wotfan1983 I am starting to worry about my little jake again I told you he had gastroschesis and had to have his abdomen repaired, well he well he still has a hernia under the skin and his stomach is kind of destended. I have been worrying about the hernia, it seems like if he exerts himself he starts coughing from the pressure, even when he laighs to hard I just wish he could be comfortable. His reflux is still in check but we are gonna take him back to his gasrointerologist this week coming up. I am a little scared because when he was in the hospital they said there was a chance somthing could happen to his bowel later and that damaged portions might have to be removed. So wish us luck. sad poor little guy ..give him lots of love and keep us updated..

***UPDATE** gonk we took eric back to ENT yesterday..i swear i hate doctors..we thought everything was a ok just a routine check up...wrong stressed apparently the little lid thing on his trachea is floppy from the cp so when he sleeps at night it doesnt open or close right which is causing aspiration and for him to stop breathing (never longer than 5 secs) and he's still refluxing when he sleeps so his trachea is all basically burned and what they call "cobble stoned" (all lumpy, bumpy, and white) so now we have to go back for more tests! gonk a repeat sleep study and some sort of scope of his esophogus, stomach, trachea ect....they said something about trying new meds and if this is his cp getting worse eventually he may need a trach. tube crying his feeding isnt going to grand either...i swear I HATE DOCTORS! and thursday he has to go to the dentist @_@ lets pray thats a decently cam and uneventful visit

Poor Eric, you know the trach? Is it the one outside his throat? Because I used to work with kids with that...and they sounded like they were walking over wave radios. I love them to bits, and Eric sounds like such a nice kid. Heh, I am still praying. And yay! 7 months whoo!

My doctor actually suggested the best thing for his reflux though. Chewable antacids, its just calcium and he doesnt cough as much in the morning.

Hello everyone
I'm sorry I haven't been on much, it's just since I've been working I've been super busy. Ben is doing ok, he has his first tooth now, and he's so hard to deal with at times. . . the dreaded teething is horrible. We took Ben into the doctor a couple days ago, and his weight has jumped astronomically off the charts. We don't even feed him that much so the doctor was puzzled to how this had happened, and so are we. I had to take him in to draw blood for his thyroid to see if that's causing his huge weight gain. I hope we find some awnsers soon. . . he shouldn't weigh 23 pounds at nine months. . . sweatdrop
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well out there. I miss you all.

Jake made a turn around, I took him to the gastrointerologist, he told me his asophogus was looking better, he gave us another prescription of Zantac, and told me that the coughing was not from his reflux for it to have been so bad. So I took him to his pediatrition, and after all that worrying it was allergies. I was up late thinking, as much as they repeat that birth defects usually dont occur 2 to a family unless its genetic I am scared to have another baby and not get to take them home for 4 months, and have to go through all that crying. I wish i could get over this fear, I want to start trying next year but i am so scared. Anyone else have these irrational fears?

*HUGS* Please all your hearts, those tests are so nerve racking. Not just on the kids, but especially you moms and then the waiting of the results.
Funky monkey, are they checking Eric for sleep apnea?

Funky monkey, are they checking Eric for sleep apnea? partially but more of a function test for that lid thing on your trachea depending on the tests he may have a special machine at night or a trach tube ;_; and with that they said usually comes a feeding tube too...all ive been doing is like crying and praying
