I guess Ash is the social type but it can be refreshing to have one of them around.
Ben nods and then takes another puff off his smoke. He was relieved to know that he didn't miss anyone but he also felt a sort of loneliness from Keira that she wasn't talking about.
It's good to know that I haven't missed anyone....
He pauses a moment and sees a way to transition in to the more interesting topic.
Besides that...how have you been? What has it been like without everyone around?

Indeed it is refreshing. It lightens up the place.

It's been lonely really. I feel like I've been out of touch and losing some relationships I've started with some people around here...

Ben nods, he wished he could respond but he had been so disconnected lately that he didn't really know if he could actually say if Ash lightened up the place or not. He finishes his smoke and puts it out in the ashtray and looks at Keira closely.
I can understand how you feel...I mean...I own the place but this damned health issue of mine makes me not able to enjoy it...you know...I have thought about selling this place to someone with more life...but I don't know if I could trust them....I miss the people too.
Ben was being honest and he held his manners in a reserved way as he didn't want to just blurt out his mind to Keira.

Nah, you shouldn't sell it. You're a good owner and if you are not around I am usually here to keep it together. Cleaver is too. Plus even the people who don't work here will help I am sure. Everyone has just been dealing with their own problems that it hard for even them to help out...

Ben's eyes widened slightly as he heard your answer, this was the first time that anyone had really complimented him. He blushed slightly and took a moment to regain his composure.
Ahem...well...thanks I didn't know you felt that way. I really do try but I just can't be here when I need to be....say...
Ben looked you over and seemed thoughtful for some time. He took a deep breath in as he remembered what Synge had told him about having someone else here.
How would you feel if I promoted you to night manger? You could see to it that people have rooms, help get the cleaning and stuff done and still have free time to cook. What do you think?

Ben smiles and nods, patting you on the shoulder.
I am sure you will do a good job. Just make sure you know how to tell people where their rooms are, show them around, that sort of thing. Of course, you will have to throw your weight around a little more to keep the place running but you can handle that...right? Do you need any information?

Ben felt rather relieved that she had accepted his offer. He headed down to his room to find Synge sleeping and he started reading his book until he fell asleep in his chair.

Eventually, Ben had woken up in his chair and fallen asleep. He spent the next few days reading and researching before going to bed again. Now he woke up as the daylight was still coming in. He noted Synge was still sleeping and quickly checked her vitals. She seemed fine but he wasn't sure if he liked her sleeping so much but he wasn't much different only a week or two earlier.
Shaking these things out of his mind, Ben got up and went about his daily routine. Once he was fresh and clean, he walked out to the tavern to start preparing his breakfast.

Ben prepped a meal of eggs, bacon and ham using the meat stores he had brought from town the other day. He managed to cook all of this without burning any thing and was quite proud of himself because of it. He played with the idea of making biscuits and gravy but decided this was a little beyond his skills.
He placed his foods on to a plate and carried them out to the table with a glass of firewater and started to enjoy his breakfast and letting the cinnamon and caffeine combo in the drink wake him up a little. He thought about lots of things, Synge, his brother, his family and even Cap whom he hadn't seen in some time.
