Miyu nodded as she slid off the bed, "Yes!"
She went over to take a hold of a bit of his cloak so she wouldn't get lost. After all it would be a bad thing to get lost in there.

Aragost smiled down at Miyu.
"Would you like it if I made a light for us to use while we go through the halls?" he asked her, kneeling beside her. "Perhaps in a shape that you can hold in your hand?"

Miyu's eyes lit up at the mere thought of seeing Aragost make something like that.
"Really?" she asked the excitement in her voice was barely contained, "I'd like that a lot!"

Aragost smiled knowingly and held his hands out in front of him, where Miyu could easily see.
His only problem for the moment was that he didn't know exactly what to make for Miyu. He wanted to make her something special, something that would suit her. His first thought was a star, like the one she had made for him - though sadly its light had not lasted very long. It would suit her, after all, she did have quite the love for the stars. Yet would there be something else that she might like more?
Perhaps. Perhaps not.
He decided to go with the star, and he began humming softly, inaudibly. The air above his hands began to shimmer, then glow, swirling and slowly becoming solid, taking the shape of a brightly glowing orb.
"Here," he smiled, ending his song and holding the star out to Miyu, cupped in his hands. "Take this ... keep it ... it will glow when it is in your hands, it will cease when it is not. I do not know how long it will last, but it may be years, your time."

"Mi...."
She carefully lifted it out of his hands and studied it, turning it over and over. A smile flitted across her face, this was so pretty and it reminded her very much of the stars in the sky.
"Thank you, it's very pretty."

Aragost smiled, so close to the bright star that the light penetrated his cowl and lit up his face.
"You are very welcome," he murmured, his black eyes glowing with happiness.

"Now the hall won't be so dark," she murmured softly.
She was sure she could go out into the now, without having to fear about the things her mind could come up with in the dark.

Aragost smiled and rose to his feet.
"No nowhere will be dark if you do not want it to be," he murmured. He held one hand out to Miyu. "Shall we go now?"
And he motioned towards the door.

Cradling the orb in one hand, Miyu reached out with her other for Aragost's own. Holding onto him with all the trust that she would have given to anyone of her family members.
"Yes, let's go."

Aragost closed the door behind them and led Miyu down the hall, down the stairs, down the next hall, and outside towards the forest. Even he had to admit that it was easier to manipulate the barracks with the light that Miyu was holding.
"What do you say?" he asked her once they had reached the bright light of the outdoors. "Was it much better walking through this time?"

"Very much better," Miyu replied.
The light adjustment wasn't as bad since she had that orb to make light during the trip out.

Aragost smiled and began to lead Miyu to the forest where he was to take his shift.
"You know," he murmured softly, smiling down at her, "you remind me of my own daughter ... many ... many years ago ... when she was just a child."
That had been a very long time ago indeed.

She didn't know that Aragost had a daughter, though it would explain why he was so good with children. She had to wonder if he had any grandkids like her grandmother, or not like her father. After all she didn't know how old he was, and unlike Lin had not realized he was indeed very, very old.
"What was she like?"

Aragost closed his eyes as he walked, though he still avoided obstacles (such as trees) as easily as if he were watching closely where he was going.
"She ... was energetic," he replied softly, "very ... determined, I suppose ... she was very kind ... thoughtful ... wise ... and I have to say that she was quite fearless, and it often got her into trouble."
He chuckled softly. "But she was always able to get out of whatever trouble she got herself into ... she was quite an amazing woman ... and I am certain that she still is."

Miyu tilted her head a bit, she couldn't understand why he wasn't with her then. Not that she minded, it just seemed a bit sad for him and for her, since she couldn't imagine being without her family.
"Where is she now?"
