn't!" Mala continued to bluff stubbornly, getting rather embarassed by this.

"You don't have to be so shy about it." Van said simply, making no further effort to tease her as he folded his hands behind his head and leaned back against a tower of crates behind him. "I....kind of appreciate the thought really...Most people wouldn't even think to worry about a god, what with the whole immortality deal...even if I am technically mortal right now and this body's just a loan."

Mala's blush grew all the brighter as she gave up and said what she did. "...As long as you're mortal, you should remember to take care of yourself. I won't forgive you if you get yourself seriously hurt or killed so easilly."

"Cut me some slack, I'm not used to the whole mortality thing, remember?" Van said with a chuckle, deciding not to point out to Mala that she told him to be careful with no mention of her brother for once.

"I know. But still." Mala said, offering a sheepish smile as she reluctantly gazed at Van. "Looks like we both have plenty to get used to, huh?" she mused.

Van nodded. "Hopefully I'll be outta here before we have to." he said looking out at the ocean thoughtfully before quickly remembering his seasickness and looking away.

Mala nodded. "True." she agreed. She stood there silently for a couple more moments before she asked, "Would it help if we went down to one of the lower decks?"

"Probably...As much as I prefer fresh air to anything, I'd rather be inside than nauseous." Van said standing up and headed for the lower deck.

"Very well." Mala said, making sure to hold the door open for Van so that he could go down to the lower decks a little quicker.

"For your brother's sake, never take him on a boat ride. Ever." Van said as he collapsed in a chair below deck.

Mala chuckled. "That's a good idea." she said, leaning against the wall across from where Van sat.

Van chuckled a bit when a thought came to mind. "You realize you're going to be the first person to see a god in person, right? Once I get my body back of course."

"Really? I would've thought that there are far prettier women who've seen the gods up close in the past." Mala said, smiling broadly. "Or at least, there are dubious 'prophets' who have claimed as such in the past. So...were they lying out of their teeth?" she asked with much interest.

"Sorta. We just kinda whisper stuff in their ears which they usually blow out of proportion." Van said. "Like the god of the hunt, the one with lousy marksmanship. He was in a bad mood once and demanded the first hunter he found bring him a big kill. A month later, a small warrior tribe had sprung up, shrine and all, and started making annual offerings to the guy." he said with a laugh.
