"You don't need to keep up the act while you're in town." the bard says, "the king hasn't heard a thing the peasants have said since he was elected. The epidemic of blood fever ought to be evidence of that."

I guess your right, but a little practice could help out a lot.

"I couldn't agree more," the bard says, "I can already tell you aren't cut out for deception."
"Maybe you should get Valient some lessons while I go watch the fight," Cy says, "they're bound to be expensive, and he does seem to need them."

By all means teach me if you can and I'll learn it.

"I cannot teach you," the bard admits reluctantly, "I only know how to lie, not how to teach others to lie. At any rate, Cy's right about the lessons being expensive. These guys can weasel somebody out of all the gold they have."
"I should be going if I want to catch the fight," Cy says, walking off, "I'll see you when the fight ends, after nightfall if it's good."

Yeah that works Cy. Looking back over at the bard I sigh. Well then I won't let them get a chance to take my money. Because really how much work is it to pretend to be a servent after all I just need to be silent most of the time and stay in the room.

"You aren't suggesting we haggle, are you?" the bard asks puzzled, "Personally, I was just going to tell them to name a price and hand over the pass. The king can foot the bill for this...and my equipment...and whatever else we deem fit. I haven't done something this underhanded in ages, it's quite refreshing. Anyways, I should really take you over to the thieve's quarters."

You really should, even though I may not fit in there.

"The general consensus in the thieves quarters is that if you're there, you should be there." the bard explains, "It won't be a problem. Anyways, the thieve's quarters are this way."
The bard begins to walk to an increasingly run-down part of town.

"It shouldn't be hard at all, just don't make it too obvious that you're not actually a thief." The bard walks up to a relatively nice building. The door is still in one piece, and there are windows that haven't been broken. That's about the best that can be said for it. "Here's the biggest thief of all," he walks through the door to an old man walking with a cane.

"You must be here for the master of deception," the old man says, "I'll go get him."
"Not so fast." the bard exclaims, "You might be a master of deception, but you're no master of disguise."
The old man pulls off what you now realize to be a rubber mask and stands upright. You see that he's actually a gnome with a silver-white goatee.
"I never could fool you," he says, "So what do you need?"
"I need you to teach this elf how to lie."
"It won't be cheap..."
The bard flashes the pass to him.
"I'll get right on it."
"I'll be back when I'm done getting my equipment, okay, Valient?"
