Melissa just sat there and stared out of the transparasteel view port at the swirling nothingness of hyperspace, collecting her thoughts as to how to answer this question. She had known that sooner or latter her new traveling companion would ask about it, she had hoped for the latter of the two. Reaching in to her long coats pocket her fingers wrapping around its cold hard dura-steel casing as she extracted the 30 centimeters long hilt from its secret spot, and held it in the open palm of her hand so that Katarra had an unobstructed view. Its look was all business, rugged and tough. Three small knobs lay recessed into the hilt, the trigger sensor and safety switch were the only obvious controls on its scratched and blackened casing.

“It’s called a lightsaber.” She said. “It’s the weapon of the sith, or a tool of a jedi, depending on how you use it.” Her eyes were unfocused as she stared at her weapon. “It’s your constant companion, a ready means of defense. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster.” Her voice was monotone, as if she was reminding herself, or someone else, what the thing in her hand truly was.

Katarra blinked curiously as Melissa removed the object from it's hidden location and held it flat in her palm. She glanced briefly at her with an inquisitive glance, reaching hesitantly, silently asking permission for her to examine the weapon. She was fascinated by it's intricacy. Even from staring at it in her palm, the wookiee could see the inner workings trying to form themselves in her mind, trying to picture how it worked. She knew blasters well enough, she could sort through parts, take one apart and tinker with it, trying to figure out how it operated.

From what she could see, it seemed to be operating through a form of archaic crystal in the hilt. She wondered briefly what kind of power supply it used, as she studied it with bright eyes.

But when suddenly Melissa mentioned Jedi, her blue eyes snapped back up alert, staring at her intently. "[Jedi?]" She asked curiously. "[I have head stories of the Jedi.]" she murmered, staring at the weapon once more then shifting to Melissa, her unspoke question clear. She wasn't going to pry, but the clear question was there. Why do YOU have one?

Koren stepped into the ship, with one final glance at the door through which the aruetii had just traversed. He loved Cene's ship, for it was big enough to live in. It had all the necessities he would love to have, but his fighter did the job it needed to do. He admired the spacousness of the place and his mouth began to drool

Koren foud himself a nice seat and sat down. He took of the heavy plates of his armor, making himself at home, something he would only ever do in the home, or ship, of someone he trusted with his life.

You know, whatever drink you enjoy the most. That way we can share the pleasure of it.

Koren gave an honest smile, then snapped his fingers in realization. He searched his pockets, kinda desperately, then pulls out a small square object wrapped in brown paper. He takes off the paper and reveals two small decks of cards. He grins widely and lays them down on the table infront of him.

Pazaak?

Cene frowned curiously at him.
"Koren, you sound like an oily Falleen playboy. You feeling ok?"

She tossed him a can of fizz brew and turned back to her cooking.
"I dont gamble, Kor'ika. Combat has all the risks I need. Besides, you dont play Pazaak with a guy who carries two decks." She looked back at him briefly with a disaproving look.

"Take your boots off, young man! Your mother would be rolling in her grave if she knew you had bd manners when visiting a lady."

She went back to her cooking and called out to him from the Galley. "So what all happened on Nar Shaddaa?"

Koren couldnt help but let out quite the chuckle. Amidst his laughter, he bend down and took his boots off, making sure to put them neatly in the corner. He re-wrapped the Pazaak decks and put them away. He got up and began wandering, kinda aimlessly, kinda just wanting to enjoy his stay in Cene's ship.

Fallen. Ha! I'm no bisexual. Anyhow. Nar Shaddaa? Well, I was on a mission and I was contacted by some strange Rogue. Offer me alot of high-grade explosives to bomb the Sith Academy. It was a great job. Six bombs, alot of sneaking, though I would have rahter just leveled the place. He wanted me to make a big explosion, with minimal damage. It was odd, yet not like it was my first. Though the little hu'tuun stiffed me on the pay. I'm going to put a bounty on him perhaps. Or just hunt him myself.

"Who was it?" Cene asked. "Some thug?"

Koren closed his eyes and thought hard. He scratched his head and after a snap of his fingers, he answered Cene.

I don't know who he was. Somehow he got my commlink frequency and told me he had heard of me. What was his name... Pild, Polt... oh it was Nyax. Beyond that, I don't know.

Cene shook her head. "Not much of a clue to go on, Kor'ika. Besides, you cant expect to come out on top every time."
She came out of the galley with a couple seasoned and grilled Keldabe Elk steaks, each one roughly 10 inches in diameter and an inch and a half thick. She set the plater of Venison down, then went and retrieved a dish of foil wrapped corn cobs and a plate of rolls.
"Haili cetare!" She announced. "Come and get it!"

"Asset Denial, Captain." Stryder told him. "We are about to engage in an offensive against a Hostile Sith power and I will need you and your men to prepare a beach head for the upcomming assault. It will be a difficult job, but you will have two weeks to practice your mission. Get in some dry runs."

The morning sun rose, as Nakara had been busy all night. Seeing Jaing off an hour before the dawn breaking, he had just made the schedule in time, as several used salesmen came up, and bartered for the pair of shuttles Nubyl had so kindly brought to the station. Nakara was a swindler and a hard dealer, making a little over 60,000 credits for the three small ships, in perfect shape. No force powers required, as he rode back with the salesmen into town, the credits passing from the town bank with relative ease.

"My dear, we seem to be lucky today," he added, clutching the cane in the robes his flesh had created. "Who knew that there'd be enough of a booming economy on Ruusan? It just so happens that the sith Academy needed some shuttles. I'm sure they'll have fun haggling such combat ready ones away from those merchants. If they don't kill them for sport."

The landspeeder stopped in front of the local pub, as Nubyl went off, and the doctor checked his surroundings, letting off a light side force aura and disappearing down the alleyways and adjuncts to cause some mischief and mayhem. He slowly shapeshifted as he wound through the alley, and through the back door of a shop, changing into a tall Ruusanian, with blonde hair and lanky arms. Clouding the mind of the shopkeep, he exited without a hitch, heading up to the main staircase of the academy.

Two guards stepped in his path. "Identify" they commanded. The toothy grin widened, showing nasty teeth and a less than amiable smile.

"You know my strength," he said, flaring his aura up, gripping them without even lifting his hands to focus. They began to choke, until one sputtered out.

"Pass.." the other spat.

"This is security? No eye scanners, no ability to fight back? And you're supposed to be an assassin academy too. Masters of countering the stealth of the shadows to your own whim. I could kill you without even summoning my hate."

Dropping them, he proceeded to some private chambers, and sent word for the so-called "apprentice" he was to gain. While he waited, best to play a trick on the boy, as he changed form again into Nubyl.

Pash was negotiating for a transport to the old weather station when he detected a light side presence in the Force seem to project itself somewhere in town.
He paused, momentarily curious.

Another Jedi?...Well this is Republic Space. I'll have to be more cautious...

"You gonna rent a speeder or what, pal?" The shopkeep asked him suddenly.

Pash remembered he was on buisness and cleared his throat. "Of course. I was suddenly reminded of something. Sorry. Now then, how about that one?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A short time later, as he was loading up his rental bike for the trip, the Comlink taken from the Sithling he had fought chirped. Pash had almost forgotten about the device.

He answered it in a close approximation of Shisstal's voice and listened to the message.

"You've been cleared and your presence requested at the Academy. Come here immediately."

Pash shut off the comlink and pondered his next move. He quickly calculated this was a narrow window of opportunity and decided to go for it. Fortunately he still had his Sith Assassin uniform.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Clad in the Sith Assassin bodysuit and a cheep all weather cloak he had purchased on his way over, Pash aproached the entrance of the Facility, striding with purpose for the door.

The Guard stopped him before he got too far, stepping in his path.
"Out of my way, fool. I have been summoned." Pash hissed angrily.

"ID."

"You idiot. I was here yesterday. You gave me a comlink and told me I could come back when my identity was confirmed."

"Then how come I dont recognize you?"

"Because you are an idiot." Pash told him. "Now stand aside or I reduce the Academy's head count by one."

"Wha-"

Pash reached out with the Force and clenched on the man's neck. "Listen, fool. I put up enough with your insolence yeterday. Ive scrapped and bowed and put up with pig headed ignorance Enough. Now, I have been summoned to the Academy. Today I begin my ascent as a Dark Lord of the Sith. And YOU will not ruin it for me."

He released the Sith Trooper's neck and the soldier gasped and weazed.
"You...you...couldn't..."

"Do this?" Pash levetated the Rock Shisstal failed to lift from the day before like it was a minor task and sent it like a missle towards the trooper, the rock cracking his faceplate.

"I have embraced my anger, my rage and passion. I am not the mewling milksop you met yesterday, fool. I have been...reborn..."
He gripped the man by the collar, not bothering to even look at him. "Now open that door or I shall show you a death so horrible that it would make a Hutt vomit."

The trooper had been convinced enough. He hastily opened the door, remembering (with a little assistance) that this was the youth from yesterday.

The other guard wisely said and did nothing as Pash released his partner and walked through the open doors in the confident, self assured stride that was so common with the Sith.

It was an illusion that wore on Pash's soul. He had tapped the Dark Side to do it. But it needed to be done. He at least hadnt needed to kill anyone yet.

He shrank his signature in the Force back the near unpercievable level it was when he had aproached the guards and sought information as to where he as to go, Identifying himself as Shisstal and mentioning the summons. He was directed towards the private chambers of some Dark Lord. No name was given. The man was simply called the Dark Lord, as though Pash was supposed to know who he was.

Based on what he did know, Pash guessed Nakara was that Dark Lord, but reminded himself that in his line of work, he could Assume nothing.

As he neared the doors, Pash steeled himself and kept his cloak pulled low, keeping his eyes open for any signs of danger.

Opening the doors, he found himself looking upon a cyborg woman in a wheel chair and was perplexed.
"I am Shisstal. I have been summoned here to be apprenticed into the Sith Order." He told her. "Am I in the right room or was I given false directions?"

"Sounds like fun, sir," Xel replied with a tiny grin. The Duros continued "What is our target, and how much intel do we have on it?"

The wookiee was full of curiosity, and Melissa didn’t need her force powers to feel it, the huge looming hairy paw said it all. She gave Katarra a sidelong smirk, spinning the hilt in her hand so the Katarra could see her thumb click a switch, preventing the pressure plate from activating the weapon. She reached out, taking the questioning paw in one hand and placing the hilt of her saber into Katarras paw with the other, the blades emitter matrix nestled deep with in its shroud pointing at Melissa’s chest.

“This is a dangerous weapon, especially in untrained hands; it could easily kill its owner.” She leaned forward, looking up into the wookiee’s eyes. “Or compromise the hull integrity of a ship.” She let go of the wookiee’s paw and leaned back in her seat, eyes empty as she watched Katarra, letting whatever happens, happen.

All it would take is a simple flick of the thumb and a squeeze of the palm to activate the weapons glowing blade, sending it through Melissa’s chest and out the back of her seat and berry it’s tip into the control console behind her.

"Since when do apprentices wear such bodyarmor?" Nakara said, pulling up the file on the new "apprentice" of his in the chair. While the question was directed as a slight against the newcomer, Nakara felt off for some reason.

"No matter. I'm Nakara's personal assistant. Please confirm your identification," he announced, the metallic feminine voice echoing in the room. "I'm not really keen on bringing the wrong person to him. His last apprentice, a kushiban, made the record of six months. I think it was luck more than skill though."

~~~~~~~
The night had passed, as 0400 the alarm in Ritt's room went off. Just two hours to suit up, and ship out. The Bathurst was prepared already as the small fightercraft approached and landed in its docking station. The other corvette assigned to its duty was in the dock to its right.
"Everyone ready?" Ritt asked, 10 minutes before the scheduled take-off time.
"Last shuttle hasn't arrived on planet, Ritt. We'll have to wait at least that long."
Ritt made his way to Captain Tuing, and impatiently waited for the time to begin his little 'privateering' mission.
"Since he came upon the last owner, who apparently didnt need it any more." Pash said.
Something was odd about the cyborg woman. For a being wth such a high amount of prosthetics, she had a signifigant presence in the Force.
"And I thought you HAD my identification. You spent an entire day checking it over. And given what I went through yesterday, I will be rather...upset...if you still dont have it."
