Well, according to that list, there's not reflect, but there is silence and paralyze.
And anyway I'm fairly certain I've play a FF game where the red mages had refect.

*checks* In XII International, yes, Red Mages can use Reflect.
Ouch. Silence is even worse, though. That's practically an instant win for the red mage. Of course, if you have a black mage from IX, s/he may have the Loudmouth ability equipped...
Aughh, if you count that, though, you have to factor in Auto-Reflect, Reflect-Null and Reflectx2, as well. That's getting confusing; maybe those shouldn't count.

My opinion is based on the original FF Tactics...the damage that Ramza could do as an unarmed monk was massive, equip him with the "two swords" skill, and he would do 2 unarmed punches for 400-500 damage per punch with a high brave stat. At a high level, he would have powerful AoE & Ranged attack skills as well. Monks also have abilities to heal HP & MP, resurrect, and cure status effects.Any ninja (or any other class) would die in one hit. The most powerful monsters & bosses would die in 2 hits. Ninja's had weak defense and very little HP. Their attack power was based on the "throw" ability and you would have to sacrifice expensive or powerful weapons in order to do a ton of damage, which was still less than what a monk Ramza could do in one punch. One or two blows from a powerful character (like a monk or a strong melee monster) or a really strong spell would be instant defeat.

Honestly, I'd say this one's an even match. I'm going off of my experience with FF Tactics: the War of the Lions. I have a character that has the Ninja and Monk jobs both mastered, and she does a lot of damage with both. She can hit for about 240 a shot with ninja swords, and goes about 280-300 with punches. she'd be able to heal herself with Chakra as a monk, but the ninja often does more damage overall. I'm totally torn on this one, but I seriously think it's about even...

Ugh, I never used monks ever, so I don't feel entirely qualified to judge this one. I'm leaning toward monk, but I'll just have to think on it for a little.

I think I'm just going with monk by what Soujii said; it was pretty convincing. I wish I had my own argument, though. v_v

To me, ninjas feel a little 'over-rated' (no thanks to Naruto...), and I don't know what a 'Tie' is.... so I'm going for a monk... plus they keep reminding me of those bald-headed guys with those relaxed postures... biggrin

Ninjas are overrated, I hate Naruto and ninja reminds me of Naruto. I like monk cause of the Avatar...but nonetheless, I voted for Ninja for some reason...I know, don't ask me I have nooo idea why I did that. (probably cause ninjas got shuriken and monks got....budhhist power??)

People! There were plenty of ninja around before Naruto! Final Fantasy ninja being among them!
Also, this is supposed to be a battle thread, not a popularity contest.

I think ninja would win, mostly because any encounter between these to seems to be ninja ambush. fight over
