Harupiggy Lady Psycho Sexy Harupiggy Lady Psycho Sexy Harupiggy I liked Griffin. It was different. o.o
Shade was the one who ate bat to drug those two vampire bats, right? Shade was proud, ballsy, and brilliant. Griffin was a clumsy, sniveling wimp with separation anxiety and a guilt complex. Shade resented being treated as the runt and aimed for greatness; Griffin just kind of accepted that he was no more than Luna's shadow. Marina must have had an affair with Chinook, because there's no way something so useless could come out of Shade's gene pool.
Yeah, Shade was the one who came up with the ******** plan to drug their captors and escape in broad daylight. And let's not forget his mad sonar l33tskillz. Wtf did Griffin have? Oooh, streaked fur. That's SO cool. rolleyes

Well, maybe that was the point? It was always an acknowledged fact that Griffin was in no way his father's image. Shade's badass, I'm not denying it. It was just interesting to see that in the character foil.
Third book needed more Marina. D<
I just liked how the different story arcs played out, and enjoyed how each character reacted.
Also, rather than just a ******** plan, I liked for a bit how Marina and Shade interacted afterwards. I wanted moar, but Oppel failed to deliver that same feeling. I know, but Griffin wasn't... anything. :/ I mean, Marina wasn't Shade either, but she was way more than just his shadow. Griffin is always the damsel in distress. He doesn't change, he doesn't grow; he's just as big a chickenshit wimp on the last page as he is on the first. Granted, he didn't have people like Frieda to look up to -- oh wait, yes he did, his dad is a ******** legend. You don't have to be a carbon copy of Shade, but you could at least be more than a carbon copy of Jarod.
You mean Marina's resentment toward him? I felt terrible for Shade when he was trying to help her and she thought he was actually a bat-eater. Marina's a b***h. She's pissed at him 50% of the time in Sunwing, and the other 50% she's trying to make him jealous of Chinook.
Maybe I should read the 4th before I pass judgment on Griffin, but I can't get a hold of it. :/

The fourth has nothing to do with Griffin. It's prehistoric, and focuses on the first bat-thing who learns how to fly. :3 Although, even Dusk had more substance than Griffin. It's good anyways. GET IT DO IT f*****t FFFFFFFUUUU- Oh, and he pretty much invented echolocation.
Yeah, Griffin was still a pansy. You know, after crossing the underworld and seeing your father an hero so you and your friend will live, you kinda think you'd build character or something.
I think I felt bad for Shade. Not too sure, I enjoyed the hell out of that part. Marina was kind of annoying. I dunno, I never really thought too much of the characters themselves. Yeah, I just read an excerpt from the site. It sounds pretty damn good. I love how KO always starts the book somewhere exciting, instead of the 'this is where they live and this is what they do, the action starts in 2 chapters' approach.

Maybe I can be like Agatha in TP, where I don't send you explicitly to get things for me, but instead you bring me rare things you find around the world and have no use for like centuries-old currency, uncut gems, or historical documents, and I reward you with fancy equipment or rare medicines?
As for my reason for doing it... idk. Because I can sell them at marked-up prices to museums and treasuries?
Maybe there can be a sidequest where Haru and Cookie steal something of mine and you have to get it back. xd
EDIT: @Haru: I know. You never wanna put it down. Have you ever read one of his adult books though? It's a totally different style. There's a lot more inner monologue.
Also, Shade would have tried to break Cassiel's fall. That is why I hate Griffin; he just stood there and watched.

No, I haven't read anything but the Silverwing books.
EDIT: I go to Stephen King when I want to read something more adult. :3
I dunno. I think if Shade really wanted to give his life to Griffin, he wouldn't have been stopped. I don't think he'd want to live while his son stayed dead. Doesn't seem like a Shade thing. sweatdrop

No, I haven't read anything but the Silverwing I go to Stephen King when I don't want to read something childish, tbh. I'll read anything with KO's name on it. I live close enough to him that it's actually possible for us to run into each other at the Erin Mills festival again, so I want to be able to say 'Oh hey remember me, we met 10 years ago. I still read your books. Will you sign my copy of the Devil's Cure?' instead of 'Oh hey remember me, we met 10 years ago and I haven't touched one of your books outside Silverwing. Ummm, will you sign my tits? They're the only thing I didn't have last time.'

 -nod- I kinda lol'd.
I don't get to meet any authors I like. >.> I have an author for a teacher though, but her books haven't been all that popular outside of Canada.
If I find one of his other books, I'll see if I can pick it up.
