User Image"Very! It isn't very pleasant, when one thought runs away before it finishes." I said, tilting my head back and forth. trying to think and failing. Though, I'm glad she liked my suggestions for a new ring. I hoped she'd use it.

And she likes Lilian, doesn't she? She does, she does! Lilian helped us both learn divinity! Learned me divinity! I am divine, which is what he wanted, yes yes. Larissa was attacked by a demon? That news made me give a deep growl, and I glared around the room as if one was in here. The room started turning bright hues of green and purple, swirling with more colours.

But she defeated the demon, good good. I smiled, up until she told me it was time to rest. "But I just got here!" I protested. "Do you want me to go that badly?" I asked, as she got up and tugged at my hand to try to lead me... where? I feel like I should know but I didn't.

I gently tugged my hand from her grasp, and glanced around the room. I had come here for something, hadn't I? But what? Shiny bunnies or fluffy snakes? My brain... My eyes wandered around the room through the haze of colour, now blues and yellows and greys, and my eyes fell on the shield again.

It was round and plain, the shield, while the blade that matched it was long and pointed; double edged and perfectly symmetrical, like a stiletto blade. I wandered over to it, running my fingers over it's diamond-wood surface.

I had wanted to do something to this, but what? Any thought I had was wiped away before it finished, leaving a rapid trail of images in it's wake. I tried to focus on one image but none stuck....

"I'll bet it isn't" she agreed, not liking the sound of that. She felt sorry for Midnight. Whatever was happening in their head sounded hard to deal with. She flinched at the deep growl, letting out a soft meep before relaxing again as Midnight calmed down. They sure were jumpy.

"What? No, no. I'm not telling you to leave. I'm telling you to rest" she said. "You know; lie down on a soft bed and close your eyes. You wake up feeling better. Hopefully" she encouraged, stopping in her tracks when Midnight pulled their hand from hers and looked around. Their eyes looked wild and shifted around a lot as they searched the room, landing on the diamond shield.

Larissa followed Midnight over to the shield and sword, sighing in exasperation. "This again? It's very pretty but, you can tinker with it later, yes? Why don't we rest first? Quiet meditation. I think that will help your brain feel calmer, and then you can think...full thoughts. Then you can work on the shield some more" she said. "Coherent thoughts. You want that, don't you? Come with me. We can rest together, and when you wake up, I'll be with you. I'll help you" She dug into her robes and pulled out a small pouch with crystals in it, tipping some out into her hand. "Hmm. Let's try this one"

Larissa took the stone and it began to give off a soft soothing light. She pressed it to Midnight's arm and started rubbing it on her skin. The stone gave off calming, peaceful feelings, and the clarity spell from its natural properties. It helped one to stay clear headed and focused and Larissa often used it while studying or during meditation doing her crystal cleansing. "Here, is this helping? See...calm...calm is nice" she murmured with a small smile.

User ImageI continued to stare at the diamond shield; glittering in my hands. She had been attacked by a demon-- no, no, that will not do. I had something right now, I wanted to use it, but I also feared I might lose it if I went too long. There was something I could do with this, if only my brain could let me focus...

Larissa was next to me, trying to be soothing. I could hear her words, telling me that I should rest and she'd help me when we woke. But still...

I felt her start to rub my arm, and I could feel the gem in her hand. My arms surged, suddenly my signature dragon claws that sparkled with distant stars... I collected this power as I was finally able to focus on an image that had surfaced in my mind-- a butterfly. specifically the exotic Blue Morpho Butterfly of verdant, steamy jungles. I held the image of one in my mind as I picked up the blade, holding it in my hand and balancing the shield on my arm.

I then reached over and gently plucked the crystal from Larissa's hand. I held it gingerly in my pointed deep violet claws, considering it as I turned it back and forth.

"Perfect." I said, tapping the crystal against the shield and closing my eyes.

The shield, crystal, and blade all seemed to glow with intense white light. The brilliance grew in size and brightness until it was near blinding, but I was so focused as the image of the Morpho butterfly seemed to shift and change in my mind, turning to diamond and glimmering with gold.

When the light died down I opened my eyes again, and I looked at the result of my magic. I had, perched on my forearm was a large diamond butterfly, it's wings spread fully and proudly; it bore patterns along the edges of gold and silver, and the wings seemed to have a faded window into the cosmos upon them.

I watched it fold it's wings, and I saw that it's body had become the sheathe for the sword. You couldn't see the blade, though the sheathe itself slowly changed used from a deep sapphire to an intense amethyst. The end of the body had a cap, and the handle was the butterfly's head... it's grip was smooth and ergonomic, perfect for holding.

I blinked at it slowly, suddenly feeling lightheaded. Did I do it? Did I use the power I had? I couldn't help but smile, before offering this crystal butterfly to Larissa. "I present the divine instrument... Morphius's Messenger."

I was mildy aware that I was swaying, and my eyes were flickering open and closed. I used my free hand to support myself on the table, because the world was trying very hard to flip sideways on me...

Larissa's plan to help Midnight backfired on her somewhat, since instead of getting them to calm down and go rest, it cleared their mind enough to focus on what they wanted to do with the shield and sword. She meeped as the crystal was plucked from her hand "Hey!" She didn't try to get it back though, curious as to what Midnight would do with it. She watched it be tapped against the shield and then had to shut hey eyes at the blinding light that filled the room.

She eventually opened them again, blinking and rubbing at them repeatedly, flashes and images burned on the back of her eyelids and flickering every time she blinked. Like when you looked at the sun or a bright light bulb for a long time and then blinked in the darkness. Something she'd tried as a kid with her friends at sleepovers.

She noticed that Midnight was looking at something, and her eyes flicked to the butterfly on their arm. "Wow..." she breathed. "Midnight, how...I didn't know you could do that". She was confused. Why did Midnight have so much magical power? Was it from that guy she said she saw, with the black and blue eyes? She watched the wings of the butterfly move in fascination, and the colour change to the sword sheath. "That looks incredibly...powerful, and precious" she murmured. "It's absolutely beautiful. But then, most things you make are. But this is different. It outclasses them by far"

Her eyes widened in surprise when Midnight offered her the set. "What?! For me?! B-but...I - I don't deserve something like this! There's no way! ...Morphius' Messenger? It's divine? How?! I mean, it's gorgeous, I don't have words to describe...divine, wow!" she took the set from Midnight, worried about offending them if she rejected the gift. "Thank you. Thank you, thank you. Thank you a million times, infinity, Leo, I mean Midnight. This is very wonderful" She held it reverently, careful not to drop it. She noticed Midnight begin to sway and their eyes flutter. "Oh, oh no! Come on, we have to get you into bed. I can't carry you though. Uhh..." She tucked the shield and sword combo under her left arm and pulled out her wand, casting a massive translucent pink crystal around Midnight. The crystal held the dragon and floated into the air with them. Larissa chuckled as she let out a shaky breath. "Ehehe, there, well, now we can carry you to the bed at least. Come with me"

She walked out of the room and down the hall to the bedroom, the crystal containing the dragon floating in the air beside her. She floated the crystal to the bed and gently lowered it down before dissolving the shield into a sugary pink mist that left a sweet scent in the air. Midnight now should be flopped onto the big bed in the master bedroom. Larissa placed the weapon set on the bed then crawled onto the bed with them and reached out to pull Midnight into her arms, lightly so as not to wake them up. Poff walked over and curled up behind her back with a small trill. "I felt that magic from the workshop! I stayed out of the way since it was so powerful. What happened?"

"I don't know. Midnight called it a divine instrument and called it Morphius' Messenger. I know Lilian taught us divine and holy magic but this is beyond her teachings. Whoever Midnight met while they were away, they did something to them! Midnight's different. No normal dragon or magic user can make divine items this...this...divine!" she whispered, confused. "It's beautiful, but I have sooo many questions for Midnight and so many worries as well. I just wanted a simple life but ever since I came to the academy and met Midnight, everything's been anything but. Not that it's their fault. It's just...so crazy".

User Image I briefly smiled at Larissa when she couldn't seem to believe that I had made this pretty butterfly thing for her. Her words were lost as fatigue finally decided ot was going to grip me wouldn't let go, and my eyes closed.

With what was left of my consciousness I could feel myself being lifted and supported by something hard and smooth, and my eyes registered more pink. Then I landed gently on something soft, and I put the last amount of effort I could into transforming. Soon enough I was fully dragon once more, and I could feel Gossamer and Sapphire floating away where I would not crush them.

I felt Larissa's arms and I curled around her, letting myself drift off into a deep, deep sleep.

Larissa lay awake for a long time, although she was trying to sleep. She had so many things to ask Midnight. Like why they were suddenly divine and where they got that divinity. Probably from the man she met by the sounds of it. He couldn't have just been an ordinary person. Maybe someone who serves the gods, or serves a really powerful god and is divine themselves. Maybe Midnight did some sort of quest to obtain it, or maybe it was already inside them, buried and just needed to be drawn out. Or maybe...Larissa closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. She could worry about it all tomorrow. Right now, she was tired. The battle with the incubus had taken a toll on her and on Poff as well. She smiled at the comforting ball of warmth at her back and slowly drifted off, even as more questions floated up into her consciousness.

The next morning, Larissa awoke at 10:30am. Not too bad, that was usually the time she liked to sleep in till. She carefully shook Midnight's shoulder, trying to wake them but they didn't stir and appeared to be in a very deep slumber. Deciding that they needed their rest, Larissa got up instead and headed for her wardrobe then the bathroom, to get ready for the day and her afternoon classes. She had Defense Against Demonics and more crystal spells to learn in the class after that. She dressed in a clean set of robes, put on her pointed witches' hat and put up her hair after doing her makeup and other things.

Poff got up and used her litter and bathed herself with her tongue. Her fur was still soft and silky from being brushed the other night. Larissa tied on a yellow ribbon collar around her neck and added a cute matching ribbon bow to her tail, both which matched the cat's yellow eyes. She kissed her familiar and let her jump onto her shoulder to perch while she puttered around cleaning the litter box, make sure she packed everything she needed for class in her magical pockets then going downstairs to make breakfast. It was a quick breakfast of fruit salad and yoghurt, toast with butter and honey, plus a banana smoothie. It was light and healthy and it all tasted good. Foods like this were the most satisfying things, and what she always craved since falling pregnant. It didn't help that she craved anything sugary either. But she did exercise every day to make up for all those sweet treats.

Defense Against Demonics went well, and she learned a few more ways to add holy spells with her normal crystal magic. After class finished, she approached the teacher, who was at her desk grading some papers. "Excuse me, Ms Abando, do you mind if I talk to you about something? It's just, a lot of things happened and I have a lot of questions. And you know a lot about holy and demonic things"

Poff was sitting on her shoulder as usual, "I'm curious too!" she said "Curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought them back! Please help, the questions are driving us nuts" She was looking very pretty today in her little bows with her super soft fur and gleaming yellow eyes.

Lilian Abando glanced up to see Larissa there, and leaned back her her seat with a smile. "Of course." She said, glancing to them to take a seat on a chair that happened to be nearby. "What can I help you two with?" She asked.

She glanced back at the sheet and made a couple marks on it, before setting it aside. "Also, have you two seen Garnet? She had been doing her homework remotely but for the past couple days she hasn't turned in or downloaded anything, I think."

Larissa politely took the seat with thanks. She watched her mark a paper and set it aside. "Well that's kind of what we're here about. You see, Garnet, Leo...they changed their name to Midnight, so I'll refer to them as that now. Well, we had a fight over something a while back and Midnight disappeared, which I've learned is something they do after a fight, maybe to clear their head and things. Anyway, they were gone way longer than we expected and we thought they weren't going to come back. Then, last night..."

She explained how Midnight had appeared, and what they were doing and saying and how they were now in some kind of restorative deep sleep. "...And that's not all. When I was trying to clear their mind and persuade them to rest, it helped them focus instead and they made this" she pulled it out of her pocket and placed it on the desk, "Midnight says it's a divine instrument. And called it Morphius' Messenger. I want to know what you know about divine items and about this one"

She told Lilian about the man Midnight said they had met, and his description. "And apparently they invited him to our wedding. Which, um, hold on a moment" she dug about in her pocket then bashfully held out a neat envelope with cute stars and moons on it. "This is an invitation. If you want to come, we'd be honoured...and your familiar too of course"

She paused, thinking "At first I thought the man she met was a demon but now I'm not so sure. They sound very powerful. We're prepared just in case any demons do show up though! Me and Poff defeated our first incubus the other day. I'm still writing the report to turn in"

User Image Liliana sat back, steepling her fingers together as she listened to Larissa's tale. As she listened she thought about what she was hearing; at least until Larissa pulled out Morphius's Messenger.

Liliana nearly jumped out of her chair at the sight of the thing; the knee jerk reaction sent her chair rolling backwards until she bumped into the wall behind her; only a few feet, but it was quite strange coming from the normally cool and collected Liliana Abando.

Yet, nothing seemed to happen. When the moment passed, the teacher relaxed some and scooted forward; absentmindedly accepting the envalope with the stars and the moons from Larissa. "It would be an honor." She said almost absentmindedly. Clearly the demon woman was distracted, to say the least.

She continued to stare at it. "... That doesn't sound like Morpheus... Though, gods delight in shapeshifting and trickery when they are bored. She was babbling on crazily yes?" She commented after a moment.

She set the envelope aside on her desk, propped up against her computer's monitor. She then reached forward to touch the wing of the glimmering divine weapon.

Her finger's were greeted by a flash of light and a circle that bounced her fingers away. Liliana paused, her eyebrows furrowing. "... What?" She asked, not really to Larissa but to herself-- confused.

Meanwhile, the butterfly shield folded it's wings together, almost innocently.

Against the half-demoness's better judgement she reached out to touch the hilt of the butterfly, and then jerked backwards when there was a loud hiss. The half-succubus cursed in some foul tongue as she held her hand-- her glove had holes in their fingertips to show burns-- she had been burned straight through her gloves.

"Foolish demon woman." She berated herself. "I should not so easily forget I am still one of the damned." She then sighed and sat back, pulling off the ruined glove as she did so. The chair rocked with her movement.

"I can't tell you exactly who Gar... Midnight met. But They are either a high ranking archangel, seraphim, or perhaps one of the gods." She flicked her tail. "I am guessing towards one of the gods. Perhaps of the Stellar pantheon. They often bear blue and white in their avatars." She mused. "Angels inspire faith, as I am sure you know. Gods, when they feel someone has the potential, inspire divinity directly. Those who are directly visited sometimes times become demigods, rarely become full gods, or most of the time just fall to madness. As such, Midnight sounds like she was having a bout of Divine Madness."

It was then she lifted a finger into the air, as she closed her eyes. Liliana seemed to be thinking something, or perhaps receiving a message from her familiar.

"Thank you Brutus, dear." She said pleasantly. "That makes sense... No god would want competition for their own name." She was smiling as she spoke these words, like someone who had realized something quite clever and was enjoying it. "A pretty good guess as to whom Midnight may have met... The Stellar Prince, the Divine Crown of Cats.... Leo himself."

It was then that Larissa mentioned the incubus. She turned her head sharply to look at the two of them, her expression... she didn't exactly look happy, but she did not seem to be terribly upset either. "Mmm. As long as you are certain he was after you; well done, then. They can be rather sticky to deal with." She then smiled and gestured to the shield. "And with that in your hands, few demons will truly pose a threat. I still do not quite understand how Midnight was able to make such a thing... but I'm afraid the flow and ebb of divine powers are beyond me, mostly."

Larissa watched the teacher reel back in her chair from fright. "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you with this", she apologised, "I just don't know who else I can trust to show it to. You're the only one I can think of with knowledge of the divine and holy".

She watched Lilian regain her composure and pull the chair closer to the desk again, taking the proffered wedding invite from the younger woman. She smiled at her reply.

"Great, then we'll be glad to see you there in a couple of weeks. If you need help choosing an outfit, I can recommend a friend of mine; Charlotte from this academy's fashion class, and Olivia at the mall in that popular clothing and jewellery store. That's who Garnet sees. I mean, Midnight. Ugh. I wish they'd just pick a name and stick with it" she pressed her fingers to her forehead and sighed.

She looked back to the butterfly shield and sword, watching Lilian study it intensely. "Morpheus. Is that a god? Oh, yes! Midnight was saying all sorts of strange things, very crazy and nonsensical. I'm still really worried about them" She watched as Lilian set aside the invitation and tried to touch the divine implements. Larissa jumped at the flash of light, a small gasp from her lips. Poff had the same reaction, her fur puffing out. Larissa seemed as confused as Lilian as to what just happened. "What was that?" she asked, eyebrows drawing together in confused puzzlement. She watched the pretty thing fold its wings innocently, saw Lilian's hand touch the hilt and shrieked at the sudden hiss that erupted from the weapon.

She flustered over the woman as she saw the state of her glove. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! Are you hurt?" Larissa fussed over her. She paused and frowned slightly. "Oh, I see...it's reacting to your demon heritage" she said with a breathy chuckle, watching her pull off the glove. "Glad you're alright, that scared me too".

Larissa sat back down in her chair and looked into Lilian's red eyes, her own eyes widening at what she told her "A-an angel or a god?! Oh my gosh. But Midnight's not even the religious type! Why would the stellar pantheon be interested in them? What could have grabbed their attention about Midnight?" she was confused. Maybe Midnight tried to contact the gods themselves. But why would they do that? There had to be some reason her fiancee was visited by a god.

She listened and nodded when she explained how angels and gods worked. "Wow. Oh my god. I -I can't believe this. You think a stellar god could have taken an interest in Midnight? From what you say, it sounds more and more like it. If they really were visited by a god from the stellar pantheon, who knows what they did to Midnight. And yes, it sounds like divine madness. I hope there's a way to fix it. I don't want Midnight to be stuck like that. I don't even know if they're going to be all right for the wedding at this stage"

She paused when Lilian raised a finger and closed her eyes, guessing the woman was communicating with someone. Most witches and wizards did with their familiars. And it turns out she was right! She looked at Lilian, her mouth falling open as Lilian spoke. "Leo himself? No way, the star sign Leo?! How? How is that possible?" She just sat there stunned, as the information sunk in. "Okay then. I guess. Wow."

She had mentioned defeating the incubus and was puzzled by Lilian's response. But then recalled that this woman had once been a succubus herself. Maybe it was still a sensitive topic. Her eyes fell to the shield and sword again and she smiled. "Well that's great news. Because I fear a lot more of them are going to show up so long as Midnight and I are both pregnant. Maybe that's why Midnight made the divine weapon and shield. They were trying to help me. I had trouble facing all demons up until today. It's really thanks to them and their familiars that I can defeat demons at all"

She stood, gathering the weapon back into her arms, and surprised to find it latch onto her arm with its butterfly legs. She gave Lilian a grateful look and smile "No, that's okay. I wouldn't expect you to know all that. I'm sure that kind of knowledge is kept to the gods. Divine matters are their business after all. Thank you so much for your help and input. It answers a lot of my questions. In that case, I'm sorry but I had better leave. I don't like leaving Midnight alone for long, especially while they are still suffering the divine madness. I better head back to Aria" she said, starting to leave.

Liliana nodded, glancing at her burned fingertips. "The shield, or the wings of the butterfly were clearly made with defense in mind; the blade, offense. That's why the wings did nothing while the blade burned me." She said as she glanced back at the butterfly.

And that does sound like something... Midnight would do." Liliana said, smiling at Larissa. "Midnight cares a great deal about you, dear. I have no doubt that she also cares deeply about your child as well." As for why the gods were interested in Midnight, Liliana also couldn't say.

She continued to sit back in her chair, almost seeming to lounge in it as she watched Larissa pack up her things. "Take care, dear~" She said. "Be safe."

"Ah, I see. Sorry you got burnt. At least we know it works" she smiled, stroking the butterfly lightly in appreciation of its usefulness and beauty. "I hope that heals up fast. Let's see. Here, please take this" she dug into her pocket and pulled out a small clear crystal filled with green light. "It's a healing spell. Just rub it on your burns and they should heal up and fade. It's the least I can do in return for all your help, though it isn't much"

She checked to make sure she had everything, Poff on her shoulder, wand in her pocket, crystals. There, yes. She started to walk away but paused and looked back at the teacher. "Oh, yes, I know. I care deeply about Midnight too, and their baby as well. We're hopefully going to be settled down one day as a family. As soon as we can get our lives together!" She waved a hand at Lilian "Thanks, you too"

Larissa exited the classroom and walked down the flights of stairs. She felt like taking a walk after everything she just learned, so figured she'd take the long way to Aria. She turned everything over in her mind, and was still pondering it when she opened a bathroom door and stepped into Aria's entrance hall. Larissa looked around, before going upstairs to check on Midnight. She headed to their bedroom and checked on the sleeping dragon. She pulled a stool over from the dressing table and sat by the side of the bed. "Thank you for the gift my love. Sleep well. We have so much to talk about when you wake up" she said, tucking a blanket lightly over the sleeping form. "I just hope you're back to your usual self for the wedding. I can't believe you invited a god to our wedding. Hopefully he can fix whatever this divine madness thing is".

Liliana looked at the crystal after Larissa left, before slowly picking it up and running it over her fingers, similar to how someone might file their nails.

User Image I slept for... gods, I don't know how long. But I woke slowly, my mind feeling sluggish and groggy.

I was in my room, on my bed. There was a blanket over my shimmering scales, and I stretched and yawned as my wings made tents with said blanket. I sniffed, and glanced around to see Larissa sitting there on a nearby chair.

"Mmm. Good sleep." I said, before rolling onto my tummy and stretching my wings out more. "How are you doing, love?"

Larissa had been sitting on her chair, checking Facebook on her phone while she waited for Midnight to wake up. Some hours had passed. She heard the blankets moving and looked up, lowering the phone to her lap. "Midnight, you're awake! Thank goodness" She smiled at her "I'm glad you feel well rested. You were in a very deep sleep for a long time".

She watched them roll onto their front and stretch. "I'm doing well. I've been worried about you. I went to see Lilian to ask her some questions about what happened to you and about the gift you made for me. Which, thank you by the way, it's really nice. I love it" She showed her the butterfly that was still clasped on her arm. "Very special, and sure to help with any more pests that turn up".

She then lowered her arm and looked at Midnight. "Lilian thinks that you met a stellar god, and Brutus said it was Leo, as in, the star sign god. They came to that conclusion because you were able to make these divine instruments that you gave to me, and because you changed your name from Leo to Midnight" she frowned slightly "I've been wanting to talk to you about all that. Did you summon the god somehow? And if so, why? And does this mean you are now a demigod or going to become a god? Sorry for all the questions, I just, have to know. I'm worried that if you're a god, you're...well, aren't they immortal? I'm only a human. And while I have some magic and knowledge, my life span is still that of a normal human being" she said, starting to twist and fiddle with the hem of her robes.

"Oh! And I wanted to tell you, Charlotte and Olivia have finished our dresses. And I gave Lilian an invitation to the wedding. She and Brutus are both coming. Of course, if there's still going to be a wedding. You haven't changed your mind, have you?"

User Image I glanced over to the buttefly, and the memry of making it ws hazy-- I'm still glad she likes it though. She seemed to speak very quick, and more then a little concern was in her voice.

"Can't fool Brutus or Liliana. Indeed, I encountered Leo." I said, folding my wings up and sitting up on my haunches. I looked to Larissa and Poff, as I felt Sapphire and Gossamer start to stir above me. "And no, I didn't summon him. He just appeared when I was looking up at the sky one night." I slid down to lay on the bed infront of her, my tail swishing slowly back and forth. "And for what I am? I have no idea. I don't... feel particularly different? I mean... I could become a god, but I don't think I should actively seek that out. I don't know what would happen if... something were to go wrong."

I looked at the my forearms when she expressed her concerns over her and me. "I'm already immortal." I said, thinking. I spoke slowly. "At least until slain.
