"Long before I knew her, then," Earendil chuckled. "I'll never forget the first time I met her. She was brought into the dining hall in the middle of dinner, everyone was there, and she just started talking to everyone as if she had known all of us for years. No introductions, no questions about our past ... in a way it felt as if she had always lived there. She acted as if she had."

"She's blunt," Earendil chuckled. "Honest. Sometimes that's a good thing. Sometimes it's a bit of a shocker. But Rhea just wouldn't be Rhea if she were any different."

The wind was growing stronger as the ship gained speed, and he wondered briefly if they would be going as fast this time as they did the last time.

"You always wonder," Earendil chuckled. "But that's not a bad thing. After all, it just means that you care."

He squeezed her shoulders again, then released her. "We should probably find Miyuki before she and Amalirahc get into some kind of trouble," he smiled. "I'm not sure it would be good to have Miyuki running around unsupervised on a ship."

"To explore," Earendil nodded. "Right. Then we should go down." He led Lin towards the door to below.

In the meanwhile, Amalirahc was showing Miyuki the lowest deck of the ship, where most of the cargo had been stored.

"It's fun to hide in this area," he grinned, nearly invisible in the darkness, save his white hair, "but Mama doesn't like when I do that. She says I could be crushed if something fell on me, or she might panic and think I fell overboard if she couldn't find me."

"That's right," Amalirahc nodded sagely. "No hiding down here. Too dangerous. But that's why I'm just showing it to you, we're not hiding, so it's all right."

He smiled broadly. "I guess that's most of it now. So what do you want to do now?"

He had already shown her the other two decks, the cabins and so on.

Amalirahc grinned. "Hide and seek, tag, races, scavenger hunt, lookout ... sometimes if I'm bored I'll draw pictures or something or ask questions or ask if I can help with anything. There's always stuff to do!"

Of course, since the voyage when he had been born, he had only been on short trips. Nothing major, not like that last trip had been.

"Yup!" Amalirahc grinned. "That's where someone else tells you some things to find, and you have to find them and show them to the person! Or just tell them where it is, if it's too big to carry. And the first person who finds everything is the winner!"

Of course he had only ever played against himself, so he was very used to winning. Still, it was fun.

"Okay," Amalirahc agreed, still smiling. "But we can't play down here. We might knock something over. The best place to play is on the crew's deck, where the hammocks are. Since they're all put away right now, we can run around and we don't have to worry about breaking anything!"
