"Lets mix it up and raise your defense Cranidos! Use your Standstorm blow that Stun Spore away!" Roark called with a grin as he slipped his goggles down over his glasses to ensure that he wouldn't get hurt. Before the Sandstorm could start a Geodude popped up with a pair of goggles and handed them over to Katie for safety. He handed them off just in time as the Cranidos let out a small roar as a whirl of sand started to come up as if summoned from nowhere. Soon the arena seemed to be just a bunch of floating rocks and a huge sandstorm contained in the once seemingly large gym.

Hearing that it was a baby Onix Dante couldn't help but feel a bit stupid. Of course it was a baby Onix why else would it be so small? "Ah, well that makes sense." He commented hoping the other's didn't catch up on his embarrassment. Glad that Jason changed the subject to the tall blond womans, who he thought had been called Cynthia a few times, pokemon. "You are a pretty good artist. It would be interesting to see more of your drawings." Dante commented not really thinking of anything else to do.
~~~~~~~
Running around on the deck Robin wondered where the heck she could find Luffy. She had passed Kasiya and Jason, Cynthia and the other guy a few times but she hadn't seen Luffy yet! He could be practically anywhere knowing him. Letting out a frustrated growl she rubbed her temples as she tried to think of where the heck Luffy would possibly go.
As she racked her mind a thought came to her as she remembered Luffy's namesake anime and where he usually went. Figuring that it was as good a place as any to look, that and she hadn't been there yet herself she decided to head to the front of the ship to see if her partner was there.
Riza giggled happily and turned to look at the older man as he offered to get her Pokemon healed. "Oh, yes, that would be greatly appreciated, thank you," she said, unhooking Akima's poke ball from her bet and recalling her. The Sneasel had been showing off to Froslass and Eris, but she was quite tired so she wasn't overly annoyed to be called back. When Akima had vanished Eris let out a squeal when she realized she was left alone with the strange ghost-type Pokemon and she rushed over to Riza and pawed at her leg, wanting very much to be picked up. Riza couldn't ignore the young Pokemon's request and she scooped up the Cyndaquil in her arms and cuddled her. "I hope you were a good girl for Shiro," she said.
Eris nodded. "Quil!" she cried, wiggling excitedly. There was a sizzling sound and her back erupted into flame.
Riza quickly held her back so as not to get burned, and she laughed. "You sure are energetic," she said, looking over at Ken and Jaeshan, who were also standing nearby. She was glad her first gym battle had ended well and that she put on a good show for everyone, but she couldn't help but wish that it had been a contest ribbon she was competing for. 'Gym battles are fun and different but they're still not quite what I want to do,' she thought, though she did like the idea of being able to show off a full set of contest ribbons and gym badges. After all there was no rule about a trainer not being able to do both. * * * * * "Oh, why thank you very much," Katie said, accepting the goggles the Geodude had handed her. She quickly put them on with only a moment to spare as soon the gym was filled with howling winds and blustering sand. The girl groaned mentally as she knew that when this battle was over she'd need a shower to get all the sand that would inevitably find its way into her hair. Seraphim frowned and brought up a rosy hand to shield her eyes from the sands, and she winced as the tiny particles dug into her body. Katie couldn't help but wonder if she should have trained with the Roselia a bit more before they challenged the gym as the Cranidos was already proving to be a bit of a nuisance.
"Okay Seraphim, try your poison sting," Katie said after a moment or two of thought. The sandstorm stung against her arms and legs but she tried not to let it bother her. After all being able to concentrate under such harsh conditions was an important skill for trainers to have. The Roselia hopped forward and raised her arms up. Katie thought she saw a small purple glow from around the flower's neck as she unleashed a barrage of glowing poisoned needles at the Cranidos. Katie knew the attack wouldn't do much damage but she knew there was a good chance that Cranidos could get poisoned by it.
Surge just looked down at Crenu as he spoke and laughed heartily. "Alrighty then, Crenu," he said, nodding as the elderly gentleman made his way to the back office to get treatment for the six Pokemon. He did like the straight-forward way that the boy spoke, as he remained respectful, and there was no arrogance in his voice. "I'll give you a good battle, son, so long as you promise to do the same for me, all right?" Interestingly enough, Surge seemed to have lost his normally condescending attitude, as when he called Crenu 'son' it hadn't been in a patronizing or insulting way. Perhaps it had been his loss to Riza or perhaps he was just having an off-day.
It only took a few moments for Mr Reid to heal the Pokemon and he returned quite promptly. He gave Surge back his three Pokemon before making his way over to Riza, smiling at the energetic Cyndaquil. "Here you are, Miss Riza," he said. "Your Pokemon are all in great condition."
"Pika pika chuu," Pikachu said happily. He seemed to have taken a liking to the raven-haired girl, and he waved at Eris in a friendly manner.
"So Reid, you up for refereeing another match?" Surge asked, tossing one of the Pokeballs up and down in a rhythmic motion.
Reid nodded as his Pikachu scooted back up onto his shoulder. "Yes, Lieutenant, I believe we can manage." The electric mouse nodded eagerly, but that might have been just because he enjoyed waving the flag around.
"All right, let's do this then," Surge said before taking his normal position on the battlefield. "Since my last match was a three on three, this one will be a one on one," he said. "My Pokemon will be Raichu, of course," he said as he released the ever-ready Electric-type. Raichu rubbed his paws together and punched the air. Battling with that Sneasel before had him all riled up and now that he was feeling energized again, he was ready for another go. "Send out your Pokemon, Crenu, and we'll begin. You already know what's at stake."
Jaeshan retreated back to the bleachers, not at all surprised about the second battle that was about to take place. Truth be told he was quite interested to see how Crenu battled as he'd seen him a few times now and he still didn't know much about him. He'd heard of Ecruteak City in Johto, namely due to the Tin Tower, but he'd never been there. "This ought to be good too," he said to Riza and Ken once the two had joined him on the sidelines. Even though he was a trainer now too, he still enjoyed watching battles of all kinds.
=-=-=-=-= "I wouldn't say he's tiny for his age either," Cynthia commented. "Atlas looks quite healthy to me, and I bet he'll be full-sized and quite strong in no time." She glanced over at Dante, having missed his momentary embarrassment and nodded towards him. "Hello Dante, it's nice to meet you," she said. "I am Cynthia." She looked back at Jason. "Yes, I will show you my Pokemon, but I think it would be best if we waited until everyone has settled down. It's not that my Pokemon or ill-behaved or anything, but I do not want to cause a commotion. Dante is right though, your drawing skills are quite incredible. Please tell me, have you taken courses or had professional training?"
"Knowing him," Sasha continued, retaining that sort of admiring sparkle in her eyes. "It was full of fire and dramatic explosions!" She sighed dreamily. Kasiya was right that he could take care of himself, but that was the very thing that worried her; maybe he was a bit too good at protecting himself. The girl shuddered at her little cadet's burn wounds, as well as that one girl that just took a jet-stream of flames up her entire arm. She hoped that no one was seriously hurt by Mike's undoubtedly...excessive escape.
Despite Kasiya's calming assertion that Mike was probably okay, one thing bothered Sasha about the girl's tone concerning his condition. The two were practically inseparable when she last saw them, and she didn't seem too worried about him, even with the severity of his disappearance. I mean hell, Mike grabbed her specifically when he bolted, so they still must be close. Sasha narrowed her eyes at the blonde. "There's something you're not telling me, Kas." she eyed her friend accusingly. "Our friend had a complete mental meltdown, was involved in some bad stuff, and you're not stressing about it at all. What's the deal?" The very thought of the once cute and selfless boy's now haunting laughter sent shivers up her spine; why was Kasiya, as good of a friend to Mike as anyone, so calm about it all? "So what's the deal?" Sasha leaned in expectantly.
"Eh? Raichu again? Alright then, I was hoping for something new...but I trust you know what you're doing. If it's gonna be a one on one then there won't be any room for mistakes...I like it." Crenu stared down his opponent once he got into position for the battle, his losing streak had to end here. What pokemon to choose though, out of his six he only had a few real contenders. He would have loved nothing more than to send out Poliwhirl or Spearow to pull out a win with a disadvantage, his eye catchign the banners he had put up with the big red "X" over the pokemon. But Spearow was still to young for a battle like this and Poliwhirl had gotten a crack at the last gym. When taking his last performance into consideration letting Poliwhirl fight again didn't seem like a good idea to Crenu, and besides that he'd been using Poliwhirl a lot lately it seemed, Ariados as well. He liked to rotate his pokemon so the only choices were Pupitar and Swinub, Pupitar hadn't seen action in a while and Swinub hadn't seen action at all. As much as he knew he could count on Pupitar Crenu decided that he needed to find out what Swinub was made of, even if this wasn't exactly the best time to do so. He had faith in the little guy though, Kenneth was a good trainer even if he didn't like to admit it. "Frosslass, go watch with the others." He said plainly as the Snow Land pokemon hovered up from the ground. She was embarrassed that she had stayed hidden like that even after Akime tried to befriend her, so much for being tougher and more confident now. She nodded though and floated on back to the bleachers to watch. Crenu shifted his focus back on Surge and unclipped Swinub's pokeball, tossing it out in front of him and letting the little brown fuzzball took shape. Swinub just sniffed aroudn a bit, not at all concerned with the battle at hand if seemed. But when he appeared satisfied with the gym's smell he looked up, his ever closed eyes locked on to Raichu who looked ready for a fight. But Swinub wasn't scared or even riled up, he was very calm and tranquil, much like Crenu. "Swinub will be my choice. Ready when you are Surge."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Ah ha ha, you guys are to kind." Jason scratched his head feeling a bit embarrassed at such praise. He didn't think he was that great yet. "No, no courses. I just draw what I see, trying to get every detail as clearly as I can, you know? I mean you can't make observations off of a messy scribble or anything. I've been ding it forever, ever since I decided to be a researcher. All the pictures and illustrations in the pokemon books have such nice clear diagrams and such, I just tried to draw like them I guess. You guys really like them? I mean I've got a whole bunch in here, I would take notes on all the pokemon I saw at the daycare center near my home town." He said softly as he took out his pad to show them. "Sometimes I make the sketches to big though and don't have any room for writing...not that I have much to write. Guess I'm not that good a researcher yet. But I'll get there." Jason laughed nervously trying not to make a fool of himself again and took a deep breath. "Guess you're right about showing off your pokemon now, we should wait. But what do we do for now? Think they got some entertainment on this vessel?"
Riza was still thinking about the differences between contests and gym battles as the nice old man with the Pikachu returned her three Pokemon and she thanked him. The flames on Eris' back died down and she waved at the Pikachu. She liked how his tail was all jagged like lightning and she turned her head around, letting out a small, disappointed sigh when she realized that she didn't have a tail. She nuzzled her head up against Riza's chest and yawned, a little sleepy. She knew there was another battle about to begin and as much as she wanted to watch it, she also wanted to curl up in Riza's lap and have a nice nap.
With some difficulty Riza managed to get the poke balls back onto her belt and she shifted the sleepy Cyndaquil in her arms before she rushed over to Crenu. "Show him how it's done," she whispered in his ear before she planted a lingering kiss on his cheek and then skipped over to join Ken and Jaeshan in the bleachers. "I think you're right, Jae," she said, nodding. "I think this is going to be a very good match." She hadn't seen the Swinub before and though he was a cute one, it reminded her of home and particularly the Ice Path that lied east of her hometown. 'I wonder if I should go back some day, I wonder if they miss me?' she thought, thinking of the Pokemon that lived within the cavern. She'd befriended many Pokemon and she often wondered if she should go back and see them again. Maybe some of them would want to travel around with her. She smiled and leaned back in her seat, eager for the battle to begin.
There were explosions, all right, Kasiya thought, closing her eyes. Not only were there explosions but there was also a lot of fire and panic and chaos, and she could still hear the sound of the alarms ringing in her ears, and when she opened her eyes again, tears had started to form and she knew she wouldn't be able to hold them back. Dammit Sasha, I was doing so well keeping a lid on those feelings but then you just had to go and pry it off! she thought, wiping her eyes with the back of her tattered glove, and she realized again just what pitiful condition her clothes were in, but that was something she'd take care of once she arrived in Sinnoh. She took a deep breath and looked over the railing at Keegan, who'd seemingly turned to stone on the ground below. She felt another pang go through her heart and she sighed - would things between her and the redhead ever be all right again? She cleared her throat, deciding that it would be best to start right at the beginning.
"Well, when Mike took me away from Slateport that night, he brought me to a hospital," she said slowly, having to force her mind to concentrate oh her words so that they came out clearly and not as a jumbled mess of gibberish. "But it wasn't just any hospital. He had Nitro bring us to... Saffron City." Her tears were flowing freely now, but she just let them go. She'd been through a lot in the past few days as well, though she knew that once she'd told Sasha everything she'd feel better. Or she hoped so, at the very least. She decided to skip the part about Mazarin chasing them, and the strange transformation Mike underwent in mid-flight, as she wasn't sure she could even begin to explain it properly. "Anyway, he dropped me off at the hospital and then he took off. I'd passed out at some point and don't remember anything else until I awoke a few hours later. I don't know how it happened but someone managed to subdue him and they brought him to the psychiatric ward of the Saffron hospital, ironically enough." She paused, not sure how else to continue, and she looked to Sasha, waiting to see if she had any questions about the story up to this point.
=-=-=-=-= "Heh," Surge scoffed, eying the brown fluff ball as it appeared on the battlefield to face Raichu. "I'd send out one of my other Pokemon, but I don't think you could handle it," he chuckled. It was true that the Pokemon he used primarily within the gym weren't as strong as some of his others, though most of them had gotten their training during the time he'd spent as a military officer. He eyed the Swinub carefully, very much aware of the fact that Raichu's electric attacks would be useless for the duration of the battle, and he shook his head. Cowardice, using Ground-types, he thought bitterly, but he always thought that whenever an opponent sent out one. He'd seen a fair share of Sandshrew and Sandslash, as well as Nidoking and the Johto-native Quagsire. The little Pig Pokemon, like the Sneasel, reminded him of his Johto days and he grinned. "Alrighty then. First move's yours," Surge said, planting his hands on his hips. Raichu nodded, his actions mimicking Surge's, though he had the added affect of having sparks flaring from his cheeks.
Unlike Riza and Surge, Jaeshan was unfamiliar with the Swinub, and so as the battle began he withdrew his PokeDex and looked up the fuzzy little critter. He wasn't surprised to see that it was part Ice-type, as the shaggy fur was a bit of a giveaway, but he hadn't expected it to have Ground-type qualities as well. "Hmm, I wonder how Surge handles Ground-types," he mumbled, closing the device and stuffing it back in his pocket. He'd been saving Nidoking for a trump card when he battled the Lieutenant a while ago, but he hadn't ended up needing to use him so he didn't know how the Gym Leader would combat his type disadvantage. We'll just have to wait and see, he thought, leaning forward intently.
Kilik blinked and the two people who were beside him were gone. Keegan headed off and Sasha bolted towards the ship. A chill went down his spine. The boat! He needed to get on board himself! As he spun around to go into the Pokemon Center, he bumped directly into his dad. "Uff!" he coughed, stumbling a bit, grasping onto his dad's shoulders. He stood a lot taller than the older man, and would've fallen forward and taken both of them down had he kept going. Treecko shook her head and scrambled over to her trainer's other shoulder. Those two people disappeared quick. Did Master say something mean? She didn't recall anything of the sort. Perhaps he smelled? To make sure, the little gecko took a few good whiffs of her trainer's hair and pits, and still couldn't discover the reason as to why the red and pink haired people ran away. He smelled like oranges, really. "Hey, Dad!" the boy clapped his hands once then jabbed both thumbs over his shoulder towards the boat, "...We gotta go."
"I was wondering where you had gotten off to, boy!" Mr. Ranmo said sternly, handing over Cable's Pokeball his proper trainer. When Kilik put the ball on his belt, the two started to walk calmly towards the ship. "Now, what the man told me about my room, you take the elevator and press 4," he cleared his throat, "and then it's room 12 on that floor. Understood?" As they started to walk up the ramp, he caught glances of some of the kids he recognized. "Your friends!" he pointed to the deck of the ship, near the very front. "Say...is that Mazarin?"
Kilik's eyes immediately shot towards the front of the ship. There was no mistaking that silver hair. That was Mazarin, alright. And as usual, he was hooked on some girl. Normally, he would've let it alone, but that girl was...Mitsu! He stood up straight and started to walk up the ramp a little bit faster. "I'll catch you later, Dad!" And he broke into a run. Mazarin, you are so dead, you worthless worm! was the only thought that went through his head as he started to weave in and out of the people bustling around the ship. He stumbled over an overly-dressed woman and hopped on one foot for a few feet before falling over. Treecko swiftly moved around to Kilik's back to avoid getting hurt. She shook her head. What was getting into him? He was acting so strangely! First he's calm and collected, then running like a maniac! What was his deal? "Gah!" he stood up and brushed himself off. "If I run into him on the boat, I swear..." he clenched his fist. "Mitsu!" he called out.
Mazarin froze up and didn't even move when her hand came into contact with his face. He knew that voice anywhere. "Well, this has been fun!" he laughed, standing up. A red hand print was forming on his cheek. "We'll definitely have to get in tooooouch!" he noticed Kilik was moving closer to them and he bolted the other direction, disappearing in the crowd of people.
That was too close. Kilik would've made sure he was the pulp in his morning orange juice. That boy had sure gotten violent over the years. That, or Maz was just a wimp. He couldn't exactly figure out the proper explanation for it.
-*-
As Giovanni received the message, he was making his way downstairs to the laboratory. He could already see some video feeds that other Rockets were sending with their hidden cameras. So many eager trainers, yet he could not exactly figure which of the children were on the boat and who were staying behind. "Mai," he snapped, "Tell me the children who are going to Sinnoh and are on the boat currently. It's necessary we double-check these things." The man stood between two scientists who were managing the computer and the video feeds. Giovanni pressed a button that changed from one Rocket to the other. He growled when he saw a silver haired boy running in the crowd.
"Minus that Mazarin boy," he grumbled. "He is of no concern to us, nor is he considered a threat."
For several minutes Keegan just stood there, rooted to the spot. He could hear a lot of idle chatter around him but none of it made any sense until one clear and familiar voice called out "Mitsu!" The redhead looked up to see Kilik racing along the docks towards the ship, though when he reached the ramp his pace was cut down to a staggering crawl as there were many people to push through. Having been snapped out of his daze by Kilik's yell Keegan started looking along the line of people now boarding the ship to see if anyone else he knew would be making the trip overseas. He caught sight of what looked like a TV crew and he raised an eyebrow. "They don't have news reporters in Sinnoh?" he muttered, though when he saw the woman in deep purple he did a double-take. Wait a minute, isn't that...? He moved a little closer to the ship, trying to keep her in his sights. Without even realizing it he'd started up the boarding ramp, but the more he watched this woman the more he became convinced. It's her, I'm sure if it, he thought as he finally lost sight of her. Mai! And I bet those other three are all Rockets too. But why would she feel she had to sneak aboard the ship to Sinnoh? Unless...
By now he'd made it on board as well, but he no longer saw Mai anywhere. He shifted his backpack a little and turned sharply, bumping into a blue-haired woman and knocking her right to the ground. "Hey, watch where you're going, you jerk," she grumbled, swatting Keegan's hand away as he'd offered to help her up.
"Alright, fine, I'm sorry, geez," he muttered, glaring at her back as she stormed away. b***h, he thought angrily, though he quickly forgot about her as he continued his search. He was certain that she and the other Rockets intended on following Kasiya and the others to Sinnoh, and if that were the case he needed to warn them. The only problem was that the ship was quite large, and there were many people on board already. He was also fully aware that he was on the ship as of right now, but he had no intentions of remaining there. As soon as he found Kasiya or Kilik, he would pass along the warning and then quickly get his feet back onto dry land before the ship set sail. I wonder if this thing has a maximum capacity, he thought idly as he wandered along.
The purple headed trainer heard her name being called out as her hand came in contact with the creep's face. "Mitsu!" the voice had yelled. It had been undoubtedly Kilik's, after all who else would have yelled with such anger in their tone? Ah, thank god you're finally here Kilik, she thought to herself, rubbing her hands on her skirt. She felt like they were dirty, having been touched by Mararin's own two hands. If she had been melodramatic she would have called Kilik her savior, her knight in shining armor, or some other cliched fairy tale title for heroes. Ugh, heroes. She was done with that kind of stuff. Her hero had fallen and was probably off somewhere near fire or other copious amounts of heat that would be found irritable by the general public. . . though she did miss the boy, at least the boy she once knew. Mitsu closed her eyes for a moment, hoping that he was all right or at the very least surrounded by his Pokemon. In a sense she felt guilty for not having run after him like Kasiya had, but then the blond was being reckless as well. She shook her head. Mike would turn up again when he was ready to or dragged from his hiding place, probably fighting tooth and nail to stay holed up in a dark or dreary place.
By now, Kilik had at least pushed past the crowd and made it on board. Mitsu hadn't even realized that she'd spaced out and was once again thinking about Mike. Geez Mike. Even when you've gone crazy, even when you've run off, even though I don't have feelings for you anymore, you're still on my mind. She sighed in a naive sort of way, hoping that all their problems would just disappear and things could go back to the way they were before he snapped. But she knew that wouldn't be possible.
She maneuvered her way through the rapidly thickening crowd before reaching the tall boy she'd kept her eye on the whole time. "Hey Kilik," she said calmly looking at his angered expression. "I see you're finally on board." She paused, "And you don't have to look so angry, you know. He ran off. . .for some odd reason." She looked at him, her expression turning more quizzical by the second. Why exactly did that creep run off?
Crenu flushed red for a moment as Riza suddenly planted one on him. He turned his head to look at her as she skipped over to the others and smiled a bit. "Yeah, right." He shook the thoughts going through his head out and went back to concentrating on the battle at hand, though he shot her another quick glance without thinking. Crenu wasn't sure if he was going with it to ride out these feelings until they passed, or if he was starting to actually like it, and that second thought scared him a bit. He had a goal in mind and he wanted to reach it, distractions were a luxury he couldn't afford. But then again...maybe it wasn't really so bad. Just knowing that Riza was watching made him feel like he couldn't afford to lose even more than before. He didn't want to look weak in front of anyone, but in front of her was especially unacceptable. He shifted his thoughts to the battle instead, the feeling on his cheek still lingering though as he tried to ignore it. He noticed Surge shaking his head and just smirked a bit. "I don't like the idea of using a ground type anymore than you do Surge. Personally I'd rather not, I would love to use my Pooliwhirl or even my Spearow against you. But I've a strict training schedule that must be kept and Swinub's next in the rotation. But as a gym leader and trainer of a specific type, I'm sure you're prepared for this kind of thing so it shouldn't be a one sided battle anyway. At least I hope not." He said nothing more as he thought up a few attack plans in his head, watching as the older gent's Pikachu waved the flag to start. "Swinub, Mud Slap." The calm and docile Swinub suddenly bounded forward, spewing out a thin coating of thick obscure mud at the electric foe, aiming for the Raichu's eyes. Kenneth snickered happily as he watched Riza walking over to them, a moment like that could be eaten up it was so sweet! But what was important right now was the battle. Froslass had hovered over to him and had settled down behind him, watching intently as her trainer battled the same mighty mouse that had been shooting lightning at the nice raven haired girl's pokemon not long ago. "Ah Mud Slap, not very strong but lowering your opponents accuracy is never a bad choice. Especially since Surge can't use Shockwave anymore, oh my how cleaver! Hmm, but it won't be that easy, the battle only just started, no?" He chuckled lightly, leaning over and talking to Riza now. "Congrats on the badge honey, that was a fun battle to watch....hey let me ask you something. So what's the deal with you and Shiro anyway? I mean he didn't even mention you when I met up with him yesterday and suddenly you've got him smiling and all that. He's the last person I'd ever expect to blush, even if it's only a little."
As the two trainers squared off once again, Eraku couldn't help but noticed that their battle space was becoming smaller and smaller as more people crowded onto the deck to say goodbye to their loved ones. Then suddenly a crew member stepped in between the two boys just in time to get a blast of water to the face. Drenched the sailor chuckled a little bit and then said “Ok boys I know you guys want to battle but as you can see a lot of people are boarding right now so could you kindly wait till we are underway to resume your battle?” the sailor then turned around and went back to his work preparing the ship. The two boys looked at each other and laughed for a few seconds. “Yeah I guess we should wait a little bit. I mean we will have plenty of time to battle and other things.” Eraku said walking towards Roy. “Yeah I suppose we should wait but I really wanted to show you this new move wingull learned maybe later…” Roy said looking a little disappointed. “Hey Hurricane why don’t you go get a good perch up top somewhere and relax for a little bit. I’m just gonna be on this deck so I’ll whistle when I need you.” Eraku said to his Pidgey. Hurricane chirped happily and took off picking a spot high above everyone else. “Wow there sure are a lot of people around. I wonder what master is doing here. It seems like we just got off the water now he’s getting back out to sea. Hmm well at least he looks like he’s having a good time.” The pidgey looked down at his friend and smiled knowing his master was relaxing. "We are already working on that, Sir," Mai said quietly into the headset, her icy blue eyes carefully scanning the crowd. It seemed that most of the people who'd wanted to board this ship were on it, and from where she was standing she could see that the burlier of the sailors were now standing in front of the boarding ramp, turning away some of the would-be travelers. They must have been waiting for a few specific people to arrive, and then the ship would probably depart.
"Ma'am, we have our first visual," the Rocket disguised as the cameraman said, and Mai turned in the direction he was facing. The video camera he was holding was streaming live feed directly to Giovanni back at HQ.
"Right," Mai nodded, taking note of the tall, raven-haired boy and the purple-haired girl as they met up. "If those two are here, then I'm sure the others aren't far behind. She and her 'crew' moved away from Kilik and Mitsu as not to draw attention to themselves. They kept on the move, with Mai quietly naming off each child she saw. "That loud redhead from the Slateport incident," she murmured, momentarily blanking on the girl's name.
"Uh, that would be Robin Knight," the other female among the group spoke up, looking down at her clipboard.
"Right. She could be troublesome in the future," Mai murmured. The girl's Pokemon weren't yet on par with some of the other children's Pokemon, but it was her attitude that was worrisome. "Of course, my wretched sister is here as well," she went on, having seen the irritating young blonde conversing with a girl sporting bright pink hair, and word from HQ identified her as Sasha Beauchamp. Mai also made note of the auburn-haired boy, Dante, as well as a few others that some of the kids had befriended, though not much was known about them. She'd about to end the radio transmission when one last familiar figure caught her eye, and Mai chuckled lightly to herself. "Well what do you know, it's the redhead." As far as she had known, Keegan had no intentions of traveling to Sinnoh so she was quite surprised to see him on the ship. Her smile faded when she saw that he was seemingly looking for something, and when his gaze came to rest on her, a chill crept up her spine. No, he can't possibly know it's me, she thought, quickly signaling to her subordinates. By this point he was heading right for her"We must stop him from alerting the others or our mission will be compromised," she said, her voice a hushed whisper. "Do whatever it takes."
"Yes Ma'am," the three nodded in unison, and two of them went off in a different direction in order to surround the troublesome redhead while the cameraman remained behind with Mai.
"As you can see, the ship is filled with trainers all ready to make the long journey overseas to Sinnoh, where numerous new Pokemon and adventures await," the disguised admin began, not about to give up her facade as of yet. That's it, Red, just a little closer, she thought deviously as the other two Rockets got into position. We will not let Giovanni down!
=-=-=-=-= Surge tried not to smirk as his challenger got a little flustered by Riza's little gesture. "Better put up a good fight there, Crenu," he called out, ignoring the comments about Crenu using Pokemon that were weak to electricity. "You'll wanna put on a good show for your girlfriend!" He let out a hearty laugh that echoed throughout the gym.
"Chuu," laughed Raichu, clapping his paws together. He didn't really understand what was so funny, but if Master was laughing, then he would too. When Mr Reid and his Pikachu signaled for the battle to begin, however, his expression turned serious and he crouched into a defensive position, seeing as the challenger would be making the first move.
"Mud-Slap, no shock there," Surge chuckled, nodding to his Pokemon. "Raichu, you know what to do." The mouse tensed up as the fuzzy pig-like thing began to bound forward, and he suddenly spat up a blob of mud. Raichu didn't appear to be worried at all and he grinned as his tail began to glow. He pivoted on a foot, lashing out his tail like a whip, and there was a resounding metallic clang as the Iron Tail cut down the Mud-Slap like it was nothing. "You'll have to do better than that," Surge chuckled as Raichu flicked his tail to remove the mud from it, still grinning like before.
"Mud-Slap, good way to start off," Jaeshan nodded to himself, though it was still far too early in the battle to make predictions. He knew that Surge was a skilled trainer and had very much earned his position, though he couldn't blame Crenu for starting out with a move like Mud-Slap. He wasn't at all surprised when Raichu deflected it with a nicely timed Iron Tail, and he winced a little. Crenu will have to watch out for that one, Swinub's weak against Steel-type moves...
He glanced over at Ken as he started questioning Riza, and though he didn't want to listen in he couldn't help but overhear them. He too was interested in hearing how Crenu and Riza got together, as they seemed like quite the unlikely coupling to him. But then again Kasiya and Keegan wound up together, so we can't be too surprised. Smirking, the blonde turned back to the battle, eager to see what would happen next.
"Thank you, Ken," Riza said, looking towards Swinub as he led off with a Mud-Slap. "It wasn't easy, but it was sure worth it!" She looked towards the blue haired man when he asked his question, and she couldn't help but giggle a bit. "Oh, that's a funny story, really," she said, watching as Raichu used a rather nice iron tail to block the mud from hitting him and lowering his accuracy. "I met Shiro at the beach party in Slateport City the other day," she said. "Just before professor Rowan's seminar thing. We started talking and stuff, and when the rockets attacked he protected me from them and even got hurt in the progress. Just ask him about the Ekans bite he now has on his arm. After that we just kinda hung out. He was even there when I captured my Corphish. I was supposed to go with him when he went to Dewford for a gym match but he took off without me, but now we're all here again together so I guess it worked out, didn't it?" On her lap Eris yawned and snuggled in to get more comfortable. Riza petted her head lightly, thinking about how strange her first few weeks away from home had been.
The sandstorm whirled around the arena its stinging sands biting into the more fleshy members, Cranidos though hardly even noticed the stinging sands as he stood proudly in the middle of the swirling vortex. While he was admiring his work though a flash of purple caught his eye and before he knew it he felt the small sting of the Roselia's poison sting attack. Snorting slightly he shock his body shaking off the poisonous needles and glared at the plant pokemon across from him that had unleashed such a pathetic attack.
"Heh, don't go thinking that Cranidos will fall as easily as my others." Roark said with a proud grin as he watched his pokemon stand proudly after the poison sting attack. "Ok let's show that Roselia the power of ancient and rock type pokemon!" Roark called out with a grin. "Let's send it to the compost heap with your Headbutt!"
Send it to the compost heap? Ha! He was going to mash that flower into a pulp! Grinning the ancient pokemon charged forward his large head leading the way.
"A pokemon researcher?" Dante said with mild amusement as he looked at the younger boy. Yeah he could see it, at one time he had harbored such thoughts but his interest in the legendary pokemon had called him down that path. Hey if he wanted to put a twist on it he could call himself the legendary pokemon professor. Chuckling quietly to himself he rested his hand on Hera's horn as he entertained such thoughts for a second.
Shaking himself out of those fairly amusing thoughts Dante mused at Jason's question. What was there to do on the ship? Well he didn't really know, he had never been on one so large before. Shrugging he put his hands in his jacket pocket. "Well the ships so big I would imagine there is plenty to do here. I wouldn't be surprised if they said there was a pokemon gym in here."
It turned out Robin's hunch was correct, Luffy was indeed at the front of the ship. In fact he was at the very front of the ship. It turned out he had hopped the bars and was standing on the very tip of the bow looking over the waters with a happy look on his face. Leaning over the rail Robin reached out and tapped the other on the shoulder to get his attention. The energetic Ambipom leaned back until he was looking at Robin backwards and grinned widely upon seeing her.
"Hey there Luffy." She said with a grin on her face as she looked down at her first pokemon/best friend. "I take it you are ready for a whole new adventure to start." Robin asked looking out at the sea and the dock before her. In response the Ambipom abandoned his seat on the very front of the deck and clambered up onto her shoulder. The two of them shared a happy smile before they both looked back out at the harbor. They both knew they were going to have all sorts of fantastic adventures in the new land and would probably meet a whole bunch of new friends while they were at it.
