Lin once more blinked, taking in that information. Normally she would just face the problem head on, but she supposed that did make sense. Though she couldn't imagine it being taken that way for someone like her father, then again he was scary according to some of the people she knew.

"Oh... okay then," she murmured thoughtfully, staying by Tinuviel's side, "I see what you mean."

At least she thought so.

Tinuviel smiled at Lin reassuringly. "You'll be find," she assured her. "Just remember ... she's probably at least two or three feet taller than you, but you're the bigger person here. Stand tall ... keep your back straight ... and I don't care what you were taught when you were growing up, I want you to look proud. Proud to be my friend ... proud to be Earendil's friend. Proud to be who and what you are, no matter what this girl thinks of you."

So it was going to be a repeat of the Radical yelling incident only without the yelling Lin thought to herself. She smiled up at Tinuviel.

"I'll remember."

Besides everyone was taller than her anyhow, how much trouble could it be? She kept reminding herself this as she faced the doorway.

Tinuviel smiled at Lin and sat at her desk once more to wait and to watch.

It was still a few minutes before there was another knock, and the door opened once more to reveal the same guard that had appeared a few minutes before. He bowed deeply to Lin and Tinuviel, and announced, "Halaleel," in a very solemn tone.

Then he was gone, and Halaleel, looking considerably calmer than the day before, was in his place. It seemed she had determined to do what she had to in this case, because the first thing she did when she entered the room was bow low in respect. Whether it was to Lin or to Tinuviel was questionable.

Lin stood straight as she was told, trying not to think how horribly awkward this was. She could never imagine anyone back home doing this (though she thought the radicals could learn a think or two from it).

"Halaleel..."

There was a slight tingle in her stomach, which Lin thought was odd, she wasn't overly nervous. At least she never became nervous enough wehre she could feel tingling.

Halaleel's eyes took in the condition of the study as well as the expression on Tinuviel's face before she finally straightened and faced Lin head-on.

"Lin," she replied coolly, though respectfully. "I came to apologize for yesterday. I acted unreasonably and said things that I ought not to have said."

Tinuviel watched the girl closely, looking for any signs of insincerity or glances that might reveal that she was looking for someone other than Lin, or that she was in any way showing disrespect to her.

She still didn't like Lin, Lin didn't know why that thought popped into her head. After all, it's not like she cared if Halaleel liked her or not, but it was a separate observation.

"I accept your apology," she replied in turn, "And am happy you have done so. I take pride in my honour and what I have worked my life for."

Her chest tighten in admitting this, which was odd she thought because it wasn't emotional, but she felt it was harder to breath. Not to mention when did her voice became so damn light she thought. She was starting to sound somewhat like her mother.

Halaleel seemed surprised that Lin accepted the apology so quickly and so easily, but she hid it well. Still, there was something that seemed a little off about it ... that strange tone of voice, for one.

But before she could say anything, Tinuviel spoke up. "Lin ... are you all right?" she asked worriedly, rising from her chair and moving to stand next to Lin. She put one hand carefully on her shoulder. "You don't sound like yourself ..."

Lin tilted her head slightly, so she wasn't imagining things. She unconciously tugged at the sleeve of her shirt. Something wasn't right but she couldn't really figure out what it was.

"I feel fine, though a bit... tight..." she murmured looking down at her sleeve.

It was only then did she feel the strangest sensation of watching her sleeve grow shorter and tighter. She wiggled her fingers as they became slimmer. She began to self conciously pull the hem of her shirt down, it was too small.

She dared a glance at Tinuveil to compare her eye level to the princess' height.

"I grew didn't I?"

Tinuviel was smiling brightly at Lin, so much that it almost hurt, and her eyes were shining proudly. She nodded and hugged Lin tightly.

"You grew," she affirmed cheerfully. "Oh, we're going to have to find you some new clothes again ... and Earendil ... Earendil is going to be so happy ..."

Halaleel was staring, slack-jawed, at Lin, her eyes wide with shock. At last she found her voice, and she uttered a string of words in elvish that no one would dare to teach Lin.

"Hold your tongue!" Tinuviel ordered the girl harshly. "You will not use such language in this place!"

Halaleel clamped her mouth shut, her temper beginning to show.

Lin blinked back at Halaleel, she had no clue what the girl said, of course she hadn't realized there were simply words she was never taught (naturally because it wasn't proper to teach her those words in the first place). From Tinuviel's tone though they weren't good words.. probably swear words

She reached behind her to take off her necklace it felt a bit like a choker at the moment, "Anyhow, back on track... I know this is a shock Halaleel, but I had told your father I wasn't exactly like the humans in this world... well not that all humans in Gaia grow in spurts well.. Gaia is odd to most people...."

The young woman breathed easily now that her necklace was off, though she was really going to have to do something about her clothes, and she was going to have to do extra stretches as well.... what a bother. At least the height difference wasn't that great.

"I'm starting to think it's a sign I should consider an occupation here, I've always grown here."

It wasn't like she was going to age after all after this point.

Tinuviel smiled at Lin and reached to take her necklace from her. "You know we would all like that," she reminded her. "Here, let me take your necklace ... we'll take it to Aranhil to adjust it for you this afternoon, if you like."

Halaleel didn't reply to Lin. She was still somewhat shocked at having witnessed the sudden growth, and she hadn't yet found her voice. For the moment she was simply waiting - waiting to be dismissed, or waiting to be able to speak again.

Lin chuckled a bit as she handed Tinuviel her necklace, she had been coming here for so long, this really was like a second home.

"Thanks," she turned to Halaleel, she nearly forgot about the girl again and that was sort of rude, "You can go Halaleel, I hope if we meet again it'll be on better terms. I would most rather make friends than enemies, live my life rather than to wait around."

Lin's last comment was referring to Earendil, while she did think her friend would make a good father (childhood memory serves), it was no reason for a girl to wait on one guy. It was a waste of potential, even for a girl simply helping in the running of a candy shop.

Tinuviel nodded at Halaleel, and with one final quick half-bow, the girl was gone.

Tinuviel laughed at Lin, amused by her final comment - in more ways than one.

"You know," she grinned, "that's what everyone's been telling Earendil about you. Stop waiting around and do something with your life ... though it appears that his waiting might finally have paid off?"

She laughed again and squeezed Lin around the shoulders. "Come, let's find you something to wear that might fit you better, and then we should go for lunch. Earendil is probably there already."

Lin wondered if this meant she was going to be once more 'borrowing' Tinuviel's clothes. Since in the past that had always been the case...

"Yes, yes.... and now Dad can't say no to a trip around the Southland," Lin giggled as she nodded at Tinuviel's assetment.

Now she had so many more visits to take.
