{Bobbi, Yuffie, Zell, Demyx, Red XIII .:. Narnia .:. Sinking Rubble >> Solid Ground}

Bobbi completed her fall, and on instinct alone turned it into a slide, right under the spinning blades and between Demyx's clones as the crazy ice soldier was destroyed. She took far longer than she wanted to in order to stand, though really she barely took a heartbeat. Amy's Curaga washed over the group, and several lacerations Bobbi hadn't even noticed getting were healed almost instantly.

Jaizus, I haven't bled this much since my last period! …when was that, anyway?

The archer spun around, firing her arrows into the Heartless. After a few ineffectual hits to the ice-soldiers, she learned not to target them—which was totally obvious but at this point she was pretty much shooting anything that moved that didn't also immediately register as human. A tiny section at the back of her mind was quite proud of herself, for being up and fighting despite the fall-turned-slide. By all rights, she should probably be shaking at the least. If she was, though, the adrenaline rush and her focus on her targets was keeping the panic attack at bay.

She felt the ground tremble with the stampeding Behemoths, but her wide-legged stance kept her upright, though she had to leave off her archery to balance. She looked up from her footing just in time to see the lady in red running off, casting what appeared to Bobbi to be spells of basically every element ever. Of course, she was staring right at the landing pad when someone came rocketing in. Almost immediately she suspected Cory—and cursed, because she was five thousand percent sure that they didn't need to add his bullshit on top of everything else, but no. That blade wasn't Cory's precious "rev-blade." No, it was worse.

"Son of a WHORE."

.:Thaaaaaaat's a Nick,:. Bobbi broadcast over the charms. .:Son of a b***h, that's a Nick.:.

Nanaki had been barely affected by the passing Behemoths, and was at the time near the back of the group. He sped by Kyla on his way to shred a few more heartless, but when he saw her desperately trying to save Axel, who was already gone. He turned from his course and butted her sharply away from the Nobody.

"Move, two-leg!" he growled. "Grieve later, act now." He butted her again, then darted off to his previous target, launching a Fira spell at a nearby Ice Soldier, aiming for the creature's chest area.

As the ice soldier in the middle of the group was destroyed Demyx recalled his water clones, and took a different tactic in his defense of the group.

Well, he did after picking himself up out of the snow after the Behemoth quakes had stopped.

He sent geysers erupting around the field, knocking smaller creatures into the air and trying to keep the larger ones at bay. He looked around for a moment and saw the two people he wanted, not even noticing the two new arrivals to the group.

"Hey! Ice chick! Gun-dude! Can you freeze these guys?!" he shouted. He turned to cast another geyser, and caught Axel's last moments.

"Hiiiiyah!"

Yuffie caught her shuriken as it ricocheted back to her from cracking one of the ice things. She let the others finish it off and focused on attacking smaller ones that had come in closer.

Zell counted himself lucky that he was still in one piece, considering he had absolutely no means of attacking at a distance. He had to get up close and personal in order to do any damage, so he tried to stick close to the edge of the group, covering the ranged folks as they fired into the Heartless and Ice Soldiers. He blessed Amy and her group-wide Curaga, but he wasn't counting on it being a regular spell.

He took a step back to catch his breath, looking around at the swarming armies.

"In the air!" he called, both vocally and over the charms, as he saw the airborne Heartless swarming in. He kicked a few smaller Heartless as they got close to him, and readied himself for a jumping attack, preparing to punch one of the flying Heartless in the face if it got too close.

[Kyla: Narnia: Moat shore]

It hurt. And these would be the last words he ever said to her. How she was a bother to everyone and her memory was s**t.
“Axel w-“ He shoved her back, and she nearly stumbled, But Nanaki apparently needed to help but head butting her sharply, and now Kyla fell over, not expecting him to do that. Her back jolted against the snow, and Axel burst into flames behind them finishing off more heartless. She bit a hiss, and scrambled to get to her feet again-

His growl was matched with hers- as she opened her book again he and shoved- again pushing her away further. While the sentiment was understood it was ill timed, and Kyla screamed in frustration-

“Cut it out -and let me act- DAMNIT!” she slashed violently across her page and a solider was cleaved in half before it was even a few meters closer- “Stop knocking me over!” she spat with all the anguish and rage bubbling in her chest like a heartburn , while simultaneously throwing a birn strike lvl 2, at an oncoming horde of heartless. The stream of phantasmal birds blasted them like a line of missiles.

She felt the creature's interuption was over kill. Axel's own reaction was enough to get her going, she didn’t need a giant cat twice her size pushing her around and getting in the way! To her it felt like he was just rubbing it in, and turing away now not even bothering to look back she took off to center herself in the middle of the group. she needed to get a clear view again to cast her buffs.
Kyla's book was blazing as she took off into the air to regain her vantage point. The sky revealed the next terrifying storm of enemies. She could hear Bobbi during this scream something about Ni- NICK?! That mother**Ker was here?!! Oh no, she did NOT feel in the mood to see any more decapitated heads!

She summoned her flight of blades next to protect herself while she prepared a range of buffs for everyone else. Her eyes rose to the sky seeing the massive heartless fly overhead.
How many more were going to die?

{James ; Leon : Narnia : Moat Shore}

James continued unleashing volley after volley of the crescent shaped energy strikes at any enemies that got close enough. They were gaining slow ground, heading towards the bridge. However, the constant onslaught of Heartless was making it difficult. To make matters worse, the behemoths launched out of the forest with a woman with flaming red hair riding it, the beast bucking and thrashing as it tried to shake it's rider off as it rampaged. The corsair's eyes followed the behemoth briefly before turning his focus back to the battle, Joe's questions matching his own.

'No idea Joe...,' the corsair replied.

The gunner's eyes continued to scan across the battlefield, re-summoning his hexagun as the amount of close ranged enemies seemed to dwindle. As Mizu called out regarding Nick, he noted the concern in her voice, but didn't understand why. He noted the man who was standing a short distance in front of them, he thought it might be Nick. However he wasn't sure, so he didn't think much on it.

{{cue : Bloody Promises}}

James' eyes opened wide in shock as he watched Sayrike look over towards Kyla, who was holding a clearly fatally wounded Axel. It was clear that nothing could be done for him, the hexagun in his right hand shook slightly as he tried to hold back his feelings, another of their rank lost... Thankfully, Demyx's call to action prevented him from dwelling on it for too long, the corsair drew his Ice Card preparing to unleash a number of Ice Shots. However, right as he was about to take his first shot a massive inferno rushed all around them obliterating all of the Heartless that remained in their path to the bridge, and with that the Flurry of Dancing Flames was gone.

'Axel is gone....' the corsair thought, briefly stunned.

"Sadly, sometimes loss is unavoidable. You all must keep moving, or more may very well be lost!"

The corsair nodded his head in understanding, through Axel's sacrifice their path to the bridge was clear. He would mourn their lost later, they all would. However, now was not the time, with more Heartless coming down from the sky, their opening would likely not last long. Though admittedly, most of the Heartless were coming down on the castle.

"We need to cross the bridge now before more enemies show up!" he bellowed, trying to spur the others to keep moving.

"Axel!" Leon called out as the Fire Nobody literally exploded, obliterating the rest of the Heartless in the area. The rest of the one incoming Heartless seemed to be focused on the castle, which was good for them.

The gunblader's free hand clenched into a fist, during their time in Radiant Garden, he had gotten to know the Nobody pretty well, he even considered him a friend. Cloud, Auron, and now Axel had been lost. Even though no one had confirmed it yet, the blonde swordsman was clearly no longer with them, which could only mean he was gone as well. Leon wasn't new to loss. However, the loss of people who he considered his friends always struck to the core. He wouldn't lose focus though, he had to stay on guard. He would wait until the rest of the group was ready to move though, there was no point running off into more trouble.

[Amy : Narnia : Moat Shore / Near Bridge]

Nick didn't get far along the bridge before he had to jump, landing on the ground instead of the ice covered lake. It was still quite a fall, but he didn't appear to be injured by it. He wasn't attacking them, so she assumed he wasn't a threat. They were all surrounded by heartless at the moment. Who knew what he'd be like when they had a bit more cover, and a bit more safety. That was assuming their conditions would improve, instead of just getting more difficult.

The lady in red was another odd-ball thing that Amy didn't quite expect, but she was somewhat fitting for this world. Narnia had dryads, talking animals, stars in human form; why not this? But what did she want, and why was she so happy? There were so many questions without answers.

The group was well buffed, and Amy went on the offensive. She refrained from using any special abilities, and spent her bullets helping out the tanks in combat.

She heard Kyla calling for help, saw her sketching furiously. Sayrike's analysis was grim, and Amy confirmed it with a quick Scan of her own. Not even casting Life would help- he was already fading away. And then Axel was gone, and Kyla was airborn. The world was in chaos. How could Axel die? Did anyone else die? Was everyone else okay? Everyone appeared okay, as far as she could tell-

A fresh wave of heartless were coming in from the air, as well. If the earthling group started on the bridge, would they just get picked up by heartless and dropped off the side? Could they get across the bridge before they were overwhelmed? What would they do if they got to the gate, and found they couldn't get in and were stuck there? But what about the lady in red, would she blast a hole through the gate, or what?

Questions, but not really many choices. Joe had been un-commandy for a while. She assumed he was busy fighting like the rest of the group. Or dead.

"Joe?"

[Joe: Narnia: Moat Shore]

The male's head felt like it was spinning. Too much was going on at once. From the fiery woman, to the avatar of Chaos. Axel protecting Kyla, to dying, to Kyla berserking on Heartless that weren't even near them. The barrier for overhead attacks was now gone. Plus there was also the sudden swarm of aerial Heartless and their rain of fireballs suddenly coming it.

It was beginning to be too much at once for Joe.

Deciding to take one thing at a time, Joe turned towards the avatar, weapon at the ready...only to turn to miss running directly at him, teeth gritting and a low growl escaping him as Nono chastised him through the charms, as if knowing his intentions. Okay, he couldn't 'deal' with Chaos in the way he wanted right now. Fine.

He heard Amy call his name, though, and he looked at her. "What?" He shook his head, trying to clear it. "We keep moving. Keep on moving forward! Don't let up!"

He was grinding his teeth as he ran. Just...a little longer, hopefully. Only a little longer....

He kept moving.

[[ Joe : Narnia : Moat Shore ]]

Joe still felt the heat from Axel's suicide attack on his skin. It was one thing to watch this happen on a screen and another to be there in person and have the death lingering on the air.

Shaking, he looked to his side and saw Leon clenching his fist in grief. He could hardly believe that this much death was happening around him. Whether it was naivete or some kind of cognitive dissonance, he had assumed that all this would amount to was injuries.

No such luck. This was a full on war in the real world. People don't escape death just because they were popular.

He had to calm down, access the situation. Prevent as many more deaths as possible. And since he was already close to the front...

Leader-Joe and James had already given the call to move. He took a deep breath and exhaled, breathing out another Mana Mist spell as he did so. Then he began to run, making his way to the front of the group.

"Unless anyone has any objections, I'm shelling-up and taking point"
Joe broadcast over the charms "If the new arrival on the bridge isn't friendly, I've got the best chance of surviving a hit."

[ Kyle ; Sora ; Riku ; Earthlings : Narnia : Shore -> Bridge Beginning ]
[ Still Cuing : Saber's Edge ]

Riku cursed under his breath, a habit he was slowly gaining because of the Earthlings. The behemoth and the woman were one thing, but that sword--he remembered that blade far too well, and he held his key to the front with a powerful glare.

Here? Now?

Sora watched, more in awe than concern, both at the woman and the man with the blade that came crashing down. But he wasn't blind, either--he noted the sudden tension in the others--Dani and Matthew had both slipped into a more defensive stance, even while running, while Dawn slowed out of caution, not even counting the others.

"What am I missing?" he asked Riku in private.

The stone guardians were doing fairly well at keeping Kyle and those around him protected, shredding most anything hostile that came within 5 feet. The giant Behemoth had been a sudden and frightening concern, but it was quickly dispatched...

... by an elemental wielding giant?

Is... was that a Norn?

Before he could even properly figure out what the hell was going on with her, the new Joe shot out some questions.

"No idea, no idea, and--"

Nicholas had landed ahead. Already somewhat overwhelmed by the new elemental-wielding possible-ally, Kyle had slowed to a walk, trying to figure out what everyone else was going to do about the situation with the scion host.

"That's Nicholas," he continued, this time to the entire party. "Host of Chaos, who has attacked us twice before, but a reliable source for the moment insists that he's here to help for now."

Through the running and the wind, it was hard to tell, but Kyle heard Kyla start talking behind them--generally, they'd been keeping to charms to make sure messages were clear, so the sudden sound of a voice caught his attention.

That's when he noticed Axel. And noticed Sayrike and Amy's concerned, but unaiding, glance as the black smoke began to rise.

The Flurry of Dancing Flames was dying. And, despite himself, his heart sank. His chest tightened. His mind frayed... and his head started pounding.

Time seemed to slow.

"What Kyle said," Riku began to respond, his senses on high alert; this man could use the wind itself, which meant he needed to be extremely cautious and alert--

--which is the only reason he heard the stammering from the artist. He turned and watched the scene, and the tension in his body slipped away.

He cursed again, and when Joe gave the order, turned to move forward again, running with a cold glare and grace.

"Oh, wait, really?"

Sora turned to Riku almost out of instinct, as if they were really talking and the brown-haired master needed to do a double take. That's why he noticed Riku's gaze change... and that's why he turned to watch Axel die.

Again.

"No..." Sora said, his expression distraught, the grip on his key growing weaker. His mind flashed back to that day in the between-room, where they were swarmed, where Axel helped him, where Axel gave his life to help Sora move forward, where Axel explained why, and now...

... he was doing it again. But Sora didn't care. Sora didn't watch the explosions, didn't stare in awe as they were greater than the first time. He only watched as Axel's body was consumed not by darkness, but by flames, his own burning fires.

The grip on his key tightened considerably, and it shook. With a growl, he started running again with Joe's command.

The eruptions forced Kyle to bring up his hand to his eyes, shielding them from the heat, and he was hesitant to take them down, because he knew. He knew what--who--would be missing. They all did.

Zell's announcement took his attention to the skies, and he cursed as the battle suddenly became three-dimensional, even if the aerial Heartless were making their jobs easier... for the moment.

Joe's call to move forward drew him back to reality--and the absolute lack of Heartless around them, as well as a fully-present Prote. All thanks to Axel.

At least Prote should be safe for awhile...

I... should have cut him some slack.

Shoving it aside, he started to run forward again, spear at the ready. Riku and Sora followed pace, noting that leader-Joe set the precedent by not declaring Nicholas an enemy. They kept their guard up, but didn't worry themselves with him for the moment. The others followed suit as well, Jenny keeping her Haste up, Dawn keeping her Bravery going, and Anthony's War Cry still in effect.

Jenny went ahead and included Nicholas in the Haste; Dawn, however, did not include him in the Bravery, in the case that might betray them. Noelle gave him a Cure to make sure he kept moving.

As Kyle neared him, he made sure to get the sword-wielder's attention, stopping for barely a moment, just long enough to say one thing--"You're with me."

And he continued on. The throbbing in his head was getting worse.

[Amy : Narnia : Bridge Beginning]

Alright, keep moving forward. The lady in red was carving a way across the bridge, destroying their enemies and leaving a clear path in her wake.

Joseph wanted to take point, which worked for Amy. She'd follow a ways behind and buff him when they were a little closer to the bridge. She had a Reflect spell she could cast on him that would probably help out, but she wanted to be able to cast curative magic through it, and she hadn't ever practiced that level of the spell before. Still, it didn't last long and she'd rather wait to cast it until they were a little further along the bridge.

[ Noelle .:. Prote ~ Narnia ~ Shore -> Bridge Beginning]

Noelle tried to keep at the center of the group as much as possible, knowing it would be the safer place for her. She was a strong melee fighter, but without contact with her main elements she still would have been one of their weaker members. It bothered her that there wasn't much she could do to help besides heal once the damage had already been done, but she wasn't letting it slow her down. What did give her pause, however, was Axel's death. She wasn't close to him, but he was still their comrade, so it hurt. They were losing people on this mission. This fact made it all the more terrifying. They had already lost two friends in about as many days, but two more in 5 minutes? Things were serious.

The agromancer growled and turned back to the bridge, catching up to Kyle and hearing his comment toward Nick. After curing him, she had something of her own to say. With a slight flick of her finger, a tiny pebble dislodged itself from the surface of the bridge and pelleted Nick in the head. It wasn't hard enough to sting, but it was a good tap.

"Any funny business and I'll hang you with stinging nettle." She hissed, keeping up her pace. Prote joined her just as she finished and gave her a meaningful look. She waved him off.

[Dani :: Narnia :: Shore -> Bridge Beginning]

Dani kept flinging her chakrams left and right to try and keep anything that was attacking her at bay when all of a sudden all of her targets were gone. With no explanation for the cause she paused and looked around only to witness Axel’s death along with everyone else. ‘I can’t believe it,’ Dani thought, ‘One of my favorite characters, dead. I never really got to ask him about chakrams in comparison to his fire.’

At this moment Dani started to become angry and frustrated. First her chocobo that she never named was now somewhere at the bottom of the lake and someone who she had looked up to perished. She was still rational enough to hear Joe say that they needed to keep moving forward and instantly started to head in the direction of the bridge.

She stopped for a second noticing some heartless on the arches and her rage returned with some tears. She summoned some water near the bridge and with enough magic managed to make a tidal wave in an attempt to kill any heartless near the bridge but not harm the bridge itself. ‘I swear to god if someone else eats it this place might as well become Atlantica’ Dani thought as she tried to wipe away her tears.

[Nicholas <> Narnia <> Shore >> Bridge Beginning]

Nicholas continued his blasts of wind, cutting any Ice Soldier who would approach him. When the wave of fire blew past and eliminated his foes, however, he knew something was wrong. Looking over his blade, he noticed Axel's fallen form fading away and he could only shake his head.

Nice job, hero. Your sacrifice will be noted.

A sudden rush of magic hit him, and he felt suddenly felt faster. Another burst later, and his wounds had healed. He raised a brow from under his hood, and gave a look towards the Earthlings who were running by towards the shore. "How nice, I get to be includ-"

His thoughts were interrupted, however, by Kyle stopping and telling him that he's meant to follow the Dragoon. "Aaaaand the camaraderie I started to feel is gone." He turned around and began to pull out his sword, only to be pelted with a small rock to the forehead. Nicholas glanced up, noticing Noelle moving by and giving a threat of her own. As she dashed off, the swordsman couldn't help but chuckle.

"Oh, joy. What I always wanted. Thanks, Santa." He muttered, before pulling his sword from the dirt and snow and sprinting to catch up to Kyle. He continued to sprint, but a lingering thought weighed on his shoulders. He cursed, pushing himself even harder to catch up to Kyle.

"Kyle, Kyle, Kyle! Before I forget, we got a sniper atop the gate so gonna tell you now before they introduce lead into your forehead." he yelled, hoping the Dragoon would actually listen.

[[Narration - Clash on the Big Bridge]]

Tears burned the inside of their eyelids as the bearers of light pushed onward, swallowing the building weight of lost comrades deep into their chests lest they choke upon their cries and fall prey to themselves. Righteous anger and regret became the fuel that ignited a fire in their souls, souls that burned brighter than ever, each swearing in one way or another to see their goals through in the name of that which they were leaving behind, to be burned into their memories forever.

With battle cries to mask mournful weeping and weapons in hand to satisfy clenched fists, they obliterated any that dared survive and press past the nobody's finale and stand in their path. Though they were significantly fewer in number since they arrived, they could feel their comrades behind them living and passed on, driving them onward. Alone, they were but helpless victims in the face of this foe but together they could stand against this enemy and any other. Fear not this night, you will not go astray. Though shadows fall, still the stars find their way.

The glow from Atir's crossbow shone like a small sun as she pulled the trigger. Forced to take a knee below the tremendous weight of the shot, Atir watched as it careened into the sky, penetrating the massive devil ray heartless before detonating. The sphere of amethyst light engulfed a large chunk of the heartless' air force and lit up the sky like day, the clouds and storm peeled back like drawing a curtain. For but a moment, all was silent, the world stained beneath the light where awe and fear encompassed the new celestial body. As it shrunk, sound returned and the shock wave struck the castle and its surroundings.

The bridge shook violently, the earth trembled, and ice fell from every surface it clung to, down into the churning, broken lake below. Crashes against the lake's surface echoed like thunder as red lightning shot across the sky drawing trees like cracks upon the atmosphere.

In its wake, a clear, empty sky, accented only by the full moon shone down on all below. Bodies of heartless fell like rain burning and leaving trails like drops of ink running down a page. The massive heartless sank slowly as well, darkness trailing off one side which had been completely eaten by the blast.

Atir stood and dropped the crossbow to the stone walkway. She moved sluggishly, leaning over as though panting for air. She raised her head as a hum rose from the gate of the castle, a flash emanating deep from within her eyes. She nodded before straightening herself, stumbling once. The dark ice general gave one last look to the bridge where the light bearers had begun their charge led at the forefront by the crazed woman wielding the elements as naturally as one might mold clay. With nothing more, she retreated into the castle.

As the hum grew, a voice, soft like whispers carried over the lake. Somber and devitalized it spoke slowly as one would reading one's eulogy.

"Behold, the 1st dam's collapse. All have gathered as the trial of soul begins."

At that moment two things happened, first, the air around the castle settled. The clouds cleared away from what remained of the slowly falling beast and a thin mist spilled out of the castle, spreading over the lake and bridge, permeating every inch from the deepest reaches of the lake's depths to the highest point in the moon-lit sky. The light bearers, in unison, suddenly felt weaker, as though their combined strength, all their built up momentum was drained from their bodies in an instant.

The voice grew, deeper, stronger, with more emotion and ferocity with every new word spoken from an unseen mouth, "Judgement is passed though a cold steel gaze and all stand equivalent under its judgment. Pray sins and virtues will not save you here!"

The ground shook, the lake sloshed about below clattering and screeching, scraping and gnashing frozen jaws for the unfortunate soul unlucky enough to fall from the bridge should any slip and fall from the sides without railing.

Meanwhile, all the heartless that had crossed the threshold of the lake's edge, either by bridge, ice, or sky, writhed, withered, and faded, darkness flowing skyward and collecting into a massive cloud.

"Breach the gates, Asphodel, and arise, Belphegor Lord of the Gate!"

Once every ounce of darkness had joined the mass, in shrank, then detonated, releasing a new beast within. Covered in white crystalline scales atop pitch black skin beneath, was a draconic humanoid figure that floated down on shimmering white and blue wings, not unlike those of a bat.

Singing could be heard within the castle, as a simultaneous shift in the air could be felt like a pulse running through the heart of the world. Blue and red light in bizarre interwoven patterns zipped outward on every surface in a cone starting at the gate, across the bridge and ice, then all the way to the edges of the lake. From the surface of the lake, spat forth a new structures, massive towers, spears of red crystal growing upward till they stood 3 stories above the bridge stopping well below the height of the walls. Twelve of these sprouted up in total, scattered at various distances on each of their sides.

[[BGM: Arrival of the Guards - Battlefield from Drakengard 3]]
[[Alternatively for laughs- Cue: Battle on the Big Bridge from FF XIV OST]]

With two beats of its wings the demon flew up higher, giving off light that bounced between the vibrating spires as the singing grew louder and louder where it was surrounded by thorn covered tendrils and to it, the bodies of ice soldiers lifted from the ground from everywhere around the castle or on the battlements and flowed into it. Countless bodies collapsed into the cacophony of limbs made of corrupted ice before at last it opened its wings, spanning greater in length than the width of the bridge, and a new body profoundly larger than the gate it guarded, the now four-legged demon came down to rest upon the bridge with a crash. Belphagor raised its head, letting out a roar that only a dragon of ice and darkness could produce.

With a quick look over the group it became obvious, as though simply gone with no hint of ever having been with them at all, Nick had vanished.

--------------------------------------

Nick, as he stepped upon the stone bricks that made up the castle's bridge, found himself hit by a wave of cold air. While he struggled to run alongside the rest of the group, he soon found himself losing sight of them midst the white out of torrential snow engulfing him. Eventually, the wave of ice was too strong and after being forced to stop his advance entirely, the storm passed in an instant.

He still stood upon the bridge, but alone. Everyone he'd arrived with was gone, not a trace, the only foot prints in the thin layer of snow were his own as though the others had simply never existed in the first place. Where did they go? What the hell was going on? He hadn't been dreaming had he? This was Jadis' castle, that part wasn't a dream, neither was the bitter cold clinging to his skin.

Another gust, the snow on the bridge brushed away like dust. A whisper at his back. His front again. A spiral of voice, whipping him around in a paranoid cyclone before the sole of a boot collided with stone. A figure stood between him and the castle.

"Welcome back, Nick. You are early."

Joe : Narnia : Bridge

"Well, s**t."

Joe had no idea what the others were thinking, but he felt pretty sure he just summed up the general mood.

Breathing heavily, he readjusted his glasses, noticing for the first time they were fogged up with sweat. Looking around at the others, he saw that they looked like he felt. Great, so whatever the hell that light show was, it had dispelled all their buffs.

'What was that voicing going on about anyway'
he thought 'How in the hell is this even a trial?"

'It's a trial of steel boy, not of laws. This meatbag Louis clearly wants us to be worthy enough to face him'

'Or he's trying to stall us...'

Joe quickly stopped himself from continuing down that train of thought. There was a giant dragon in front of them and that took priority,

"So,"
he began, trying to hide the welling sense of dread building up inside of him as he cast a shell spell on himself "What's the game plan for giant angry dragon-demons?"

[[Narration]]

As Joe cast his spell, the enchantment on his body was just as quickly devoured by the mist. Where shell should have formed to protect him, he was left alone still vulnerable and naked to the magic he hoped to defend against, he knew at that moment, his buffs would not save him here.

Joe's eyes widened as the shell was torn down as soon as he brought it up.

"Oh no." Joe muttered "Oh, son of a b***h, no."

This was not going to end well.

"Quick addendum to that last question. Our buff's aren't just gone, they won't work at all. My shell just got eaten the moment I put it up. No one waste mana on recasts."
